Interview Dif from “rat rods of Africa”. I understand you can’t go to South Africa, but maybe arranged a FaceTime interview. Watch his channel. You will see how very talented he is.
Man this might be my favorite episode because it was unexpected. I grew up as the white kid in a hispanic neighborhood in the 90s, everybody loved each other but my dad was a drag and circle track racer. There were a couple drag racers but a lot of lowrider guys. My first car was an 84 camaro, dad and built it to race. My neighbor had a son with an 87 monte carlo they were making into a lowrider. Our dads were great friends and we traded an engine for the monte for a paint job on my camaro. We went to school after that summer having the two coolest cars. We would sit at lunch and bring our magazines and hed show me mr cartoons work in lowrider magazine back then. I was showing him steve dulcic writing about making 700hp with cylinder heads on a basic 454 chevy. We still drag race each other every weekend on friday nights. I still have my camaro and he still has his monte carlo but were both racing crappy square body pick ups. His looks a lot better ;)
Holy Cow! Tuesday and Wednesday Derek videos, will be buying another hat from him at Indy, and maybe have another Friday video. A guy is spoiling a feller!
Wow - Derek - Your interviewing skills are impressive. I Loved how both of you smiled about the same cars and going fast! Different background same love! A+++++++
Thanks for taking me so far out of people I usually follow and watch. That was really interesting. A lot of great advice and encouragement there on following your dreams and honing crafts.
Derek great show ! I love this because as you do what you do so good! You bring different cultures together! In the past Low riders , & roders kind of saw themselves as adversaries! Especially when I was in high school back in the early 60s, not right ! Yet we are all Americans ! Food, music are common denominators, a universal language that can bring many cultures together! That diversity has made us a great nation of freedom that beckons those living in areas of the globe that do not have the freedoms we enjoy in the US to be able to express our differences culturally! These expressions make us all stronger human beings collectively! At 77 this year seeing you and Mr Cartoon in cover gives me hope! As I hope other viewers will glean from this episode! I grew up in the car culture experiencing what both of you articulated! You could look at yourselves as “ peacemakers” ! I think that is great! Just makes the familia bigger and mor diverse! Keep up the good work! Regards - Mad Mike S. 🇺🇸🦡🇺🇸………..
Derk, find yourself a Technics SL 10 or SL 15 liner tracking turntable, and you'll have to make sure you get the right cartridge for them, but you'll find they play very well. Do a little research on them, and you'll discover something that we enjoyed back in the 80's that you can kick back with a nice set of Klips speakers playing through a nice Marantz tuner and hear things you never heard before. Just make sure the electronics have been tuned up replacing any components inside that age has caught up with, and you'll be set for many years of listening pleasure
Great episode! I actually picked up some of that Mister Cartoon tire shine and I was really impressed. There’s no flingage and it really sticks out. Can’t wait to buy more of those products
Removing shop class from schools was the dumbest idea ever. Shop class was the only thing that helped keep me in school. You need to get Mike Rowe on this podcast.

A brave married man admits he used to read Lowrider Mag :) Pleasant interview.
Derek should do one of these interviews with Ike and John from cars and cameras. That would be neat.
