What is getting lost here is that she was a multisport athlete. I think that competitive soccer experience helps on the race course. I think it also helps with the lack of burnout. I am just sick of seeing other parents who say kids HAVE to focus on one sport from the time they enter high school in order to compete. That's horse crap. Just so many benefits from spending your teen years exploring different sports. Sure, you can do it with purpose, but I just think most high school athletes won't end up in D1 programs and most should do what they have a passion for. I have seen far too many runners who don't want to have anything to do with their sport after high school or college and give it up for decades. Often, they give it up right when they should be enjoying it the most.
It turns out that most, not all but most, elite athletes start out doing multiple sports until they are teens, then in high school par it down to their best one.
That track coach weirds me out ..."concentrate on one sport" ... "we knew what we had..." All about the coach. She probably stands around yelling a lot.
Wow! She's a wonderful runner... I run track, but I'm also on a 5k team.. my best mile time is 6:52 and my best 5k time is 26:07. I'm in 7th grade... Just think, I might be. Like brie.. that's my goal for my senior year.
yea last year i was running a mile in 6:00 in 10th grade this year as a junior i’m down to 5:01 and going for 4:56 this weekend, if you can dream it you can do it, not everyone’s talent comes so naturally.
This is a girl that is blessed with talent, beauty and a heart that very few in the world ever know. I believe she's going to do some great things in this life and make this world a better place.
Start doing interval work at the pace it takes to win it all. Goal 4:10 mile and you run a 4:40. Run intervals like first one..60-62 400, 20 second cool down then 800 at 2:05, 30 second cool down and 400 at 60-62. You get the idea. I used to go to failure on purpose last 200 of my 400. Make training harder than races
A Girl With Dreams not really . some legendary strikers were just great spotters ,dribblers ,finishers...etc , and didn’t do much running ( Romario for example )
Bri has a form that can last the test of time, this mean training will hurt but putting a race together she is just too strong. She controls her heart rate which is the #1 thing you need in distant races. She will go down as the very best.....and I don’t even think she has the slightest idea. I know she knows she’s good.....but I’m talking about being the Michael Jordan of her sport. I’m all in....look forward to her development.
That's girl from Malibu is also good the same happen in my time there was a guy who was the best and junior year a kid ran crazy time senior year he was second men and the new kid took it all just like her
Probably the worse advice you could give her! Ultras are slow and long and she's young and needs to focus on faster races they run in college! Just like waiting to run marathons in her upper 20's and low 30's.
I ran in the late 70s class of 80 and my whole life, and in Runners Roost Track Club , coached by Ted Castaneda at Colorado College. A girl my age went to a rival H.S. and she ran with the club. I came from a Basketball State Tournament team that was very well conditioned and coached. So I only ran a year in H.S. I usually played baseball , 2nd baseman, but my buddy talked me into CC and I was hooked. First race was 19 flat last race was 17s. I was a 2:00 flat half miler and a 4:27 miler :52 quarter, decent for first year trackster. The point I guess is the girl I ran with was phenomenal. She won the overall race up the stairs in NEW YORK CITY Empire State Building and Colorado State Champion or close I beleive. I always wondered what happen to her after h.s. There are some great runners coming up in America..Oh and I'm a guy. These girls would have been tough competition for me in high school.
I noticed that Bire was 20 years old during her senior year of track. 20! That is ridiculous. I was a 17-year-old college freshman. So did her parents purposely hold her back in school TWO YEARS so she could have a competitive edge? Sorry, but the age limit for track should be 19. It's really cheating that she was 19/20 year old senior.
I dont know if that is true or not, i tried googling her birthday and came up with nothing, so i cant say. But, if it is true then she is totally cheating. My running strength from age 18 to 20 is huge!. If its true then ive just lost a lot of respect for Brie, i was fanboying like crazy for her until i read your post. Being 20 in any High School sports is a huge advantage. I was 17(parents signed waiver) when i went into Marine Corps bootcamp, still was not fully developed, couldn't even pull back the charging handle on my M-16. I kinda wished i had held off from going into the military until i was in my early 20s, because that's when my 'man strength' started to come in.
See I absolutely hate these videos, they talk about her working hard. She was born with it, she didn’t have to put any work into running, and she should’ve stuck with soccer
This is such a joke saocany company, I just managed to notice that she has the same shoes jacket and pants as Libby Davidson in her video. This is fake, it’s not a real story, they just dress them up in the same costume.
imaging being so good at two sports you don’t know which one to choose. can’t relate.
She’s WAY better at running, though.😉
Armando Sturzenegger Better meaning current and future possibilities as a top 10 elite athlete in her event.
mu buddy had scholarship for baseball and hockey but did way too many drugs and never got accepted in the end
Her coach is VERY eloquent. Great team, great runner!

@@maxbaugh9372 things are changing a lot. The latest generation have pretty much focused on one sport in most sports. Sad.
Wow! She's a wonderful runner... I run track, but I'm also on a 5k team.. my best mile time is 6:52 and my best 5k time is 26:07. I'm in 7th grade... Just think, I might be. Like brie.. that's my goal for my senior year.
Runner_Track Brie could run a 5:30 mile in 7th grade
yea last year i was running a mile in 6:00 in 10th grade this year as a junior i’m down to 5:01 and going for 4:56 this weekend, if you can dream it you can do it, not everyone’s talent comes so naturally.
Athena Young Damn that’s pretty good my friend who’s in 8th runs a 4:45
Runner_Track no I don’t think so sorry.. good mile pace but need to work on your 5k time
I can run a 1500 in 5:35 and I’m in grade 7 too. My 5k is around 24 minutes and that was in grade 4
I came from soccer but im still trash what did I do wrong
Mariano Tevalan she’s genetically gifted
She probably works harder :P
work on form and techinque i guess
They even said at the start, “she’s definitely has that endurance training” she was doing essentially running in soccer.
Well it depends, how long have you played soccer and are you even decent at it?
I remember being on a run with my Xc team and seeing some of these clips being filmed haha - interesting to finally watch it
And I’m over here’s barely running the school mile 😂
I WANNA HAVE A RESON LIKE THIS TO DO CROSS COUNTRY IM ONLY DOING IT RIGHT NOW TO LOOSE WEIGHT
This is a girl that is blessed with talent, beauty and a heart that very few in the world ever know. I believe she's going to do some great things in this life and make this world a better place.

Grace Ping & Brie Oakley both came from soccer...
iQuackerzMC Gaming Katelyn Tuohy as well..
And I’m a soccer player and literally can’t run that much at all...rip
Being a football (soccer) midfielder demands a lot of endurance. That's why I played in central defence.
Technical question. Why she twist her foot when running? 4:19 . im new to running and im wondering maybe is more efficient that way?
Do not do what she does
She needs to work a pit more on technical
Most people have a little quirk when they run, just look at Paula Radcliffe. She won’t realise she’s doing it.
Olympic runner..
Great gift
everyone...chill she was born in 1999
hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. but when talent works hard? they are unbeatable
Inspiring!
Most people that play soccer for a long time can run in an amazing way. It's kinda unfair but that's just how they practice in soccer
A Girl With Dreams
not really . some legendary strikers were just great spotters ,dribblers ,finishers...etc , and didn’t do much running ( Romario for example )
I suck at running on my own but give me a ball to chase I’ll run forever
that’s very true...the top 3 girls on my track team all play soccer.
How is it unfair?
Wish we had this in my time love that there is more for this kids now

awesome.
U will go far
What's the music at the end?
Amazing!
Nice video.
I was at all of these meets for my sister
3:21 Is that a whole Nico Young?

I’m 13. I started running 6 weeks ago and my 2 mile time is 16:45. I have a 5k in 3 weeks, hope I can make it through. I want to be like Brie one day.

Cal website said her birthday is March 25, 1997. Gonna be 21 in March... As a college freshman...
respect lost you gain so much in those two years
no doubt a big advantage-I remember the gains between being a freshman and junior in college running were huge...
Devan Smith birth year is 1999 not 97
Has brie Oakley got a sister called camembert
I'M A COLLEGE KICKER AND IT TOOK ME 3 MONTHS TO RUN HALF A MILE NON STOP
Is it just me, or is her face really asymmetrical?
J Lee I agree ?
probably from soccer. people get hit in the face a lot.
It is
@@yeetoatmeal4265 hahahahah Where did you get that from?
AMAZING young lady
Im originally from that area, leaving soccer to run CC and track is not common there...
How exciting to watch As they run As they train, Simply All I love to do in this life is to run!!👍🏃🏻♀️💨Nice👏
My schools called Grandview too😂
Go run 5k‘s at the Olympics, you can do it
Always hold the hype trains when it comes to runners.
she's 21 years old as a college freshmen? that can't be right
Sure it can, happens all the time. Hell there are 50 year old freshman.
21 yr old freshman coming straight out of HS is weird though. I graduated from college at 22 and that was because I did the 5 yr plan there.
It's pretty common. Don't be dramatic.
She was born in 1999 whoever got the 1997 birth date needs to check the facts
Not everyone starts college coming out of highschool
DAMN 18MONTHS ONLY ITS TAKEN ME 3 MONTHS TO RUN HALF A MILE WITHOUT STOPPING
♥️♥️
Kinds looks like the daughter from the incredible movie except without black hair.
Rule of thumb: if u need a fast xc kid, go to a varsity soccer practice.
IF I COULD JUST RUN 5 TO 6 MILES IN 44 TO 50 MINS I BE HAPPY WITH THAT
long distances like that aren’t the same as things like 5ks, because endurance is different from initial strength.
I’m confused whether to support her or not
1:35 did this **** seriously take her out of soccer to do some fancy trail running ?
Brie chose to quit soccer and run instead. It was completely Brie's choice.
every cross country coach after meeting the fast freshman
Love the attention kids get now
Katelyn Tuohy
Warrior
1600 metres ka schedule chiye
Football*
she looked so healthy playing soccer, she now looks emaciated
I want to meet my son
Oh first world countries.
love her leggings...Must be NIKE...MY FAVORITE BRAND
cute
Wonder how her joints will be at 40
See I absolutely hate these videos, they talk about her working hard. She was born with it, she didn’t have to put any work into running, and she should’ve stuck with soccer
Tayla Grace I know right! She was born with those two legs... What a cheater!!
You obviously missed much of the video...saying how hard she works, how driven she is etc 🙄
Talent AND hard work...she was born with one and chose to do the other.
😂😂 another soccer player turned xc runner
I was quite good at soccer(football) even without doing much practice but I suck running 😂
Oh that's just sad, like she played soccer for 12 years and just quits instantly for cross country like that's kinda sad.
This is such a joke saocany company, I just managed to notice that she has the same shoes jacket and pants as Libby Davidson in her video. This is fake, it’s not a real story, they just dress them up in the same costume.
pigeon feet
Sometimes getting a late start prevents burnout. Hopefully Berkely doesn't turn her into an activist instead of an athlete.
