-That burgundy '54 Bonneville was nice, I'd take it now. Same with the '64 Banshee. Goes to show many of what we're driving now was inspired by cars from decades ago.
That really makes our day! Thank you for sharing your nice comments! Interesting note is that I knew a William Beck from Iuka, IL who passed away in the early 80s.
How do you think the 326 HO Banshee would've held up against the 289 Cobra? The specs look pretty close on paper. Beautiful cars sir! I've got a 1963 Lemans with a 69 block 400 in her, and a 1079 W72 WS6 Formula Firebird.
I miss Pontiac, especially the older cars like this. We've owned two of them and they've been the most reliable we've had thus far. The Banshee was the nicest out of these four (they all were great cars) but the parking lights seemed like an afterthought. The rest of the vehicle is still relevant in design to this day.
Wow, great memories! When i saw that article of Warhoops years back, i actually got ahold of Joe on the phone (Blue Suede Shoes) to offer my help along with my car clubs support ere GM decided to try to sneak those cars away from him! He sent me some great original photos (which I still have) of those cars as found! My favorites were of the Brougham town car as i have a 58 Brougham. Unfortunately i didn’t know about the motorman cars here at Pebble years ago until it had passed! Good to see your channel on youtube!!! Best to you and Deb!
Thank you for sharing these wonderful cars. I have watched the complete video twice. I was not aware of these cars until i recently discovered your videos. Please put up some more from the show this week if you have time as I always enjoy your videos.
I don't remember DeLorean mentioning anything about the Banshee in his book, are you sure he designed it, or was he head of Pontiac when it was designed? He went on a bunch about the GTO in the book.
Thank you for sharing, I reposted your vid to my car loving friends. Are you ready for another challenge? Not that you don't already have a few already, but I hear that the Space Chariot vehicle from the TV show Lost In Space is in Riverside county CA. It's in great disrepair, but salvageable. I don't know if you are into movie/TV props, but can you imagine the response at Pebble Beach, or any other venue attended by baby boomers if the original Space Chariot rolled onto the grounds?
The Pontiac styling came from the Corvette, not the other way around. Buick had a car based on the 56 vette. All glass roofed cars were doomed as it is not what the market wants in real life.
It's fun to see the obvious and sometimes not-so-obvious styling cues that were headed for production. Earl and Mitchell...true automotive geniuses.

Those were gorgeous. I think the 1960 and 1964 could have been real production cars. The other 2 were not practical, but had beautiful styling..
I can see lots of Corvette styling that came from these Pontiacs, as well as some Camaro/Firebird and other marks.
