  • I bought this 'gun safe' at Dick's Sporting Goods, who matched Amazon's price which made is cheaper. My plan was to have this in my car to store my gun in when I might venture into an establishment that has the posted Texas signs 30.06 & 30.07; ie. "no guns allowed."
When I got home with it, I checked out the reviews on Amazon, not having done so beforehand. I was shocked after seeing the ONE "terrible" review that it got. That review also had a video. I tried the same thing in that video with my new safe and had the same result, it opened like a clam. I made this video and am sharing it for those that do not know about how unsafe this "locking case" really is.
Even though this has a cable that locks into the safe and around the seat post in your car, which would limit it being dropped from a considerable height, you could probably just whack it on the locking side with a rubber mallet and I'm sure that it would open that way, too. I didn't try it, though. I've already returned it to the store.

I just bought 1 of these, should come in tomorrow. I'll put a sticky note on it asking any thieves not to drop it

Make sure your kids don't drop it, too.

I can't help but wonder, though, would hitting it on the opening side with a rubber mallet cause it to open. While tethered around the seat post in a car, a thief could still probably get into it that way. I'm sure that thieves know the ins and outs on how to circumvent things. I didn't know anything about bump keys or that they even existed until my home and my neighbor's home were broken into a few years ago. They caught the burglar at my neighbor's house. Luckily, we all got our stuff back and he went to jail!
I made this video to show a fatal flaw in the design of this product so that viewers could make the call if they want to trust it or not.
