  • Dave Meikle is a respected Bagua Master with a deep-rooted passion for martial arts. His journey began in childhood, exploring various disciplines such as Shaolin Kungfu, Taiji Quan under Dr. Yuan Shaoliang, Wing Chun, Hapkido, Aikido, and Wrestling. In the mid-1990s, Dave’s martial arts path took a significant turn when he met Bagua Master Yang Guotai. Embracing the profound depth of Bagua, he dedicated himself to rigorous training, often practicing up to 16 hours a day. Acknowledging his dedication and skill, Master Yang bestowed upon him the title of Shifu in 2000, enabling him to begin teaching. In 2009, he was honored with the prestigious title of Bagua Master. Dave has since shared his expertise internationally, teaching classes in Canada, the USA, and China, profoundly impacting his students and continuing to advance the practice of Bagua worldwide.

Great to hear from Master Meikle. Make it a series! I'm a Bagua bro training with Shifu Mace.

My teacher is Mike's martial brother. I only trained with Yang a handful of times and hung out with him an equal amount. His stepping method was unparalleled to anything I've encountered anywhere else. The level of consciousness and intent his method carried is insanity. At the same time Yang was a unicorn of unfiltered honesty,
judgment and poetic insults. Such a gem. "Wei!!! Your no listen!" Forever humbled.

The way Meeks describes bagua's mud-wading step is basically identical to the way I learned Mocabu in Yiquan - my hunch is that it's v likely that Wang Xiangzhai imported that whole practice from bagua in the first place!

Wang Xiangzhai practiced at the same park.

I love watching Canadians attempt to throw shade apologetically

I actually forgot to mention - at 73 years of age he beat the living crap out of me every day I trained with him, which is a big part of why I went back to my students and quit teaching after 2 weeks...

This was not "Meeks" from rumsoakedfist...entirely too polite, measured, and a complete lack of innuendos!!
All this nonsense talk about Bagua, mudding the waters of walking with all these exercises!?!
He's passing himself off as Yang Guotai's disciple and talking about walking...and not once mentioning "heel no up?"
    This is clearly staged. 😉
