My added tip that’s been majorly impactful: have a system for capturing ideas! One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is “oh I’ll remember that”…Ideas come & go but more easily go if we don’t capture them somehow. I have a working list of ideas written in a note on my phone. I have a file in my phone’s photo albums of a collection of screenshots of POD inspo. I also have a Pinterest board and Instagram collection of saved POD ideas & inspo. I capture as soon as I see something that gives me POD inspiration or write it down as soon as I think of an idea. This makes it all the easier to sit down and create a design because I have a ton of options to work with and don’t have to start from scratch trying to force an idea to come to me.
YES!! i used to have a notebook for ideas, but now I just use my phone too. It's so important to write this stuff down because most of the time it goes out your brain and you never think of it again.

Fantastic video! I’m guilty of many of those things. I’ve been needing motivation as sales were slow in January. This video gave me the push I needed! Thanks 😊
This was a really good reminder. 1) yepp, made this but fixing that. I don't have anyone to give me proper critique 2) I'm more or less doing this. But I am pretty good at making discissions based on what customers said in the past. And finding solutions to fix issues so the critique wont happen again. 19) I am sooooo guilty of this!! 20) also a big mistake for me. .... How did I do? ? ? But yes. Hello Shimmy; this is my first video that I watch outside of Germany on the subject of POD. Great, and thanks for a lot of content in so little time. Will follow you. Good luck.
I thought this was going to be a bash "Print on Demand" video. I'm so glad I was SOOOO WRONG! This was a CLASS that I needed to hear! You hit on everything that was running through my head. And when I was about to go another direction, you beat me to it. So this was my take on it: You can do it! Just be SMART and DILIGENT! DON'T GIVE UP!!! And I will and I won't give up! Thank you!!!
Awesome tips! I’ve been working on setting up a motivational store for a couple months now. Do you think Motivational designs are boring? I really think they can be impactful.
in the "pricing and fee's categories"... do you prefer to see shipping included in the price?... I have very mixed emotions about this? I currently have shipping included on my own website, but would appreciate others opinions.... thanks... Great video's by the way and I did subscribe...... 😁
Great video! Soo helpful! From my limited experience so far - I am using Contrado e t-shirts go around 18-20GBP, which I think is a lot.. So I am checking different products for now.. And I also didn't know about the Color wheel of Canva, so will be definitely learning more about that!
Somebody told me a few years ago that I should double the total price of what I pay for the product, so I will have enough money for sales and other discounts. I recently opened up a shopify store and doing exactly that. Is this a good idea?
What i cant understand is how there are so many super cheap clothes on etsy, when none of them can be made and shipped for that price to begin with. Blows my mind.
I chose my niche because I'm passionate about it. On the other hand, I'm barely making any sales. So many factors affect POD. How do I know if my niche is the problem and it's time to choose another one OR to continue pushing on in my chosen niche?
if you feel like you've tried anything and it's been a good amount of time then maybe try something new, but I am a true believer that any niche has a chance it's just about hitting on that right design
I think the biggest print on demand mistake (for true aspiring clothing brand owners) is not looking for other clothing suppliers (finding the blanks sold on printful/printify etc such as Bella+Canvas / Gildan / StanleyStella) and also looking for your local print and embroidery shops … Print on demand is by far the best startup for seeing your designs in person and such.. but you definitely want to start building out a local supply chain, partnering up with local printers and embroiderers and getting your hands on those blanks for wayyyy cheaper! Good luck all, never give up and always look to lower your clothing brand costs long term whilst also trying finding better quality for a luxury brand feel!

The need for money is a great incentive against procrastination. Even if there isn't any real interest in the effort, I'm forced to do something now or face financial consequences. Designing a POD every day is easy (watch UA-cam). Problem is getting a sale & fulfilling the promise of the item to the customer successfully without any of the disastrous consequences of POD + shipping.
