  • “And Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him” (Genesis 5:24).
In today’s message, George Whitefield (1714-1770) emphasizes the importance of having a personal relationship with God and living a life guided by His Word. True faith is not merely a matter of attending church or reciting prayers, but rather an active, ongoing process of aligning oneself with God’s will. Whitefield uses the biblical story of Enoch as an example of someone who walked with God and was therefore taken up to heaven without experiencing death. He then encourages his listeners to follow Enoch’s example and cultivate a deep, intimate relationship with God by seeking His presence, obeying His commandments, and constantly striving to grow in faith. Throughout the sermon, Whitefield stresses the urgency of walking with God, reminding his audience that life is short and that death can come at any moment. He concludes by urging his listeners to make a conscious decision to turn away from sin and dedicate themselves to a life of righteousness, fully committed to walking with God every step of the way.
