Mackinder’s Eagle Owl enrichment

Here’s Kilifi, our young Mackinder’s eagle owl, practicing her hunting skills on some items hidden in your Christmas trees!
The Mackinder’s (or Cape) eagle owl is native to parts of Eastern and Southern Africa, with habitats including hilly country, mountainous regions and savannah. Some will also visit human settlements to roost and hunt feral pigeons.
Kilifi lives with her mate Nakuru here at the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, and we hope one day to see the pair produce eggs.
