- I'm sure I've seen this episode of Reading Rainbow when I was a kid. I rediscovered it recently, and looking back, it extensively reminds me of a similar production from the Real Wheels videos series called "There Goes A Train", as both were filmed in California in the 1990s, both featured Amtrak F40PHs (and ATSF FP45s in the intro), both featured LAUPT as well as the Amtrak maintenance yard in L.A., both had their hosts briefly running a locomotive (LeVar ran an F40PH while Dave ran a P40DC), both featured the hosts riding a train, and both had steam era flashbacks, among other similarities. So just for fun, I sort of decided to mesh the two together by putting the music heard in "There Goes A Train" over the Reading Rainbow episode, wherever it fit.

The F40s are my fall time favorite Amtrak unit I also like the Dash8s
I could totally see this version with the music as being the original version if I didn’t know otherwise
Back then: Railroads are the nostalgic to see colorful, fleet, sleek steel of giants of the rails: It’s sad to see that it wasn’t the same anymore. No graffiti, just a sweet, got greatest manufactured, like Budd Company, ALCO, General Motors, Electro-Motive, General Electric, and various companies that America should considers to bring back our modern day.
No mass highways, built tracks, and make MORE trains.👓🇺🇸🗽
I remember this alongside Thomas and There Goes a Train, in fact maybe some of the footage may have been used in There Goes a Train IIRC.
the nostalgia hits hard with this one
I wish Amtrak still used F40PHs and traditional streamliner coaches but then again, they were old and worn out.
At least some lucky ones were saved.
At least Amtrak kept a handful of the F40PHs in service on select commuter routes (albeit without the primer movers).
@@TheNWClassA1218 Those are NPCUs. The only way a F40PH can still be functional is on either a Commuter Railroad or a Heritage Railroad/Museum. Grand Canyon Railroad has some F40PHRs in preservation. I say F40PHR because they were built from SDP40F Parts.
Excellent job
Thanks

@@anime_jay331 There will be.
So laforge could repair warp coils and drive F40ph's who knew
LOL. Yeah I heard that LeVar was also in Star Trek. I'm not really into Star Trek though (the only sci-fi I like is The Terminator).
Is there an ETA on the “Devil Code” part 3? I can’t wait to see my lines
Not yet. But I hope to have it ready by the end of this month or early July.
