- Welcome to the second episode in my Cities Skylines series where i will focus on detailing interesting scenes and locations which inspire me.
In this episode we will step into nature with a Waterfall build, a lake and lake town all set in a mountain setting. The build is inspired by Snowdonia National Park in Wales, UK.
The build uses quite a number of mods on Thunderstore, including Extra Landscaping Tools, Map Replacer Mod, Water Features and Anarchy. The purpose of the series is to show that detailing is possible in this early released version of the game and what can be done already with the tools we have and a bit of creativity.

The absolute possibilities of Cities Skylines 2 are promising beyond belief. Just wait a year or so and I can't even imagine what you'll be capable of achieving!

This is the most exciting thing to happen to CS2 since launch. If modders are able to make this accessible outside of dev they may safely the game, again
simply wow, level of creativity and detail far beyond what I've imagined possible with the game (at this stage)
A brush instead of an area tool for the textures would be awesome in the game and i hope the devs will implement this in the near future.

This is insane, you're a bloody magician with this stuff. I came from twodollarstwenty's video and you've completely blown away my expectations for things that can be created in this game. Can't wait to tune in every video to see the beautiful things you create in the future

I live on the doorstep of Y Eryri, and many of the spots you've designed really capture the essence of the area! I felt like I could identify locations that served as inspiration for specific parts of this build. It's fantastic. The textures you made are fantastic too. In a way, it makes me all the more sad about what the unmodded game is like.
I've found the limits of what I could do in the base game so disappointing, having tried several times before Christmas to make something inspired by the Welsh towns and villages of my area that were built up around farming and quarrying industry, but finding the design restrictions and lack of assets just made me give up eventually. The game would be so much better if we could build in this way, instead of the ass-backwards inorganic 'grid n zone n hope for the best' approach it pushes us into. But seeing what folk like yourself can achieve give me hope for the future of the game's dev and mod scene

Try not to be disappointed with the game, there’s a lot we can do already and it’s just going to get better from here, especially when we get custom assets! It’ll be a great day when that happens. 🙌
Snowdonia is magical place and I am so glad you have used it as an inspiration. This is simply put a creation out of this world! Pure talent and beauty! CS1 and CS2 community is what makes these games to stand out.
This is the best build in C:S2 Ive seen so far it's incredibly good i cant even imagine how many hours this took you. Even though im still kind of disappointed with the state of release of the game, it seems like the modding capabilities are even better than C:S1 with all the extremely powerful mods that have been appearing in just a few months.

This is beyond my understanding, I’ve always reputed myself a good builder and in my main city I’ve created many good custom buildings I’m very proud of, but in this video you’ve literally pissed on my ego 😂, Il try to build a national park taking inspiration from this and make my own attempt, anyway I absolutely love your work, keep it up you’re showing to everyone why this game can be the best cities skylines game

Wow, that`s truly amazing project. City feels so cozy and it gives so much Arcadia Bay (from Life is Strange) and the Sims`es cities vibes). Also amount of the details and quality overall with THAT few instruments available yet, just unbelievable.
This is absolutely breathtaking, Sully. I'm just in awe. I did my own mountain streams video last week and think I may need to use some of your techniques to make it look more than halfway decent. I'm definitely inspired to up my game now (no pun intended). Keep this stuff coming.
Congrats, this is stunning ! The thing I liked the most is that you took time to explain your thought process and the assets and recipes you ended up using. Sure right now CS2 i quite limited in terms of assets but limitations have also always been known to foster creativity, as you brilliantly demonstrated.

really enjoying your builds and detailing videos. personally i am glad that some of the bigger CC are taking a step back from the game while they wait until it meets their expectations because since then, i found many great smaller CC that somehow still manage to create great content with the limited tools and assets the vanilla game currently provides.
Maybe I am different than most because i sailed to sea for many years and on a ship, i learned to make the best out of the limited resources that are provided, so I kind of accept the unfinished state the game currently is in and try to make the best of it.
I started playing the game for the city building and simulation when it launched and stayed for the "city painting", which got way more fun as well once i started using mods and the dev tools for detailing last month.
Modding community is also great because they also keep on making great mods despite the limited support from CO/PDX, making the best out of what is currently given to them.
Honestly some of the best CS2 work I’ve seen I can’t wait to play the game when it fully ready

Amazing work and findings. After 5 hours of trial and error I've crated a transparent texture, with the adequated tile pattern size, but the mask map is killing me 😅 thanks for sharing this knowledge.

Man, that's just amazing...
If I can help with something: in the dev menu there is a church, the cementery expansion. You first select from the dev menu the cementery and with it decide the orientation that the building's gonna have (you can't change it later) then press escape and then select the church expansion. You can do this with all buildings expencions of any kind and they'll actually affect the game as they were a normal part of it. Another thing: for the props that cant be removed I suggest the Better Bulldozer mod from Yenyang, it can remove almost anything in the game.
Please keep doing this, you're an inspiraton for all of us and it's time that someone shows the thrue potential of the game, not just complain about it.

Great magicians don't reveal their secrets but I'm glad you did.
No idea I can remake this but I'm going to try after the mods will show all props with images. Now it's hard.
One tip that you maybe already know of, but you can also search invisible and use an invisible Footpath. So sims can use your paths!
Have you tried using better bulldozer and toggling on the game manipulation mode to delete the trailers? Ive been able to delete vehicles and trailers I've placed from dev mode using that. I haven't tried deleting those specific trailers yet though.

There's a new rock surfaces (EAI Rocky Surfaces) that help a lot in recreating rock effect, still must use the boulders and bushes of course 🙂
