    Great video thanks my friend. I guess I'm old school on this. I was told never solder battery cables just crimp them. I put one in a Petercar sleeper closet there was a plastic grommet. I put the hole in it and ran my wires out red to the battery and ground to the frame in one of the extra holes not far away plenty of slack like you said for the movement of the cab and bunk worked out great. Thanks for the great video my friend keep up the great work

    Should use hever ga. Wire and crimp or clamp connector s to handle the heat and amperage you will receive to maintain your proper voltage with the least amount of stran on the battery. I used 0-cable had the ends crimped on at the parts store and a 30 Amp automotive bracker in the pos. Battery cable in for years no trouble

Kept dieing (batteries are brand new) I put the positive and negative on complete opposites of both cells and still not enough juice. What am I doing wrong? My suggestion would be to get to 6 volt golf cart batteries hook them up in series can isolator switch so you can isolate them from the main batteries when you need to use them and they'll still be able to charge when the truck is running but will not drain your main truck batteries

    You did a big no no when wiring .. The fusible link wire connecting to the battery is a higher gauge wire ( smaller diameter) that is a big no no . When wiring you can go from low gauge to high gauge ( larger diameter to smaller diameter) but not the other way around . Wiring it the way you did will cause excessive heat on the fusible link wire because it’s AMP rating is not high enough . In turn this could cause a fire 🔥 or burn up the inverter pre maturely.

    I bought a PD3000 and called tech support with questions. I have worked on cars for close to 30 years. Ground is Ground but tech support informs me I must run the ground to the battery. The battery is grounded to the frame and engine block, I wanted to run the ground from the inverter to the closest frame hole. Also they state the inverter should be mounted horizontally not vertically. There reason is that it is less likely a cord plugged into it will come loose. What are your thoughts? FYI I will be putting it in a class c motorhome about 12 feet of wire from the coach battery. I was told to use aught 3 wire.

    • @KoonTrucking

      I always run both to the battery both hot and ground. The green wire that is supplied out of the back of the inverter (common) I ground that to the frame rail. I have always mounted mine horizontal to keep dirt and carpet from the fan ? Just the way we usually do it. In this truck it had no carpet and was a vinyl floor and driver wanted it vertical so we mounted it that way for him.

      I will not give advice on fuse size because some people don’t have enough sense to know a 1500 watt, 3000 watt or 5000 watt inverter requires different size fuses and depending on the application how they should fuse it. Too many people are happy to sue for something and if you can’t figure out what you need then people should take it to someone but we showed the instal process well enough for anyone to install an inverter

      We showed the hard part? If you can’t figure it out when we show the hard part it would probably be best not to try the install yourself. Obviously the fuse size depends on the size of the inverter. The cable size also so it’s not a one size fits all. I wasn’t about to say you need a 50 amp fuse and #3 wire and a guy install a much bigger inverter. All that info will be in the manual and different manufacturers call for different specs. But adding a fuse and putting red to positive and black to negative shouldn’t be an issue for 99% of the general public that would attempt this install.

      I guess u are using voice text ? Not sure but I can’t make much sense of any of what you try to say. I guess you are fussing because we didn’t show every little tiny step but common sense on where to drill. Every application is different depending on what type of truck you run it in. As far as the connectors red is positive and black is negative pretty much self explanatory. I mean seriously if this confuses you, then you definitely do not need to try to install one yourself. This is showing how simple it is

      Koon Trucking OK yeah I am using voice to text but now he has a problem do your video says how to install common sense is here what are you doing how to install VA yes you do so every little detail because you have some people not like me because I’m military I know how to do certain things I was just seeing how you would run it instead of having to hang outside your truck like some people have seen you but do you have some people that will say OK then they don’t comprehend audio tape don’t understand how to install it I am or where to drill where do you know put the wires or any of that you have to remember you’re making and how to install video you want to do something as though you’re talking to someone in the fifth and six grade

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  4 роки тому +2

      Well the problem is if I told them to drill here, some people aren’t smart enough to to actually look and check before drilling because it could be a different truck then they drill through the fuel lines or ac lines then they want to hold you accountable. I’m good with all of that. If they can’t handle where to drill we clearly showed the area we ran the cables they shouldn’t try it. I’m not opening up myself to lawsuits because everyone wants to blame someone. You are more than welcome to do install videos and show people how to do them. There’s plenty of room on UA-cam for that.
      This video is plenty adequate for anyone to install an inverter in any semi truck by following this. People sometimes have to think a little for themselves but we clearly showed what needs to be done.

    What size fuse?

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  3 роки тому

      Fuse size will depend on the manufacture recommendations depending on how big of a power inverter and how many watts it pulls and designed to handle. We didn’t discuss that because of liability issues. If we set up a 1500 watt and state a fuse size someone may install a 3000 watt and have issues. Just not worth the liability. If someone can’t read the instructions or recommendations the maker of the inverter recommends then it’s on them and they shouldn’t be attempting this install
