It's even better with the Catelyn x Maddie scene at the start of the 2nd act, where they cut out Maddie, where the two are together in a shot, making it look like Maddie isn't real and Catelyn is talking to a ghost
Then june comes by and you will have Riot saying some shit like "We will always be proud" featuring this exact segment of Arcane or similar from these two in their tweet.
You want to show your show to an audience in China. The government forces you to censor it or not show it at all. This is a tiny part of the show, so why not do it? This has nothing to do with "pandering to woke" (they do it a lot anyway but this is not it). Nobody who makes art, especially as a product, decide to NOT do this type of edit if possible. The alternative is that your story never sees the light of day - which, once again, this lesbian sht in Arcane takes up almost nothing in the show. All of you are clearly not real artists nor do you seem to care about art. If it was a show about lesbians, they wouldn't censor anything - they would simply not air it there. What about countries where the government doesn't allow tabaco products or any sex or any arbitrary rule they can come up with. For those places, you do a tiny change to appease that government so that your audience can get something. Look what Riot did with the Lil' Nas X song he for them for the 2022 world championship. They censored it. Why? Because in many places those lyrics are inappropriate (I'd argue that for what the song is for it really was a great decision and imo even sounds better when censored). Certain sponsors and venues might not endorse the event because of it. There is often a lot more to censorship than money. Money is definitely a factor, sometimes a huge factor. But there is a ton of artistic decisions behind censorship. I think this Chinese version of Arcane is objectively worse, but it is still probably one of the best shows people in China got to ever watch - especially with League being so incredibly massive there. Punishing people for what their government does (especially in a non-democratically elected government) is arguably more evil than this stubbornness you people seem to advocate for, for some weird moral superiority. It's almost like you do the same sht as the woke people where you virtue signal but in a completely different way but it's all the same. You would censor Arcane too if you were in charge of it. And if you weren't you'd be incredibly stupid.
I keep saying it. Companies most often don't really have much of an alignment. They have an objective and for that they'd do everything. Case in point: The same company that fully supported Hitler's Nazi Party, also sold their products to the Allied forces post WW2 as "liberal" company, then rebranded to the modern audience and now does the censoring of that in China. Which company am I talking about? Several answers are actually correct and you'd be surprised how long the list gets. Sales Strategy will always trump alignment.

I actually think it's genious the way they've done it. It's so obvious something is off and it's really easy to put 2 and 2 together to realize what or who is missing in those shots.
The Iranian censor is even funnier. Fortiche had to censor what iran considers to ''revealing', but it's really lazily done so you end up with scenes like Caitlyn showering with a black loose fitted t-shirt

As a Chinese, I am dying of laughter when I see you guys discussing this.😂 In fact, most of the audiences in our country know that what we are watching is deleted. After all, there are uploaders everywhere who release the deleted parts, and there are complete pirated versions on the Internet. Most of the people who don't know are people who don't know how to use the Internet. You asked me how I view the deletions, I can only say that it is an old tradition, but it's actually not that bad. It used to be more excessive, but now it is becoming more and more open. In summary, we feel a little funny and helpless about the deleted version, but we can also easily see the uncut version on the Internet, that's it.

Apparently the CCP got wind that the comic had GL in it and threaten to sue the author if she continued the GL thus as far as it seems the manhua no longer plans to continue its original plot. Now I need to see the Chinese version of Dragon Age Veilguard.
Then june comes by and you will have Riot saying some shit like "We will always be proud" featuring this exact segment of Arcane or similar from these two in their tweet.
Yeah but only in the Western Twitter. In their chinese ones they praise Mao and the cultura, revolution or Tencent will start firing people.
Money. .. umm... yea thats it.

Because they are two women showing affection , that’s why they erased the scene, they dont want to show that they’re a couple.
These characters are not supposed to be gay, Netflix made them gay. I suspect that in China they respect the original lore, and don't want to see it changed just because of DEI.
I particularly hate this couple vii and Cait, but I agree, this censorship is unnecessary, there was nothing explicit
Honestly I didn't know before watching this. I just thought one's sitting and the other's standing.
Just proves that it’s nothing but shallow virtue signalling and they don’t mean a word of it
virtue signaling is when you give 90% of the world a well-written gay relationship thats complicated and doesnt fall for many queer problematic tropes (like when they kill them off and never giving happy endings) and comply to the parent company of riot to make it palatable for their audience. sure. homophobia in china is just not Riots battle to fight like what do you want

However recently the comic stop having any sort of plot with new chapters just random shenanigans feature female mc, her girlfriend and her friend group. Apparently the CCP got wind that the comic had GL in it and threaten to sue the author if she continued the GL thus as far as it seems the manhua no longer plans to continue its original plot.
Sucks a little cause the progression of the Female Mc and her girlfriend's relationship was really well written and wholesome as fuck. Plus the dozens of unresolved plotlines such as Female Mc's best friend and wingman (mop head) not having a girlfriend himself despite the fact that the plot tease it with his interactions with another side character.

PS: Gay couples in media are always instantly together like magnets (I mean the person they pick is never NOT gay too, or just not into them personally) while with straight couples it's tragedies, one dies or died, up in the air or the guy has to save the universe for maybe a vague confirmation.
At this point I'd think people would be more surprised if characters were straight and hook up.

It would be nice if these companies wouldnt force the shit down our throats in every show video game or movie these days.
How are they forcing anything? Most characters in arcane are straight, just like in real life.
There was a straight seggs scene in season 1 and the most beloved couple, Jinx and Ekko, are also straight.
They have ONE gay couple in there and you snowflakes are already screeching.

I guess that a large amount of leagues player base is in China, quickly did some research and found that there's 70 million league players monthly in China. I'm sure many of those players would be interested in Arcane and probably wouldn't be very happy if riot pulled out and didn't release that last episode or the second season at all. It's a shame their country is ran that way but at least they get to see it instead of not seeing it at all.

I don't really get Asmon's argument here. What is Riot supposed to do, not release Arcane in China completely?
Also, saying there are no spoilers in the video and immediately showing Cait with an eye patch is a certified "bruh" moment.
Riot is supposed to shut up about pretending to be for inclusion and diversity. I think that is the point.
