    Sleipner A oil rig in the North Sea for anyone wondering. The main structure is Sleipner A, and Sleipner R and T are connected. Operated by Equinor in the North Sea Sleipner Gas Field.

      @@bigajackthomas7657 Sorry for being sooooo late, try and actually work directly for the petroleum company, and not a contractor, the money is way better, and your employment is very stable. I would suggest a university study of some kind, in the engineers sector, or trade sectors, such as steel fabric, mechanical electrical things like that. Even medical sectors, catering…. Some of the most dangerous jobs on platforms are undersea welders, and are extremely well paid. I believe most undersea welders, were navy clearance divers, but I could be wrong….. Good luck with your dream, one thing that is most difficult working offshore, is leaving family for long periods of time, but you are able to live very comfortably.

    not a lot actually, I guess the last fatality in the norwegian sector involving a helicopter was 15 years ago...ofc once in a while a helicopter has to land on water but usually everyone comes out without a scratch

    • @noelwhittle7922
      @noelwhittle7922 Рік тому

      the first thing a helicopter does when it ditches is roll over and go upside down. Which is why it's such a critical part of the training we all do: underwater escape training.

    Sleipner A was a rig that fell into the sea due to catastrophic failure of struts. This must be pre 91?

    • @krashd
      @krashd 6 років тому +6

      Sleipner A wasn't finished until 1993, what fell in to the sea in 1991 was the struts and base before the platform could even start being built atop of them, they were salvaged and construction continued. This is the platform post-repair as it is today.

    How is that sliepner A? I'm certain it sank into the sea. That can't be it, it sank before the topsides were installed didn't it?

    why isn't there any flag to indicate wind direction which is critical for helos landing?

    • @eduardo700b
      @eduardo700b 4 роки тому +5

      In such windy days, as seen, you can tell its direction just by observing the 'foam' formed on top of the waves. Anyway a wind sock has to be in a visible location. Also, in high winds, as the pilot slows down velocity on final approach, the helicopter tends to align against the wind, this is called 'weather cock' effect.

    nope, the struts fell into the fjord during tests before being taken out to sea, before even the topsides was finished... something wrong with the concrete.
