Nice concept Jason and Horizon Hobby!!! Would love to fly this with my friend who’s “learning to fly” , sent him a link for it, thanks as always guys👊🏼👊🏼👍🏼🔥🔥
Thank you for this extremely informative and well explained video. Wow does the RTF Habu check all the right boxes, and it's nice to see it comes with a respectable controller.
For someone who has drone experience but zero rc plane experience, would you recommend a traditional trainer such as the Apprentice or Carbon Cub as a 1st plane or go with this Habu? My end goal would be flying jets so starting with something like this would be nice. Oh, I plan on putting in a lot of sim time before my first flight of anything.
@@stevemiester123 It's not possible to add the GPS unit and SAFE Plus to this model, but adding the LAS is very easy to do (as noted around the 15:40 mark in this video)!
Hi guys, I recently bought my Habu. Sometimes (in trainer mode) it suddenly points down the nose and doesn’t respond to up elevator input. Any ideas why this is happening?
Good question. In both landings in the other video using LAS, one shows using the remote while the other landing shows him putting the controller on the ground to allow it to land. I’m thinking you just have to lower the elevator all the way and it will kick in
The LAS (Landing Assist Sensor) is optional, and when it's installed/connected it works automatically in the Beginner and Intermediate modes when the airplane is within a few feet of the ground. The LAS is turned off/not activated when you are in the Experienced mode.
Hi, I just got this rtr habu but I want to fly it with my dx6 radio. I have the dx6 programmed finished ready to bind but should I bind it with a bindplug on the 3230B or just press the bindbutton on the serial receiver 4650? Just want all fuctions to work properly safe flightmodes etc as the stock dxs radio has... /Pierre
The Spektrum LAS (Landing Assist Sensor) is only compatible with the Spektrum Flight Controller installed in the RTF version of the Habu STS (and also the Spektrum Flight Controllers installed in the Apprentice STS and the HobbyZone Carbon Cub S 2). The Flight Controller is only currently compatible with the Spektrum 4650C "SRXL2 DSMX Receiver with Connector Installed" ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/srxl2-dsmx-receiver-with-connector-installed/SPM4650C.html ). And it's not currently possible to install the LAS and corresponding Flight Controller/Receiver in other models because they cannot be programmed by the user.
Hi. I have another question for you... My son has been flying with the simulator that came in the rtf habu and we bound the dxs to the real flight dongle so my question is do we need to bind the dxs to the habu before first flight now or is it still bound to the plane after we bound the dxs to the simulator ? /Pierre
@@HorizonHobbyProducts thank you for the answer.. Only 1 model memory I believe in the included dxs so thats why I was wondering but now I know it doesnt need to rebind. Thanx 😊👍
No longer comes with battery, charger or RealFlight. What a bummer. Did the price come down when you removed those? I see it's on sale for $330 now. ($50 off)
Yes! The RTF version includes a 3S 4000mAh 30C battery and it will also fly on a 3S 3200mAh 30+C battery. Or you can install a 4S 3200mAh to 4000mAh battery for more power!
Can anyone confirm that the RTF Version is still shipping with the RealFlight Trainer version and the wireless dongle? Some online retailers still have it listed in what's included, but the Horizon Hobby site does not.
Our current stock still includes RF Trainer Edition and the wireless dongle, but stock arriving in the future will no longer include them (starting ~3 months from now).
There are no immediate plans to offer a version of RealFlight for Mac users. That said, you can currently use Boot Camp to install Windows and run RealFlight on a Mac.
I would love a vtol airplane that takes off like a drone, but has the flight time of around 25-30 min like a plane. I'm surprised drones seem to have longer flight times than a lot of planes available.
We're also very excited about RealFlight Trainer Edition!! And everyone can see more info on that here: www.horizonhobby.com/product/realflight-trainer-edition-for-steam-download-only/RFL1205D.html
No BNF Basic option for this one due to the added cost associated with the flight controller (which includes a barometer that offers the "invisible floor" functionality, makes upgrading to the LAS and other functions possible) and serial receiver included in the RTF version. Those cost more than an AR636 or AR637T receiver, and would have made the price for a BNF Basic version about $60 more than the PNP version. That said, we do plan on providing an AR636 model file that includes AS3X and SAFE Select tuned for the Habu STS so anyone who has a spare 636 and would like to install it in the PNP version can. We may also offer a Habu STS setup for the AR637T, but the 636 is our priority for now since so many people already have those receivers on hand.
"safety issues" is a polite way of saying your "battery can, and will, explode if you charge over 4.2 volts per cell or discharge it less than 3.3 volts per cell"

Hi Jason.
I love the plane.
I would like to know the ready to fly weight of the aircraft.
How much does it cost for the ready ready fly version could you please tell me
Just ordered one, the whole kit with battery and all is roughly 460$
What about landing asist how do you activated

Hi,
I just got this rtr habu but I want to fly it with my dx6 radio.
I have the dx6 programmed finished ready to bind but should I bind it with a bindplug on the 3230B or just press the bindbutton on the serial receiver 4650?
Just want all fuctions to work properly safe flightmodes etc as the stock dxs radio has...

Both methods will work! But many people find it's easier to use the bind plug because they are more familiar with that.
What receivers is the LES sensor compatible with? I'd love to add that functionality to a different non-Eflite plane.
Hope that Horizon will sell retracts EFLG110 again, because fit perfect in this model .
Can you bind to a dx6 radio and still have all the same features
Yes! You will just need to program the transmitter accordingly to assign the Flight Modes to a 3-position switch.
Hi.
I have another question for you...

You can have multiple receiving devices bound to a single transmitter so you should not need to bind it to the airplane again.
@@HorizonHobbyProducts thank you for the answer.. Only 1 model memory I believe in the included dxs so thats why I was wondering but now I know it doesnt need to rebind. Thanx 😊👍
