Thank you sir! One of the best reviews of this telescope! One question though, I am trying to find a telescope for my 7 year old daughter, and I have narrowed down my options to this model and the 70z (non LT), but couldn't find out what the difference between the 2 models is. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!
Chadi EL TAHAN Thanks for the compliment! So glad it helped you. As to the difference I do not know. I am glad to see youngsters and your daughter getting into the hobby and science. She will be happy with it.
@@starastronomer Thank you so much for the prompt reply and kind words! Another question if you may and apologies but I am a totally new in this field. I have been reading and found out that a Barlow x2 eye piece can increase the magnification and thus help see celestial objects even better. Do you recommend buying one with this scope. Sorry for the endless questions and thanks again for your kindness!
Chadi EL TAHAN As to getting a Barlow I have three answers; NO, NO, and NO :) Do not waste your money. First get the scope and try it. A telescopes main purpose is to "collect" fainter light. You can only spread it out so far. If the "seeing" isn't good you cannot use higher magnifications. Learn the scope first. If you are happy with it my suggestion would be buy better eyepieces. Eyepieces can always go with you to the next scope (if you decide to upgrade down the road). A cheap Barlow is useless in my opinion.
The differences are these: the Lt is smaller, it has a 700mm focal length, the normal 70 AZ has 900mm. The quality of materials and mount is better on the regular 70 AZ, and it is also heavier, the Finder is different, simply put, the Lt is of lower quality than the regular 70 AZ.
Nice review. Thank you. Some tips: - For any tripod & mount where plastic rubs against plastic -- Some graphite powder in those Alt-Az joints reduces friction for smoother movement. - Placing / hanging a small weight off the accessories tray divider helps improve tripod stability.
I love your video brother thank you i just got one for Christmas 2024 and been obsessed with it my first telescope ever and i have a lot of questions in regards this 70az Lt so my understanding is that this is a 700mm which we have to divide it by our lens and thats our Magnification i got that so now im more interested in how much power can i see Jupiter better if i get a 6
Thank you so much! Congratulations on the new 🔭. Just remember you can't go overboard on magnification. The atmosphere and seeing conditions will limit if bad. I wouldn't try more than around 140x. Also, at higher magnifications the object will move quicker across the field of view. Even with my high end refractors magnification is always based on the atmosphere. Some nights you can't get much. The quality of the optics is also one of many aspects to consider. Happy observing ✨️.
I have the 90mm version of the Astromaster and my tube is aluminum (medal) ...because I've drilled it. Yeah... a lot of plastic but the front lens is very good, just need one or two better eyepieces. The dew shield at the end can be pulled off and will show 3 screws that hold the lens cell on, the tripod is crap for the most part but the OTA optical tube assembly is good. Also..if you don't use the diagonal during the day the image will be upside down, but at night it won't matter as much. Anyway...nice scope.
That mount is rated for a maximum load of 4.5 kg / 10 pounds. Do you think that it is strong enough for such a weight ? I have 4 kg / 9 pounds telescope and I was thinking to buy this mount but I wonder if it is strong enough.
It doesn't sound like it will do well. A good rule of thumb I've heard for a stable tripod / mount is around 60% of the max load where the connection point is well balanced. 9 lbs. ÷ 0.6 = 15 lbs. max load tripod / mount.
Hello, I gave it away after the review. I don't remember if it did. Not sure if it has adjustment screws. I would say they all probably wiggle BUT that is because they are built cheaply to begin with. Normally you won't have the focuser racked out all the way in use. I would probably keep it as another one if you exchange it may be the same. Did I mention anything about that in my video?
i cant beleive this. i paid 150 buckes for the regular 70az on amazon. walmart has the 70az lt for 89 bucks. With! the phone camera adapter and bluetooth remote. this is BS
Every time I hear someone mention them as you did I sort of get the word out. If you have had good experience with them then I can understand continuing to shop with them. However, not all of us can say the same. I came across a website called telescope watch and under their "where to buy" section it describes the same sort of thing i experienced concerning b&h, although mine was much worse than they describe. Extremely poor customer service as well. They recomended not buying from them and l agree. Point is I am not the only one. Anyway great vid. Keep them up. We need more astronomy vids on UA-cam!
@@starastronomer I agree...been shopping at B&H Photo for YEARS off/on. No issues, FAST shipping, and great Customer Service. Recently, I got a Celestron Astromaster 90 AZ ($241, other sources more expensive) and an Astromaster Accessory Kit ($59, should arrive TODAY) from them...and now ordered a Farpoint 3" eyepiece/tube extension ($19) so I can look directly through the telescope if I don't want to sue a diagonal. I prefer looking "straight-through" when I use the telescope for terrestrial viewing, as I hardly ever do star-gazing...I just wanted a decent "land" telescope. However, the red-dot finder scope on it is terrible as it seems really hard to align (a lot of slop in the adjustment wheels apparently taking forever to get it usable). -- BR

@@ake05 the LT is more expensive tho I’m confused as to what’s best regular 70az or LT 70 az as the LT is £10 more ? Help please
You can put some weight in the accessories tray and it helps with the stability and movement of your tripod.

You're welcome THE WATCHERS.
I have the powerseeker 70 az, is there much of a difference between the 2 ? Great video! clear skies man, Dublin Ireland
Thank you Paul. I'm not sure how those two compare.
Did you know how to not have the finder scope slide off when at a steep angle?
Did you lock it down to the dovetail?
Should i switch my lt70 for the 127?
Aperture always rules 🔭
I have Astromaster 70 AZ, model #21061 , which is D=70mm, F1=900mm F13
Is it good ? And what eyepieces and accessories are you using ?
Great information. Thanks.
You're welcome Bruce.

My wife bout me the same exact one she got it for 60 dollars yesterday can't wait to use it
Luis A. Colon - Torres Very cool. Where did she buy it? CLEAR SKIES!
Great price for a good beginner one with a $50 Bluetooth remote adapter for cell phone and starry night software cost $409 to buy on it's own !
Was the camara phone bluetooth remote a cool feature bud?
Can't say B Wicked as I did not try that feature. But I can assume it would be.
@@starastronomer ok cool! Thanks for responding bud
🤜🏻🤛🏻
When i look into mine it’s blurry and i can’t see anything do u have any solutions for it?
Koeziii Did you try focusing it?
@@starastronomer How do i do that?
With the focusing knob, as shown in my video.
@@starastronomer I tried that and it wouldn’t work but i got my dad to help he got it working
Thank you for this! I think one of the better if not best informative video's for this telescope.
Appreciate that Jeremy!
Do you know if you have the focuser all the way extended, it wiggles? Mine does idk if I should return or it’s normal

I just picked this up yesterday and I paid only $31 for it
The end cap does come off….the silver ring covers the screws.
54:14 WOOOOOOOOOW!
Thank you Erwin.
Anyone know if Celestron telescope still have it at Walmart?
Marcos At my local WM I don't see them.
You can unscrew the objective lens cover.... At least mine does.

B&H Photo ripped me off for $300. Stay away from them!
