2021 San Francisco Bay Osprey Nest Richmond Brings a Stick/Umbrella in the Nest

Richmond and Rosie the San Francisco Bay Osprey are hilarious to watch! Especially Richmond's "treasures" and ambitious construction projects in the nest. This morning, May 11, 2021, Richmond came back to the nest with a huge stick, more like an umbrella! I guess you could say he wanted to shield Rosie and the three chicks from the sun? Or could he be building up the rails of the nest in preparation for the chicks to start practicing flight? Who knows but we're enjoying Richmond's vision for the nest. Richmond, the male osprey also brings a piece of water reed to the nest, which blows off into the wind right when he lets go and tries to perfectly place it in the nest.
