They are in the Canal system. Years ago i ran a narrowboat project on the Leed and Liverpool Canal between Blackburn and Skipton. I kid you not, same senario turtle black one, basking on a log at the side of the canal,in Burnley, but much bigger than the one you saw. I thought it was a helmet of sorts at first glance. The locals used the canal as a dumping ground then. ❤😊 It might have done a runner.......😅
I remember seeing one in a local country park, similar size. One of the "gamekeepers" said sometimes people have them at home not realising they will grow to quite a size, then they release them into the wild!
There a several turtles / large terrapins in a large pond in a town on the outskirts of South West London on the border of Surrey. They've been there for several years. They seem pretty harmless..
In my best northern accent, "turtally amazing" I saw 3 turtles on a couple of logs sticking out the water yesterday at Tritiford Mill pond/lake near me in sunny Birmingham. First time I have seen that, what is going on?
@@BasketCasebecause introduced non-native species usually wreak havoc on the native ecosystems and invariably displace native species plants and animals . American mink, crayfish, grey squirrel, snails, terrapin, knotweed...............

DO NOT PICK IT UP.
If you do it is illegal to release it again. We have two rescue turtles in our pond at home in Wolverley 😊
Mine used to eat frozen sausages...
There’s about a dozen in a local lake here on Teesside at hemlington looks like folks have released them when they realise how smelly they are 🙄
Is this the fake alien invasion or have the turtles come to save us?
There are all over from the midlands to south, many years in the future it will become a normal sight
Is it really a Turtle or just a discarded 3 day old cornish pasty ?
And you keep denying global warming Geoff...😂
Cool 🐢😎
I have seen a lot more Master Splinter's than these guys.
It’ll have your fingers off!
