Never hit "record" in the software BEFORE you press "play" on the VCR. You must do the opposite and always press "play" on the VCR first. Let the VCR run for about 5 seconds, then begin recording with the Elgato software. Failure to do so can result in a digital file where the lip-sync is off for the ENTIRE recording.

Since Elgato doesn't support real PAL, I can't test the product. But I have seen that horizontal image fluctuations (time base error) are not suppressed by the YT encoder. So for me it's pure electronic waste.
Saves as Mpeg 4 files at the original resolution of 640 × 480p ?? What do you think of the image, is there a difference compared to the source (8mm tape)??

Use the Dazzle USB capture device, which works with a bunch of software such as OBS, and you can get todo your own deinterlace at higher quality, and choose between a million modern codecs, such as Realtime x264 and x265 (on latest intel CPU UHDs or NVIDIA GPUs), or lossless capture into ffv1 or huffyuv or lossless jpeg, (as in capture lossless in Realtime and encode/edit later, so you do not loose a generation due to re-encode).....YOUR WELCOME
@@charleslimbac7223 I use the Dazzle USB device, a few old ones on ebay, I capture the sound via another sound card which seems more reliable than the Dazzle, I use OBS for capture, at the latest technology codecs, and deinterlace with it using YADIF2, I also use the sharpen plugin for my OCD of getting more details, a matter of personal preference, The codecs I use either HEVC265 on new intel 8gen or newer, and same codec using a modern NVIDA card on the other computer. if your pc is older or slow, you can downgrade to faster codec h264(with hardware encoding cpu or NVIDIA), remember 4:3 scaling and deinterlacing. you can use windows, but I prefer on linux Ubuntu because its lighter, and you don't have those pop ups and updates and computer goes to sleep nonsense as with microsoft

The problem for me is my vcr only has two colors!
do they take up a lot of memory on your pc, or would your recommend saving them on to another device after ?.

My VCR doesn't have a red jack.....
Is there just one? Try putting either the red or white in the one, see if you get sound.

There isn't a noticeable difference that I can see. The original is standard definition. Standard of course is 720 x 576.
