It would appear the driver of this S-8 is an aggressive and skilled driver (as I consider myself to be), but I am puzzled by his frequent adjustments to the ventilation (?). I would have enjoyed a better “walk-around” I own a 2000 A-8L and dearly love it! It is a fantastic vehicle. ( I have owned over 60 cars in my 78 years and just cannot find any reason to replace this one❣️)
Thank you for watching Bill! If I remember correctly, the windshield was fogging up and I didn't want to have the fan blasting on the camera, so I was adjusting it all the time manually.
I would have said that calling someone a "aggressive and skilled driver" because he's casually cruising around like 80% of the worlds population every day to their way to work says enough about how much you suck behind the wheel, but i don't think that's necessary. As a basic guideline, i would say that everybody who calls HIMSELF a skilled driver must absolutely suck a**.
I want one of these very bad but at the same time I know I‘m gonna be hella disappointed with the reliability and maintenance cost since I‘ve been driving a W124 300D for the past years where everything you had to do was to put diesel in it and change oil and filters every now and then.
Could I ask what it's like to own? I've come across a late 1999 D2 A8 with a 4.2L V8, like in this one and similar spec too, (albeit with less horsepower, of course, at 310hp), for 2,600 swiss francs and it has 383,000km on it. What should I look out for? And more importantly (to me) how does it feel to drive? In terms of power, handling? Does it drive with that solidity that Audis from this era have? Also I really enjoyed the video! 👍🙌👌 P.S: I am 17 and it would therefore be my first car 😂 but I've always had a love for older cars like these. Thanks!
It's a great car, built like a tank. Be wary of good maintenance, a lot of people skimp on changing oils etc, so make sure everything was changed as it should be (engine oil after 10k, transmission oil after 60k...) and other than that, if the car looks and drives nice, there shouldn't be any problems.
Its a great car. THE weak point is the transmission. It tends to fail prematurely, since it was not designed well for the power. Other than that, it is pretty solid and reliable car. Watch out for obvious problems, oil leaks, bad suspension etc.

A narrative would be a great addition.

Watch out for the transmission! :-) It's fun car regardless.
From film RONIN
I have a 2000 with manual gb. Rock solid!
Enjoy your car!
@@TomKosCars thx
How reliable they are? Did You spend a lot for the maintenance?
I bought this one in terrible condition, I spent fuck ton on maintenance. Watch out for the tranny (auto), they are weakest parts on these cars
could you atleast do a pull or something?
Had summer tires and it was slippery, I didn't wanna push it too much :-) In part 2 I atleast got it to 200kmh while overtaking

I have the same question but for an a6 with the 4.2 l engine 1999 year

Is one with 180,000 miles on it fine?
As long as the auto tranny is ok, then it should be fine. The rest of the car is very solid, just look for a well maintained one :-)
reliable?
Absolutely no.
S8 хорошая на вид, а вот как на крепость?
nice cars.
