I think Rick is really Mexican and disguised himself as a gringo. I've watched dozens of his videos and never spotted a mistake. This is as authentic Mexican cooking as you can get. Gracias, Rick.
I’m a professional chef, I’ve been following Rick for over 15 years since I learned about him. He is truly authentic and really enjoy watching his videos. Learn a lot about Mexican cuisine from this channel.
My Mexican wife was never taught to cook by her mother. We used to watch this show on PBS when we first got married. This gentleman is our family "secret" to impressing her relatives when we cook. Pure gold right here. I still get asked to make tamales every year. Learned how from his cookbook. Just shared his Tortilla Soup recipe yesterday with a coworker, and she is in for a treat.
I looked to see if this was my husbands comment lmao. Same in my house. My Mexican mom was always working but she cooked bomb at least I had the taste I should aim for.
Thank you so much for bringing back Mexico: One Plate at a Time. It brings joy to many who love authentic Mexican food, all of Mexico and the guitar music.
My wife and I relocated to Morelia almost two years ago. She's Mexican and I'm from Reno, Nevada. There's so many great things about living in Mexico. The food, is just one of them. My wife is originally from Mexico City. You're right about the Al Pastor Tacos! Never a bad decision, especially when buying in the local taco stand. Just look for a line of Mexican people, waiting to eat! VIVA MEXICO 🇲🇽
Tamales, tacos Al pastor, enchiladas, are delicious, but for sure Mexican pastries are nasty to me. Asian food is the most delicious food for me. Also Jewish foods, and I am content. I don't like Christian food, it taste fake. You know like commit a sin, and then ask God for forgiveness, over, and over again. Christian food is nice on the outside, but bad on the inside.
I'm mexican, I believe that the way the people prepares their food represents the deep culture of them. Mexican food is the must representative color of our soul and history, we feel really proud of it and Rick is one the best person that explains on detail every ingredient, flavor and origen of every dish. ¡Thank you very much chef!
Hi Rick, I've been following and watching your videos for about a month or so now and I've been loving your show and the way you cook and how passionate you are regarding Mexican Food but seeing you in the frontline right there into the streets of Mexico, speaking Spanish which I though you knew one or two words but no you're right there in the frontline sharing your passion with all of us I feel honored and proud at the same time even thou I'm not Mexican but as a Dominican I'm pretty sure that all Latin Americans here feel the same so I can not thank you enough.
One of Jacques Pépin's (super cool chef) shows introduced me to Rick Bayless just last week (old episode, never heard of him before). I saw Rick had a recipe for ChocoFlan on UA-cam (and then realized I've seen Rick Bayless before with Steve Thomas and Norm Abram on This Old House in 2003!) which I've had before made by another person and though was amazing. I got his book 'More Mexican Everyday' from the public library, made four sauces in under two hours, and have been eating out of the book all week. It is so easy and so dang delicious. Thanks Rick!

I used to go to El Tizoncito with my friends when I was a teenager in Mexico City. Delicious! One of the most famous places for Tacos Al Pastor in the city. Rick knows the real deal.

As a Korean who is very passionate about Korean cooking I have often challenged any white person selling Korean food. I was sceptical of Rick Bayless as a white person cooking Mexican food (like many others). However his passion, immense respect for Mexican cuisine, their ingredients, and the fact that he invested years learning Spanish proves he is the real deal ; The fact that many Mexicans credit him for further educating them on Mexican cuisine says a lot. Rick Bayless I believe you were Mexican in a past life. Thank you for using your platform to educate us about the superbly diverse and complex cuisine of Mexico.
Exactly. When Rick Bayless visits another nation as a foreigner he has the common sense and decency to learn that nation's main form of communication. He has enough honor and respect to learn more about their culture, particularly the food, which is one of the foundations of any culture. Rick is so unlike the vast majority of people who travel to foreign nations to live and work.
Wow. You are an incredibly ignorant person. Unlike being Korean, Mexican is a nationality, not a race. There are blond haired, blue eyed people throughout Latin America, including Mexico. A Mexican who looks like Rick is not at all unusual.
OMG I wish I could go with you and experience this all first hand. Thank you for taking us along with you Rick 😁 You're the best. I LOVE grilled or roasted pineapple so much. It's incredible
Hi Rick, I am glad I found you again, I didn’t know about you at least for the past 3 years, I am really happy you are still showing our food to the world, you know that you are one of the most respected Mexican food exponents, I am really proud of you. I remember years ago , you came to California for a competition against top chefs and you won preparing mole, that was epic
Watching the video with a smile...been watching Rick for a good while now and I love everything he does on the show from authentic recepies and all the info he obtains I mean he gets down to the grain and he has become Mexican national treasure.

I usually make my tortillas on a baking stone in a 450° oven and reheat in a toaster oven because I love the fresh off the griddle taste. I make slow cooked pork with the flavor of Al Pastor and pineapple salsa
True Mexican cooking. Mr. Bayless, you are a real anthropologist, more than a haute-cuisine chef. My respects, I re-discover the food of my own country through your recipes. As you gringos would say: The real McCoy. Regards from Cancun. (But I'm a chilanga). Thanks for this wonderful content of yours! I really enjoy it much.

He channels his inner Mexican.

Man, Rick represents Mexico even more than some Mexicans I know. Saludos from LA Good sir
This takes me back to Mexico City this past year. I ate tacos al Pastor nearly every day. They were so delicious, I could not get my fill.

Señor! Your Spanish is perfecto!! So is your cooking!
Rick is the best chef in the world..... he just is... you know it and I know it!
I become so hungry watching your great videos. I wish I was your neighbor and you needed an unbiased person to sample your cooking three times a day.
Hi Rick , been watching your cooking show for years. My daughters and i think you are a Mexican masquerading as a gringo. We love you.
