    Honestly your channel has been amazing at expanding my opening repertoire. I’ve had such a narrow opening repertoire for a while and its been my Achilles heel but I find myself knowing what to do and which concepts to apply in many different positions far more often after watching your vids. Your videos are one of a kind insightful and have a great mix of general principles as well as in depth traps/theory, well done my friend 👏

      @@GMIgorSmirnov also last year your Chanel was the only Chanel I watched. I entered my very first tournament in Nashville, Tn, the Nashville summer classic. I was in between rounds watching your videos and surprisingly the very last video I watched , which was a gambit against the Ruy Lopez, and my opponent coincidentally played the Spanish. On the 3rd move he was shocked. After the game he asked me where I learned that, and I sent him to your channel! 😂😂 since I was unrated being that it was my first tourney, I had to be in the 1000 and below elo. Not much to brag about being the lowest section, but I did win 1st place , with your help, my first time playing in a chess tourney ever!! Free 350$ keep up all the work GM Smirnov!

    For blitz I use a slightly tricky move order in the e3 variation as White. 1. d4 d5 2. c4 dxc4 3. e3 e5 4. Bxc4 exd4 5. Nf3 where if black gets greedy and tries to play 5...dxe3 the position is completely winning for white after 6. Bxf7+. Obviously if they resist the temptation (and indeed most people do resist it according to the lichess database) the position is fine, but it's a trap for people to be aware of.

    Reminds me of the recommendation Graham Burgess has against the Queens Gambit. He mentions the QGA is a way to transpose to the Slav while avoiding some opening nuances

    Thanks for the video Igor, been playing chess for 4 weeks now and i have gone from 100 elo to 608 so far, suddenly i have been coming across alot of d4 and Queens Gambits and i have not been having much joy aha, this vid and the Queens gambit declined has allowed me to plug those holes in my game. Great vid luv your work your one of my faves, next to Gotham and a couple others.
    Fan from Manchester Uk!

    It's problematic that most games go like this: 1.d4 d5 2. C4 dxc4 3. E4 e5 4. Nf3 exd4 5. Nxd4 Bb4+ 6. Bd2 Bxd2+ 7. Nxd2 and so on and white is fine while either queens on the board or in queenless endings.

    • @sashaveygman2572

      Why Bb4+? It's not the best move, just attack the pone with Nf6, analyze that). This position is -0.6 for Black)

      @@sashaveygman2572 Makes sence. But white is at least getting better play in 5. Bxc4 6. 0-0 Be6 7. Bxe6 fxe6 8. Qb3 which attacks the weak e6 pawn and b7.

    How should we proceed against: 1.d4-d5 - 2.c4-dxc4 - 3.e4-e5 - 4.Nf3 ... __?__. This is missing from your video. I love your instruction and selection of variations. Is it better to proceed with 4...Nf6 or 4...Bb4+? I am assuming 4...Nf6 - 5.Bxc4-Bb4+ - 6.Bd2-Bxd2+ - 7.Nbxd2-exd4 ---- or do you prefer a different approach? ... Also, do you have a deeper course available on the QGA? I'd like to study your approach to the mainline.

    • @brucewillards37
      @brucewillards37 2 роки тому

      Against the wayward, just play Nf6. If they follow it up with Bc4, trying to scholar's mate you on f7, you can now play g6 as your pawn on e4 is defended. If they move the queen to f3, you can just play Nc6. If you want more detail, GothamChess has a good video on it as well.
