Harley Benton GPA-100 power amp pedal, Diezel VH4 pedal, Boss SD-1, Boss GE-7 or Boss CH-1, Boss NS2. I reckon I could do most gigs with that. Don't really need the reverb or delay but a wah would be nice. However, that's 5 pedals, on a board and it's your wholllle amp.
I'm old school, I need a plexi style amp. Give me that, and I'll need a wah, tuner, phaser, flanger, and a delay. An od pedal would be nice too. I could give up the flanger for a decent overdrive. DOD 250 works for me. Or even better, a Boss Angry Charlie.
I'm building my board around the ToneX simply because when I do play, I play mostly covers. Because of this, I need a way to quickly switch amp models but still have some of my pedals on-board for special occasions like tapping the EVH Flanger when playing Unchained. So, anything you can show as an applicable use for this switchboard, I'm all for it. Thanks for the videos.
A little moment of silence for pride in seeing the lovely Atreides united with the AxeFx via a slick RJM/Fender switching device. Now if RJM would just re-release the 4 channel stereo Mini Line Mixers that I would buy. 😂 Have fun on tour!
Hey Leon, great demo. How did you get the Switchboard to send out PC / CC messages to other pedals. May be a basic question, but I can’t figure it out ATM. Thanks
Sweet noises as usual mate! That is a packed unit and the UI makes a lot of sense - quite intuitive. I think it would be a great foundation for a pedal + tonex or kemper player. Of course you could for an fm3 too but I find apart from a couple of my fuzzes I don’t need to add.
Quite the Swiss Army Knife, and well-engineered. I wonder, though, if it might benefit from some sort of editing app, perhaps in a future version. Be interesting to see whether this takes off.
Great demo of the Fender switchboard! I'm new to Fractal FM3 and wondering how well this would interface and provide extra switching for it? MIDI and volume pedal, etc, all sounds good just need to know if it would work with the FM3.
Something like an Airstrp, Morningstar or Pirate MIDI controller might be better if you just want to add switches to the FM3. This is more for switching individual pedals
@@LeonToddThanks Leon for your response. I was wondering if using it for its midi output might make the switches all available to the FM3. Then the ability to switch pedals was a bonus for future use. Its about the same cost as a Morningstar MC6 Pro which I was considering buying.
The problem with all these multi use pedals are the never ending munu's, it can become very tiresome. There is a lot to be said of stand alone pedals I think.
I think main problem is the screen. In bank mode it should show the name of the patch or number only. Now it’s too small and useless for stage use. I would prefer the colour to be black too 😅
Well if all you had was time on your hands like Vai , you could lock yourself in the harmony house for days.. but if not and you are just bonkers happy over your personal sound with using a few pedals and just one amp you could be saving a lot of money for say .. add that to one guitar youve found is all you need you are ready to rock with any house PA .. just you and your axe on stage and all that glorious noise even a cool cat like lupin would love.. hope my little friend is ok and drinking his milk in his cat condo .. havent seen or heard from your best fan of late mate.. dont be trying to grab all the glory and attention you're getting now being that wildman on stage..lol 😂 😺😺😺 🌏 🐊🐊 ✌️.. best signature sound yet of yours you dreamed up with at the end.
Very very cool. Man, Fender has really stepped up their effects and pedals game lately!! Love these reviews sir. Very cool . I saw this and wondered what it was all about. It's very cool .. Only you can give me this value about these things brother. I have to go to a funeral today. My cousin passed from cancer. I hate Cancer. Hope you're well brother. I'm limping along and getting better very slowly. No stages for me recently. 😂 Be well my friend and God speed to you and yours. Oh, the live songs you posted earlier was absolutely killer. You guys are so right man and songs are so fun and good . Great show and great playing man❤
Ok so this is the control panel to the starship, that's been compromised of multiple pieces (pedals/amp/MIDI) ?. Pretty ingenious using it to combine everything within your arsenal.
Such a cool device. I wish it had a way to incorporate a separate FX chain from the sequence if using a conventional amp head but it doesn't look like you can. 😞
I must admit I like the compact nature of it but I still fell you have to go a long way to beat the BOSS switchers, which do so much and, for me, are a piece of cake to use. I love RJM...Ron is brilliant at the customer service stuff...he's worked out so much stuff for me...but that's because their gear is actually quite tricky to set up...well it certainly was, anyway.
@@LeonTodd yeah, that'd be good. I love my ES8, and I'm not even close to using it to all its capabilities, but it can essentially do anything in a switchable realm that your little heart could come up with, and it's way more user friendly. Like all things BOSS the manual is gobble-dee-gook, but Man Bun Metal Head has it down.
I’m seriously looking into purchasing a pedal switcher as I have about 15 pedals on my board and getting difficult to manage them while playing. Will this device allow me to connect all pedals but select a different, let’s say distortion, and not all of the distortion pedals at once, as I assume they will all have to be on and connected to a single loop due to other pedals in other loops? Basically, how will this switcher work with a large pedal board? Anyone has the same issue? Many thanks!
Yeah, Me I am in quite the same case. I plan to to some pedals before (upstream) the Switchboard (like Compressor and a suble Vibrato, both I leave on all the time). Loops 1 - 3 I use for Fuzz, Drive, dark sounding Delay). Loop 4 I use for a Echoplex Preamp and a Amp Simulation (both always on). In Loop 5 I store some more stereo FX I can turn on or off via midi (like Complex Hifidelays, Reverb, Deco). After the Switchboard I will place a stereo Phaser. That's the plan so far. If you want more flexibility, maybe a loopswitcher with more loops would be a better solution for you?
@@christianerpel7796 Thanks for your input, very helpful and nice set up of pedals! Phaser is still one of my favorites together with my tube screamer (I’m old school 😃) I’m now considering a switcher that offers from 8 to 11 loops and not as expensive (I’ve seen a few good ones out there) but will definitely have to leave a couple of pedals before the switcher and connect another couple ones in series before going into the switcher, from what I understand. The search (and lots of reading and watching reviews) will continue for a few more days.
I wouldn’t call them rich boy, toys , Like any gear if you budget your money wisely, you can have just about anything you’d like. Of course, there’s a willingness to make sacrifices that one must hold onto to achieve such goals. I gave up on my wasteful spending and I now have three Bogner Half Stacks a dozen Electric Guitars loads of pedals and rack gear

1. PettyJohn Lift
2. Strymon Compadre
3. Benson Preamp
4. Empress Deluxe ParaEQ
5. GFI System Specular Tempus
Amp:5150, SD1, Comp , DOD-DELAY, Roland chorus, EQ.

I’ve set it up with a Jackson Audio Golden boy, TC Magus, HX Stomp, Boss DD-200, Strymon cloudburst.

is it possible to use it without an amp? like only run the guitar on it, all the gear is the guitar, a cable and the operator
It's not an amp or amp modeller, it only handles switching of the pedals you use. What's the use case here?
The problem with all these multi use pedals are the never ending munu's, it can become very tiresome. There is a lot to be said of stand alone pedals I think.
This isn't a multi-fx, it let's you use your stand-alone pedals like one though

If they incorporated a coupe in built effects like the ms3 I’d be sold

Midi out only ☹!

The output impedance of this is vastly better than the BOSS switchers. BOSS: 1000 ohms. This: 150 ohms. This sounds better period

Only a few bucks less than the BOSS ES-5, curious how it'll do in comparison.

Oof, $650aud just for a fancy patcher? Not sure about accessible price point.
I agree. The price seems way off
The closest RJM to this ( PBC6x) is $1300AUD. The Boss ES5 IS $720AUD and doesn't have the stereo capability.
That's a good point. It just feels like a lot of cash just for a switcher is probably what I mean. When you can pick up a Valeton Gp200 for 599.
Vastly more value for money than any of the other switchers by a mile. You need to check the market
Think this will go in the forgotten fender bin with the tone master pro in a month
Nah this has put a serious spanner in the works for the switcher market
If it says fender, it can go fucc itself
