  • Watch, learn, and listen to a step by step work up of a trauma patient with multiple gunshot wounds for the "The Practical" portion of the ATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support certifying exam.
The ATLS exam is broken into two parts - (1) The Written and (2) The Practical. Many Residents, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants or other health care professionals may not have experience with the ATLS Practical format prior to the exam.
In "The Practical" you are role playing the trauma situation and need to communicate to the ATLS instructor not only what you are doing but why. This is very important as it communicates your thinking and methodology as you work up the patient.

Whoa this is like, kinda fucked. You’re gonna intubate her on those awful vital signs, while she’s actively profusely bleeding?

In minute 1:02 she said that she's going to intubate the patient

They intubate the patient, because the awful vital signs, what are you on about here?

@@fajarn7052have you ever intubated a person with a systolic blood pressure in the 60s? The patient will code before the rest of this scenario take place. Intubation before everything else, would kill this patient.
