Nice to see the Bulgarian route. Will do that someday. I chose to defend the Hungarians, where the Austrians were quite challenging with their paladins and elite teutonic knights and siege. But inmediately attack 2 or 3 Hungarian villages makes your ally really strong and gives them time to build an army. With combining forces you can overcome the Austrians. Really fun scenario so I'm interested in playing with the Bulgarians.
Seriously, they constantly provide you 10 Konniks for free until you defeat the Latins, and they can perfectly defend their wonder themselves without too much help
@@NixDarkLordI don’t kno if they can defend the wonder nah e I destroyed the city to much but I went for the destroy of Byzantine it took for ever had to build 6 castles and two befor the river and then two n thier base
1. That swampy piece of land to the south-east is a shortcut to destroy Latin's Wonder. It has a land for a clear shot that is blocked form the Latin base by a forest. You may send those two trebs there directly from the beginning. 2. It is possible to neutralize Latins without triggering Byzantine trigger. They do not rebuild, so destroying buildings = destroying production. All three stables are reachable for the outside, as well as the siege workshop - that alone minimizes Latin threat. The Northern castle can be reached if the first row of the walls is cleared. The rest abuses the way the Byzantine trigger works. First, the trigger zone doesn't cover the whole base. Second, it doesn't care for peasants (this will be useful later). So it is possible to enter the base by cutting the forest which blocks the passage mentioned in 1 and destroy TC and the rest of production except for the southern castle. That one you don't want to destroy as it leads to Latin's defeat, Bulgarian wonder construction trigger and Byzantine transports. Those are aggressive towards you and if you kill one of those the Byzantine trigger plays out. Left with just one castle Latins will be giving you trebs and axe-men till they run out of the resources. If you spare the market you can trade yourself as much gold as you want since Byzantine trigger doesn't trigger on carts. With that you can engage the Byzantines whenever you are ready. 3. You can enter the Hungarian route! The gaia wonder castle on the Hungarian side can be spotted by a treb's sight range. That will give you some peasants on the other side which is all you need to beat Austrians and the Nobles. The triggers will be broken though, so it's just beating up statists.
I just made this level weeks ago. It is totally different now in hard difficulty. Especially for the Byzantines, they spam a lot of trash units to swallow your troops and they even knew sending troops by ships to attack from the back. How smart they are now.
Was only able to complete this finally today thanks to new graphics drivers. Nice variability in the scenario. It takes time to mow down the Austrians and Hungarian Nobles.
I just tried this. The Franks are not difficult. But the Byzantines are really difficult. Their cheap pikemen and skirms were asking for 4-5 siege onagers... so I got them, my kipchaks, horse archers and few trebs and kept spamming paladin with a 75+ vil eco. The slow siege push in was unstoppable.
They've increased the difficulty of this mission considerably. I was also wondering! But there is now more gold and more help from the Bulgarians: www.ageofempires.com/news/aoe2de-update-34055/
@@borslab jup just played the mission on hard difficulty and it's a lot different. Monks, catapults and endless stream of foot soldiers spamming now. I did it with the unique units combined with paladins. enough gold for building those
Finished this campaign 2 days ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel that I prefer the newest campaign (Prithviraj!) than the original one (disappointed by Genghis Khan), is this a common opinion?
Ornlu don't know the stuff that you can make a trigger to convert building and units to gaia to make them unclaimable or just to use as training targets O:
is it possible to convert some docks from the Latin Empire or become an enemy of Bulgarians so that we could get the transportation ship to the other side?
The Hungarian route of this mission is much better. Although the Hungarian Ai snow balls way to hard and can solo the mission when you reach a certain point.
A question: Does Latin Empire always build Wonder? I played twice and in the second time, they do not build the Wonder but instead play very aggressively.
really? I am low elo and even I could beat red. You just have to build like 2 castles in your base and defend against the waves of red's attack while booming at the back and you can take out red eventually
Going to Bulgaria and fighting the Latins (aka Franks) is harder because of the Frankish super-tanky Paladins and annoying axemen, followed by a Byzantine attack. I was better off in Hungary, where blue would do some help in defeating red and orange.
Again another easy mission that today is extremly challenging. These franks are a joke. I've played this today, and they send you waves of paladins once you manage to enter the city, they use scorpions and mass produce halbadeers. This is dissapointing. And the bizantines send tons of everything, besides their villagers are constanly building towers and a heavily fortified second base near your TC.

Yeaah
Totally agree. I was enjoying the history lesson. Never really cared for it when I was in school.

if you stay, you pretty much kill off the nobles that hate you, and the red dude from the last mission.
is it possible to convert some docks from the Latin Empire or become an enemy of Bulgarians so that we could get the transportation ship to the other side?
Cumans don't get Redemption and the Transportation Ships seen earlier in the game just sail away and disappear.
The Hungarian route of this mission is much better. Although the Hungarian Ai snow balls way to hard and can solo the mission when you reach a certain point.
Even after their central castle is destroyed they can still make a comeback if you beat the Austrians quick
@@inconemay1441 maybe I took too long to take out red? because when I was playing, blue had been useless.
Maybe you can do an alternate scenario where the Cumans stayed in Hungary
Defend the Hungarian was much easier, once the Austrian is defeated, the Hungarian nobles will just go down

Yep, sometimes they don't for no apparent reason.
