    What is getting lost here is that she was a multisport athlete. I think that competitive soccer experience helps on the race course. I think it also helps with the lack of burnout. I am just sick of seeing other parents who say kids HAVE to focus on one sport from the time they enter high school in order to compete. That's horse crap. Just so many benefits from spending your teen years exploring different sports. Sure, you can do it with purpose, but I just think most high school athletes won't end up in D1 programs and most should do what they have a passion for. I have seen far too many runners who don't want to have anything to do with their sport after high school or college and give it up for decades. Often, they give it up right when they should be enjoying it the most.

      It turns out that most, not all but most, elite athletes start out doing multiple sports until they are teens, then in high school par it down to their best one.

    Start doing interval work at the pace it takes to win it all. Goal 4:10 mile and you run a 4:40. Run intervals like first one..60-62 400, 20 second cool down then 800 at 2:05, 30 second cool down and 400 at 60-62. You get the idea. I used to go to failure on purpose last 200 of my 400. Make training harder than races

    Bri has a form that can last the test of time, this mean training will hurt but putting a race together she is just too strong. She controls her heart rate which is the #1 thing you need in distant races. She will go down as the very best.....and I don’t even think she has the slightest idea. I know she knows she’s good.....but I’m talking about being the Michael Jordan of her sport. I’m all in....look forward to her development.

    I ran in the late 70s class of 80 and my whole life, and in Runners Roost Track Club , coached by Ted Castaneda at Colorado College. A girl my age went to a rival H.S. and she ran with the club. I came from a Basketball State Tournament team that was very well conditioned and coached. So I only ran a year in H.S. I usually played baseball , 2nd baseman, but my buddy talked me into CC and I was hooked. First race was 19 flat last race was 17s. I was a 2:00 flat half miler and a 4:27 miler :52 quarter, decent for first year trackster. The point I guess is the girl I ran with was phenomenal. She won the overall race up the stairs in NEW YORK CITY Empire State Building and Colorado State Champion or close I beleive. I always wondered what happen to her after h.s. There are some great runners coming up in America..Oh and I'm a guy. These girls would have been tough competition for me in high school.

    I noticed that Bire was 20 years old during her senior year of track. 20! That is ridiculous. I was a 17-year-old college freshman. So did her parents purposely hold her back in school TWO YEARS so she could have a competitive edge? Sorry, but the age limit for track should be 19. It's really cheating that she was 19/20 year old senior.

    • @povang
      @povang 7 років тому +20

      I dont know if that is true or not, i tried googling her birthday and came up with nothing, so i cant say. But, if it is true then she is totally cheating. My running strength from age 18 to 20 is huge!. If its true then ive just lost a lot of respect for Brie, i was fanboying like crazy for her until i read your post. Being 20 in any High School sports is a huge advantage.
      I was 17(parents signed waiver) when i went into Marine Corps bootcamp, still was not fully developed, couldn't even pull back the charging handle on my M-16. I kinda wished i had held off from going into the military until i was in my early 20s, because that's when my 'man strength' started to come in.
