Skipped Marvel Zombies because I have more than enough Marvel on my shelf, and at the time I hadn’t ever played a Zombicide game. Since then, I’ve played Black Plague and loved it, and as a huge DC fan, this game seems like potentially the best DC Universe board game to come out (especially if you’re talking the whole universe instead of just Batman). Very excited for this one, for me this isn’t so much about backing or not as it is trying to figure out how many expansions I want.
@@davyheijlands1956Probably will upgrade on backerkit, but funds are tight with all the various campaigns lately. So far, got Arkham Asylum, Gotham Knights and Green Lantern Corpse
I'm in at $1 for now given how expensive this month has been for me, but will likely upgrade to the Omega pledge in the pledge manager. The only box I was considering skipping was the Green Lantern pledge since I've never followed them in the comics or various cartoon adaptations. I'm very much excited for this set, having read DCeased they did a pretty good job staying thematically connected to the source material. I also appreciate that the system is unofficially compatible with MZ.
Well now they just released a new optional buy giving you the ability to just buy 1 or 2 of those mini types, and get those without the base game. Thanks again CMON, for completely undermining by "complete information" video :) But in all seriousness....my new budget recomendation is get the base pledge, 2 of the "zombie type" packs and call it a day....asssuming you have the self control to do so of course.
People are really focused on quantity and not quality. The blogs make it pretty clear that they are experimenting more mechanically than MZ, so I am most excited to see the refined gameplay.
I'm a much bigger DC fan than a marvel one, so I'm very happy to get a version of the game with some pretty deep cut characters that I care about. I think you're 100% on point about it feeling pretty unneeded if you already own marvel though, outside of wanting a slightly refined Hero mode and some more plastic and tiles to slam down. They really shoulda spaced this at least another 6 months or so to let the new toy feel for MZ wear out a little more.
I think that allowing player elimination and nightmare mode are the best changes in this game. Because zombicide with rush, extra activation, etc. cards make the game swingy or luck-based. With player elimination, it makes the game less swingy and luck based. I can see that this will probably be the best hero mode zombicide game. Hope they playtest this game more and avoid typo and grammatical errors unlike marvel zombies. Avoid something like rocket racoon blue ability which is useless as his normal attack is stronger
I'd really love to get my hands on that Zombie Giganta, but I can't be going All-In on this. Probably just base Pledge, maybe some KS-Exclusive Expansions (Unkillables and Shadow Pact include some big Favs of mine), and wait till retail for the rest (none of the KS-Bonuses for buying those in the KS appeal to my interests).
You appear to have overlooked the number one reason this game is low on funds: it’s the time of year when people are busy buying presents for their families. Few of us have an extra $400 right now to give to a company we don’t trust all that much anyway.
Late to this but this isn't the number one reason. MZ was announced late November 2021 and did nearly 4x the numbers (according to KS, unsure gamefound numbers). MZ was nearly a month closer to the holiday season than this was. He didn't skip over anything. Halloween was a great time to launch this game. If anything, it was just a bit too close to MZ and could have spaced it out more from it given people just recieved their games.
They've also added premium dice a bit after you posted this video, and this is the first time I'm tempted to get multiple sets. They just look so good.
You bring up a great point regarding the aftermarket value. I will say that before this video, I was focusing on just plucking out the various boxes that I wanted. This essentially meant that I was looking at pretty much all the going-to-retail boxes. I don't have a strong desire for Undead Gods or Shadowpact. I was toying with the idea of Unkillables primarily due to the additional Bat roster that interests me more than anything. However, bringing up the point that I could, because I'm currently able, go for the Omega Pledge to help offset some of the cost afterwards. There is a bit of "strangeness" to putting money down like this as an odd "investment" but I can see that working. Also... if it all flops and I sell what I don't really desire at base cost, there is still a bit of a discount regardless. Very worst scenario, I know I would ultimately enjoy having the greater roster to pick from.
Ya, I never encourage buying things to "make money", there are easier ways to do that. But I do focus on "if I want these things, what's the cheapest way to get them" and "if these things don't work out for me, have I lost $450? Or can I get that back"
Backed at $1 and will decide next year. Backed Marvel Zombies and surprised at the retail prices at the minute. More expensive in retail than I thought it would be.
Backing at $1 for now. Bought Marvel Resistance and gonna play it during Xmas time. If we like it, I'll up the pledge 😁 I'll only get the Arkham Asylum expansion though.
You're gonna love it! It's the best Zombicide. You should try and read the DCeased comics. You'll be wanting the big expansions at least if you do! Shadowpact looks like my favorite expansion after reading the comics. Happy gaming!
I have most of the Marvel Zombies content, other than the KS stretch goal box and Galactus, but DC is much more appealing to me. The characters are more appealing and the world fits a zombie theme better. The big sell for me though, is that by sticking with the same system, I can play a mix of DC and Marvel heroes together. Very much looking forward to this game to ship… in 18 months.
I think it will hit 2.5 mil. There are a lot of $1 backers (myself included) who will be upping our pledge. My wallet is still feeling the sting of my all -in MZ pledge and as much as I’d like to add my full pledge to the goal, I’m going to have to wait. Also, there are a few less addons I’m interested in with this campaign. So probably no All in for this one.
So I'm going all in because I feel like every box has a couple heroes I want as a once avid comic-book reader. But I think I can stop backing Zombicides after this because I'm not sure if there are any other Zombie IPs that I'd get this system for. Certainly not The Walking Dead, which have their own games anyway. I might get the 2.0 modern game if they release a more thematically specific Dawn of the Dead or Train to Busan expansion for it, or a separate box for one of those games if they want to pull a Night of the Living Dead. But I'll have enough Zombicide content after this and MZ that I don't think I'll need any more Zombicides again.
I’m in for $1 until I get to play Marvel Zombies with my wife and see if she even likes it before dropping a ton on this. I love Zombicide and the main DC Heroes/villains so picks for me would be base and the two batman expansions. Though mechanically I love the Darksied boom tubes.
I got everything except for Galactus for Marvel Zombies. I'll be getting the core, Arkham Asylum, and enemy pack. I'm just looking at it as an awesome (expensive) expansion for MZ 🤷🏾♂️
This is an easy all in purchase for me. I was leaning towards skipping the Lantern expansion and unkillables. They dont feel like they pull from the story if the comic much, and no tiles. But the omega pledge exclusives and small 35 discount makes it a no brainer. Im more of a DC fan. Only other zombicide i have us UorA core, MZ Heroes Reistance, and the Xmen resistence core box. This is perfect for me. Seems like the best "version" of Zombicide yet, most accesible. And my favoeite thing about MZ is how the abilities and objects feel "thematic" to the actual heroes. And this campaign has that dialed in better than ever before.
4hrs to go - nearly $2.4M - I'm all in and looking forward to playing this mixed in with my Marvel content (which I appreciate CMON will not be allowed to talk about!)...liking the content, confess DC a def. less known for me than DC (lots more unknown characters)...able to play Marvel vs. DS is going to be flippin' amazing!!!!
So one of the other discrepancies with how many daily goals were given for this compared to MZ is that with no zombie mode most of the Dailies for this game were new characters, where as in Marvel Zombies the dailies were mostly the opposite version of already existing characters. Almost all the 90+ characters in MZ had a living version with all but around 20 having a zombie version that was playable. DCeased has around 100+ characters with 80+ living and almost 50 being Anti-Living.
The problem for me is that every box contains something I want so as always I will be a good little consumer, open my wallet and throw my money at cmon...luckily it seems I'm safe next year.
Fully backed. Got Marvel , & love DC, also enjoy painting them. Going to do crossover with the hero’s to. Happy gamer here and game nights will be a blast
I just completed checkout on this one, all-in. The deadline to submit your pledge is today, March 31st. I don’t own any other Zombicide. I skipped Marvel Zombies, Undead or Alive, and White Death. I missed the other previous campaigns. I almost got Marvel Zombies, but there were a few things I didn’t like. The virus only affected superheroes in the story (?) and no items?
I originally did not want to back this game. But these stretch goals are really brining me in and game play side. I think it’s superior to marvel zombies. I didn’t get my pledge yet. And I am all in on white death. I’m just the hero mode - this game will be better. Since it has equipment and it has villains with card decks for more variety on abilities.
Never played Zombicide, was interested in MZ but missed that and there is too much stuff that I wouldn’t be able to get now so I’ll never bother with MZ. With DC though I’ve got in at the beginning and generally I prefer DC comics and characters anyway. I’ve gone for the $1 pledge for now but when the PM comes in I’ll go for Omega. Think the game and figures look brilliant.
For me one of the biggest factors is I just dropped $400+ on an all in on White Death 6 months ago. Combine that with already owning Undead or Alive all in, base Marvel Zombies, and most of Invader/Black Ops do I really need/want to spend $400+ on another flavor of Zombicide? That being said if I would have known this was coming so soon after White Death I probably would have skipped that one and gotten this instead but it's to late for that so DCeased gets a skip.
@@gingernparadise2228 I did think about doing that and while I would prefer DCeased it's not by a very large margin so I ultimately decided not to pull the trigger considering the fees involved
@@crazysloth1762 Ironically enough. I backed White death + turtles out of fomo, before I ever knew of DCeased. I had never played any Zombicide. But after further research I learned UorA is known for it's difficulty. But MZ:HR is so fun, great balance, awesome powers. Can't wait for DCeased. Happy gaming!
I dropped from Omega to $1 close to the end and will decide in the pledge mananger if i actually want this. I'm mostly worried about the shipping to the UK making the all in simply silly money. Thanks for your thoughts!
Interesting they have now released a separate add-on with just the extra horde zombies. So maybe reduces the value of those expansions that include them
With the inflated Covid Shipping prices I paid almost $800 for Marvel Zombies and without Zombie mode there just isn't enough here for me at $400 Also I just backed Dicethrone X-men ALL THE THINGS at $600
I’ll admit the lack of a Zombie mode is disappointing. I know most Zombicides don’t let you play Zombies but with Marvel “opening that up” for Super Heroes DC Zombicide SHOULD also have it. I wasn’t going to back this, but I have almost every Zombicide and, well, Marvel & DC heroes working together is awesome. This news almost makes me want to un-back it… but I think I’m still too going to get it.
I'm honestly a bit surprised that isn't doing a bit better. Yes the Marvel Zombies has just started arriving to backers and yes today it is a bigger IP in mainstream popculture and more recognized by the masses. But in comparison I actually think DCeased brings a lot to the table, and Alex I think the comparision that it "only" allows you to play as the Heroes as compared to M.Z is a bit disingenuous, as you needed to pay $240 for both systems, while the $130 version of both games only offer one playstyle. But apart from that this campaign adds back Items, highly asked for in M.Z, has less characters locked behind the K.S exclusive in the expansions only 6 compared to 16. Also feel like they aren't as essential to the game as some of the K.S expansion exclusives in M.Z, only feel like I'm missing out on not getting the Joker Super Hero. Though a few more of the expansions are K.S exclusive I'll grant that. This gives backers, as I'm most likely doing, the option of buying the core and add the K.S exclusvie expansions I'm interested in and waiting for the others to hit retail without feeling I'm missing out. I'm, most likely, not going for the Omega pledge as I don't find the character and 3D moddels added are enough for me to justify it. Overall I'm a lot more positivly inclined towards this campaign as compared to both M.Z and White Death, maybe not Undead or Alive, which are the only others I've followed closly. Added I did intially pledge for M.Z but dropped out due to the shipping costs to Sweden and the VAT tax added to the shipping pushed my out. I didn't pledge for White Death as I own none of the previous Medival Zombicides and in retrspect I do regret not backing Undead and Alive.
@@BoardGameCo yepp just looked back and there were at least as many backers, if not more, at $240 than $130. But still as always, very informative and good video Alex!
Your content has been so helpful for all of this! I can't emphasize that enough, and I greatly appreciate all of it. ...but also, do you hate puns? It's DCeased; a play on "deceased" because zombies, and yeah, Green Lantern "Corpse", because again, zombies. But you insist on pronouncing it like "D-seized" and then "corps". It's such a relatively small thing, but given that the creators are paying you for content, and they've included these "clever " puns, don't they want you to say them properly? If it's a conscious choice on your part, okay, but if you're missing the joke, there you go...
The addition of Weapons is a big one for me, it bring loot back to zombicide. Multiple Bystanders following you on the board is new but you could easily implement that on Marvel as well. Either way, I have NEVER backed a zombicide KS so I'm going all in once to see how it is like. Then I can just buy Marvel Zombies at retail to have the human minis so I can get homebrew ID cards for the DC abominations and play with them.

I really want to back this. But I have marvel and x men and stretch goals. It makes no sense to back this. If they made it in the style of death may die or heman, I would back this game easily.

I thought that way too, but then I watched King of Average's video and saw how excited he was about all these weird and obscure (to me) characters that are apparently from the story. So, I guess how interesting they are depends on how into the DCeased comics you are. No way Calendarman is the most powerful, they are missing out by not including Condiment King who would beat him sauce down.
Oh, hands down.
Who doesn't love Calendar Man, Kite Man and Rag Man.
To be honest, I never heard of them.... upside of Marvel is the characters definitely are better known plus.
@@XileboW lol, I think they are ridiculous and was being fairly facetious!
And Condiment King!
@@BoardGameCo All in baby!!! Don't worry Plastic Man's got him covered!!
Absolutely fair, one thing I would point out, is the fact that people have to pay $240 is part of why the other campaign had a higher total
@@BoardGameCo yepp just looked back and there were at least as many backers, if not more, at $240 than $130. But still as always, very informative and good video Alex!
ALL IN BABEH! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Have fun with it 🙂
Your content has been so helpful for all of this!
Do the DCeased characters feel unique in regards to not being copy pasted versions of Marvel Zombicide characters?
Hard to say until I play a lot more characters
I love this gamee🎉
The addition of Weapons is a big one for me, it bring loot back to zombicide. Multiple Bystanders following you on the board is new but you could easily implement that on Marvel as well. Either way, I have NEVER backed a zombicide KS so I'm going all in once to see how it is like. Then I can just buy Marvel Zombies at retail to have the human minis so I can get homebrew ID cards for the DC abominations and play with them.
I wonder if they will have a cheap retail version like they did for Marvel Zombies
yes they will
It's greedy for CMON to run a DC Zombicide Kickstarter, when many have not gotten or played their Marvel Zombies.
It's a lot, it's hard to keep up.
I dont know, wanna back up any Cmon product anymore.
I haven't received my copies of Marvel Zombicide.(Galactus pledge).thats weird, people in Australia,Thailand and Singapore getting it last year.My place.havent heard a news from my local store where I ordered it...to be honest.lost the will to play it already.and move on towards Marvel Crisis protocol.maybe if got my Marvel Zombicide,I just resell it 25% off...
Thanks Cmon...
No, it's too much stuff that they try to say is kickstarter exclusive.
That's fair
I really want to back this. But I have marvel and x men and stretch goals. It makes no sense to back this. If they made it in the style of death may die or heman, I would back this game easily.
give it time and the homebrew community will provide. ;) (without getting ahead of myself, i already have ideas for CDMD x Marvel/DC. gimme a couple years and i'll have a system and a campaign on bgg lol.)
@@davidautinify oh sweet! Let's go!
I still think cmon needs to take their heman game and add thundercats, gi Joe, and transformers. That game system is just so fun for me
Stop it, but I’d also be in for Zombicide Hot Wheels, Zombicide My Little Pony and Zombicide Star Wars.
已經All in了...但是沒有守望者擴展包有點可惜....
No zombie mode was a huge miss.
I don't disagree, personally. I prefer the other mode, but why not cater to everyone. At the same time, it clearly wasn't cmons decision
The only expansion that tempts me is Arkham Asylum, the rest and the stretch goals are just a bit meh. Much as I like DC it’s not enough to know / want all these other characters. I think retailer even a different retail Zombicide for me.
I'm not a fanboy or attacking any side.
But this is just a Marvel Zombicide reskin right?
Pretty much same gameplay right?
What is th' difference between Zombicide Marvel and DC?
It sounds like you’re saying diseased and not deceased
Only interested in this for Batman alone
It's a decent reason.
This is the easiest skip for me. Went all in for marvel zombies and DCeased is missing the only DC characters i would actually want to play, Doom Patrol.
Awww, sorry about that.
Easy pass. 1 Zombicide is enough. It is all basically the same game every time with a new theme.
Only the Batman villains are interesting. The rest of DC, meh.
CMON is really milking Zombicide for all they can.
Dang I made one comment on a live that Prof Meg was hot and got a permaban from Alex's channel - you can't hide from the truth, Alex, she's an attractive woman and you get more clickthrough when you put her in thumbnails... You've seen your metrics, you know it's true!!!
Anyways I'm sorry for the compliment, please unban me so I can talk about board games here lol
You haven't been banned, your comment was deleted that's all. But also...there's a balance in being complimentary vs unnecessary attention. It's a fine line I'll grant, but I will choose to err on the side of caution.
@@BoardGameCo no really I think I was banned lol. I commented on this vid asking whether you prefer Hero Mode or Zombie Mode and the comment is just totally vanished and I don't think you're able to see anything from "Frightful Failures" in your chat. So yeah lol I'm sorry again if you wanna look into un-banning
The DC characters are far from interesting except for a couple
I think it very much depends on who you are.
I thought that way too, but then I watched King of Average's video and saw how excited he was about all these weird and obscure (to me) characters that are apparently from the story. So, I guess how interesting they are depends on how into the DCeased comics you are. People with only a passing knowledge of the major DC heroes (like me), or people who only watch the movies, won't know who most of these superheroes are.
Since Marvel has put out a lot more movies, that was less of an issue for them.
