I haven't been down there for quite a few years now, would I be correct in thinking there is now 'no angling' from main deck... on the lower deck there looks barely enough room to get any distance even if you were on your own?
@@fiskrond9212 you don't need much distance you are in deep water at any state of tide, a lot of the better fish come from straight down, especially bass and pollack that lurk underneath the pier.
looks like a good venue for some sport on light gear - and also those whose feet can no longer deal with beach-relays or rock-hopping (that's me)! Sounds like a better stamp of species than you get off the Knab too..
Trigger fish are also worth targeting in the summer months; use size 4 hooks dropped down the side, baited with rag worm. I would recommend taking a drop net in the summer months, as Smoothound are quite prolific these days, but also if you're targeting triggers it's painful seeing them drop off the hook half way up.
I used to catch gurnard and mackerel there and occasionally watch giant yellow jelly fish swim under the pier, but they banned smoking, stopped fishing off the main pier and increased the price per rod so we haven't been persuaded to go fishing since. Until last month we discovered Swansea dock and I had a huge battle with spiders and rust to get all my gear from the garage, cleaned up and strapped to my bicycle and I ca't get enough of it :) only caught 1 fish so far but it's comfortable and free :)
