"I'm going to tell you about the characters' play styles: this one wears jeans in this game, this other guy is a crackhead, these other 7 characters are weird, this character is broken, and I literally have no idea what this one does" Yep sounds like Guilty Gear to me.
I literally just turned the game on. No training mode or anything and the next thing you know a couple hours passed. This game is so fun to just get into and play. I’m really enjoying learning as I go with the character I play.
He probably didn't do it intentionally, but going by what other people have said about him, as well as my own limited experience kinda, Potemkin is very much a relic of the early 2000s, and it's hard to say anything other than "he's the local grappler" now that the grappler concept has evolved in a lot of different ways. I guess if you're a Skullgirls player you could kind of call him a proto-Big Band?
@@capefeather Actually, Pot in the old GG is the one who EVOLVED the grappler archetype. He was way too strong in AC+ that they had to tone him down in AC+R and even then, it was way too ridiculous to deal with. He is the baseline for Tager, Big bang and Broly. Heck, you are not completely even safe at full screen against Pot. He got Goro Daimon ground pound except unblockable and down your ass for a LONG TIME for him to OTG you with a 5K for a full combo (AC+ only). Got a flick that destroyed projectiles AND gave him a complete neutral thanks to his counter moving fire wall. He got a DASH (Yes, all you need is to cancel Hammerfall in quick succession.) Long ass normal for his archetype especially 2S where he VACUUMS your ass for Pot Bustour. Aegis Reflector mixup was obnoxious as well. He's far from a remnant of the past. In fact, they gave him way too much in the past where they had to tone him down in Xrd and Strive.
Recently picked up the game since it was on sale and instantly gravitated twoards millia, she's such a fun character. This is my first time playing a guilty gear game let alone a fighting game that isnt smash bros melee or ultimate so it's really fun to learn these combos and get that rewarding feeling of doing cool shit.
bro LK when i tell you im not lying when i say this. every time i think of something it always pops up. last night i was looking for ggacpr tips and you just post some, the other day or so i was thinking about strive then an announcement is today, when i thought of fighting ex layer the skull o mania skin came to sfv lmao
Just downloaded the game. Yours is the first video I’ve watched. I’m not one of tide dudes who think “I’m gonna figure stuff out for myself and go from there” types. I’m too old for that shit. I have no history with GG. I just know that Jiyuna talks these games up, it is cheap on Steam, and it has rollback. Nice video 👍 I was thinking picking Millia after your character introduction.
Testament has always been my favorite. Hoping they bring him back, but I started replying this on my Vita and.... yeaaaa it's been too long lol. That's the only bad part about old school fighting games. Don't really have a tutorial you just gotta figure it out.
I play a LOT of Order Sol, have for the past three to four years even if only at locals with about 50-100 people playing in my pretty densely populated urban center. I could probably play him with my eyes closed and flowchart out offense with him. I say all that cause tbh Order Sol is all about cheesy offensive set ups and isn't gonna be blocking much either. He's so all in on looping, suffocating offense that ime you're better off just taking the L if you can't get it and blocking in this game with the myriad of ways blocking can't save you from set play bs and mix up just let em murder you and try to mash if they're close. Stealing a turn is more valuable than staying alive longer than you need to not doing your win con cause he NEEDS to be rolling offensively and suffocating opponents with pressure to build resources to loop into more suffocating pressure ad nauseam. Like he's got probably the best offensive close range safe pressure and big damage in the game, but that's all he's got. Play regular Sol or Ky if you wanna play a more traditional kind of game that actually rewards playing defensively, order sol is better when he's just the king of momentum and your opponent has to be the defensive one.
All the kids picking Baiken thinking they're in for a UI Goku experience makes my day. Welcome to Baiken school noobies, tell me how trying to UI kids is going lmao
Probably getting the game so I can practice Anji Mito, get a feel for him and all. Dunno if he’s gonna be the the character that really clicks for me, Axl seems like that one right now, but who knows? Maybe the Oki King is gonna be the true main for me.
Progress more than strive i would say. Xrd had some questionable things and characters lost some things that made them flexible, but overall the game adds a ton of new ideas that move gg concept forward and makes it an easier game to get into compared to xx ac
@@s_e_a3073 I kinda suck and I don't main Millia, but I do play her sometimes. The easy combo structure seems to be something into 2HS>jS>jHS>airdash>j2HS. Depending on the situation you might have to change something, like doing j2HS>Bad Moon to knock down if j2HS alone doesn't, or delaying jHS against Johnny since he's really weird. It's also a bit different if you have to do forward jump instead of neutral jump. And I can't seem to get a knockdown on Baiken with that combo without using meter. But it seems to be an Ok basic structure to improve upon, like you could use 5S to rejump after j2HS instead of going into BM, or you could do 2 air dashes if it's possible against whoever you're fighting.
@@s_e_a3073 The only other combo I know with her is in the corner, after a knockdown I sometimes run up 6K. If it hits you can convert into 236S>5K>5S>jS>jHS>airdash>jHS>airdash>j2HS>236D. After that they bounce and get knocked down outside of the corner, so you can either high/low or cross up. Unlike the other one, I actually labbed that on my own, so it's probably suboptimal as fuck.
depends if you have people to play with ultimately and how willing you are to study the game. In my region lobbies are a bit barren but thankfully I have friends to play with every other weekend. “Chipp is a crackhead” Damn didn’t know we were talking about lore in the breakdowns too
I knew he was a crackhead from his moveset long before I learned any lore lol

Yup. Also tic throws at midrange and some unique movement options

I bought the game today, playing my first fighting game, messing with training. Played Arcade mode and the hours fly really fast.
30 hr in and i still cant execute simple combo consistently
Sol breathes with his whole body
Step 1: Pick Testament
Step 2: Setup Trap
Step 3: Knock them down
Step 4: Ex Beast
Step 5: Badland loop
Step 6: watch them die AND PROFIT
testament 101: 2H into zeinest. ground throw into low curse skull.
