    - I chose French Gothic to be the first style of the series.
    At first glance, it might perhaps look like any other cathedral, but I will have to say that this is my own design. (really)
    -This work (The designing and drawing) took about 12 hours (+-30min).
    -This architectural style will have two videos; The Building-Designing part (This one), and the City-Drawing part to complete the picture.
    (I'm sorry for splitting them into two halves)

    -I chose different variations of Medieval Music to match the architectural style. The bells comes from a recording of cathedrals in Germany (ironically).
    -Enjoy!

    I am so glad I stumbled across these! You are so talented! Are you still working on these!? I hope so as you are SO talented. I am almost embarrassed to ask if you have any plans to illustrate American architecture, as so many of our structures are so bland compared to the examples you just gave from around the world. We do have some pretty impressive types of architecture from here in the US though. We were big on "beaux-arts" at the turn of the last century which would be structures like Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Also very "american" would be art deco like whats found at the Chrysler building. You have some serious skill though buddy....so stick only with what challenges and inspires you, what allows you to demonstrate your EXTRAORDINARY talent!

    • @Wandrative
      @Wandrative  9 років тому +5

      +Julian Swierczek I Thank you so much for your extraordinary compliment Julian :D!! THANK YOU! This is incredibly flattering :DI am very honored to have someone interested in the things that I am doing. Yes, I am trying to do more of these drawings hopefully when I don't have too much school work to do, but I would love be completely dedicated. :D When it comes to American architecture, I am definitely interested in Art Deco along with some revivalist movements. These were actually the things that I was mostly interested in when I was eight years younger. :P I like it how in the 1920-30s, skyscrapers were designed into complex styles like these unlike many other modern skyscrapers that look like rectangles (Obviously some buildings look better and more complex but I think you'd know what I mean.) Unfortunately(?), I am currently living in Canada, so the surrounding architecture around me is much more 'bland' compared to the buildings that stand in the city that you live (presumably New York). :P I would love to visit New York one day and see all the buildings you've mentioned: ironically I've been to many places and cities in the 'old world', but never visited America. I can not control the length of this comment being so thankful for your interest :D ! I must finish my words though. What I am trying to do with the drawings is to go around the world in a Easterly direction. So I did: France >Netherland->Western India->Burma so the next one would be in Eastern Asia then I might move to Central America. It might take a long time but I really am considering Art Deco, but I might do it in the second lap around the globe :P I really thank you SO MUCH for your appreciation TRUELY.

    • @julians3210
      @julians3210 9 років тому +1

      +Wandrative I don't live in New York but rather close to Washington DC. I grew up in Chicago though so understand what you mean about the buildings. If you look up Chicago's "Tribune Tower" or "Wrigley Building" I think you'll find good examples of what you're talking about. But as you said, s'cool is more important so do that first! Haha
      Also, where did you come up with the floorplan of the cathedral! It looks as though it could be genuine! Again, you've got serious talent buddy, thanks for sharing it!

    • @Wandrative
      @Wandrative  9 років тому +2

      Julian Swierczek Reading through my previous comment, I figured that it would have been hard to understand :P I'm sorry about that. In fact, I should start proofreading longer comments from this point on.
      The Cathedral IS genuine!! Haha. But the façade looks quite similar to the Reims Cathedral... - I wanted to design a building specific to the culture and time period (So this makes it look similar to all the other French Cathedrals out there... Kinda). You have good eyes - I don't think most people can figure this out by just observing the floor plan!
      Thanks

    • @julians3210
      @julians3210 9 років тому +2

      For some reason, I missed the part you said about wanting to move "in an eastern direction." Sounds great buddy, like I said, you've got the talent so anything you do will be fascinating to see.
      For some reason, I've always loved architecture, but also floorplans. churches, museums, houses...all of them. So it seemed to me that you created the cathedral yourself which is so amazingly detailed and in depth of you. Not just drawing a fancy church, but DESIGNING it from the ground up. I don't know why this is so interesting to me, but again, keep it up!
      If you're in Canada, I don't want to ask where, but obviously wherever it is, the US isn't too far away! ;) Everyone needs to see New York, Washington and Chicago in their lifetime but Boston is cool too....there's a bunch of neat stuff to see. If you ever have questions, don't hesitate! Thanks again for sharing your talent!
      Also, your message was very understandable/ easy to read, so no worries!

    I love the south transept. I've always wished that the apsidal transept would have caught on and remained in use into the High and Late Gothic periods. It adds something deeply powerful to the Gothic churches where it was used, Soissons especially. Bravo Wandrative.
    Being a loyal enthusiast of English Gothic, though, I must add that there is something to be said for terminating the transepts and choir in a flat wall. I'm glad English architecture took that route (though I'm also paradoxically glad that French architecture kept the apsidal chevet). For justification stand in the choirs of Wells, Lincoln, and Bristol, and research the east fronts of Howden Minster (where the choir is now in ruins) and Old St Paul's (which of course no longer exists).

      The facade of the two towers looks very similar to the Rheims cathedral, yes. Good eye!
      However, the middle section is quite different from the Rheims (vastly different within the boundaries of French High Gothic design), and the rest of the cathedral has a completely different layout and design. (the sides, hind, and central tower)
      I should have drawn it sideways to make these claims more odvious, so its my fault.

      Is this the Notre Dame fire reference?
      Terrible tragedy really. But my drawing is more stylistically oriented to the Reims Cathedral.

    why do these magnificent Buildings Always have to involve religion... cant they just be used for .. administrative functions or something? ;/

      Back then, big art projects were funded by the church and religion, so it makes sense that these impressive builds relate to religion in some way or another.

      +rajarr70 Well, there are Palaces, City Halls, and many other great government buildings. But I guess religious buildings are always the best. It is usually the best because you are dedicating it to divinity - so it must be close to perfection. And I don't think so much rootless hatred toward religion is necessary for you or anyone else.

      rajarr70 Well, although I identify myself as secular, I believe religion had a lot of great impact on mankind. It brought people together, and established rules and regulations. It made civilizations behave, and achieve goals in life, and to expand.
      I think that if we didn't have religion, we probably would be savage.
