I think Blackbeard has awakened a fruit we haven't seen on screen: Dog-Dog Fruit, Mythical Type, Model Cerberus. -Ate multiple fruits -Luffy and Zoro referred to him as multiple people -Never sleeps (one head is always awake) -Three skulls as his symbol -Shanks's scar, which he got from Blackbeard, is a claw mark It would make sense if awakening Cerberus allows him to truly become three people, enabling him to have three fruits: Cerberus (zoan), Tremor (paramecia), and Dark (logia).
So that means some devil fruits doesn't need conquerors haki to awakened. Because we know doffy and katakuri has it but doesn't like it contributes to their awakening unlik luffy who truly needs the power of his conquerors haki to awakened his df when he achieved gear 5th he was full covered by conquerors haki and armament haki just like kaido commented

In my opinion Oda screwed up big time with the power scale involving Rob Lucci. Its total BS that Luffy had to go gear 5 to defeat him when Luffy defeated him before with gear 3. I understand that he awakened his power and everything but are you honestly telling me that Rob Lucci is stronger than Doflamingo?? I mean at least gear 4 snake man or something like that but even still it's ridiculous to me. Smh...
It does make sense zoan awakened is a lot tougher physically to fight than someone with an awakened paramecia as their physical attributes are enhanced but with an awakened paramecia once you’ve experienced one you’ve pretty much experience them all
