This is fantastic! Just discovered these films. I've just learned more about the Powerflite on my 55 Belvedere than I ever would by reading the workshop manual. Thanks!
These are such fantastic videos! Some really test me, because like in this case, this came out nice years before I was BORN!! Same sort of diagnostics that I did during my career.... But they left something out! They went over line pressure, linkages, Engine performance and how it affects transmission shifting from first to second......... But they never once mentioned, when it shifts to Third... 😱😵😵 Oh, WAIT! It shifts into Third, in 1958...... When the 904 Torqueflite was introduced!!!!! 😜😛😁😁😀 *J/K!!!* lol
I’m considering a 1956 Dodge D-500 with the 318 and the powerflite transmission with push buttons. Is this transmission a decent one? Just wanted somebody’s opinion on it
One of the BEST V8s ever made IMO!! I used to rebuild Engines for a living... We'd have 318s (and 273s, same Engine) come in between 180,000 to 250,000 miles. They ALL had pretty good Oil Pressure, Head Gaskets rarely leaked, Cylinders good, just Rings worn. The only issues I encountered were people who didn't think Oliday changes were a good idea!! Even those were serviceable, except they'd need new Valve Guides, because they'd be worn OVAL!! Besides Oil consumption and a bumpy idle, they still ran good!!

Very good information!
Thanks for these; I'm ready to go play with my 56 Savoy 'Flite now! Cheers.

UA-cam interrupting a video mid-word for an ad guarantees I will blacklist that "product" being hawked.

If we had UA-cam in the 80's.....
I would have made Master Tech by 22 - instead of 34!!! 😁
is the Chrysler 318 a Good motor
The 318 CI was one of the best engines ever IMO . Chrysler also had a 225 CI six cylinder was a very good engine .
Them days are gone .
Very much so.
