- I was asked by the coordinators of The Puzzle Olympics to create this video in order to help interested puzzlers understand the rules and procedures of this event. I have been participating in the Puzzle Olympics for a few years now and thought it would be useful to have this guide available. I have provided time stamps below if you wish to go back and review certain sections.

Excellent explanation of this event. I have enjoyed participating in it since its inception and you did a great job. Thank you!
Thank you!
Thanks. You did a great job clearly explaining a kind of complicated process. I’m looking forward to participating.
Thank you. Hope you enjoy paticipating.
Thank you for this amazing video!
You're welcome!
Great video! Can’t wait to participate this summer!
Thank you.
This is wildy complicated 😂 but thanks for the explanation. Why so many steps if it's not a competition!?
All the rules can be overwhelming at first but once you've participated once it becomes easier.
Thanks for this instructive video! You made it very easy to understand how it works. I wanted to participate this summer, but I was a bit overwhelmed with all the rules. I'm definitely going to be participating this winter! I can't wait :)
You're welcome. I'm happy this video was able to clarify things.
Great job in explaining the rules for the olympics! They can be overwhelming, esp when you are just starting out. My first olympics were during this past summer and I also printed out the rules and then hilighted what I knew would be important. I have my puzzles set up and cannot wait for Dec 1st!!
Thank you. Hope you enjoy the Winter Puzzle Olympics.
@@thepuzzlingcanadian hope u do too!!
Great video! You explained the overwhelming rules very well.
Thank you.
This is my 1st year and already have my puzzles ready to go, except for the 3,000 piece. I do not own one and just cannot justify buying one for this (as I do not usually do those bigger counts). Heck, doing a 1,000/1,500 is a challenge for me.
Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks to this event I have found your channel. Like yourself I'm not particularly fast but working on it as would love love to compete. Unfortunately I'm in Scotland and no puzzle events near me. So really excited about this. Loving your videos and have been binge watching.
@@thefrugalknitter8786 Thank you. I hope you have fun with this event.
Sounds fun
Yes, it is.
Great video - just finished watching this and have already joined the ‘training’ FB group. However, I can’t seem to find the actual Olympic group to join and register. Duh!! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you 🙏
Registration has not opened up yet. It'll start November 20th, 2023, so the actual Winter Puzzle Olympic Facebook group for 2023/2024 will only be established at that time. If you've already joined the training group then all the information will be provided there.
Thank you Sandra. I will now note the date!!!
First time on the Winter Olympics if we have a holiday or winter puzzle in the January time frame do they go in the piece count or will they not count?
If you're doing a winter themed puzzle in January then it will go in the piece count but only those rounds that are opened in January. The rounds that are opened in January include 3D, Gold, Closing Ceremonies and Olympic Games. Basically, if you're doing a 1000 piece count or higher in January that is winter themed than it goes in the respective piece count album. But if you are working on a 500 piece puzzle for example then it does not count because that round is closed in January according to schedule.
My question is…what is the puzzle Olympics? Is it a competition? If so, how is it judged/rated/scored?
It is a non competitive event, so there is no winner and no scoring. Puzzlers from around the world just come together and puzzle different piece counts at a specified times. It's just suppose to be fun.
@@thepuzzlingcanadian Where can non participants see the finished puzzles; or can non participants see the finished puzzles?
@@anikaparker1077 I believe you can but you need to join the Facebook group. For the current event it's called 2023/2024 Winter Puzzle Olympic Games
This sounds like fun. What is the objectice? Only one puzzle per roud per person or are you to do as many puzzles as possible per round? Can you participate in more than one round at a time?
The objective is just to share the love of puzzling with other puzzlers around the world. There is no scoring and it is not a race. You can do as many puzzles per round as wish. You don't need to participate in every round. For the Winter Olympics rounds are held at the same time so yes you can participate in more than one round at the same time so long as that round is open. For example, In January you can participate in the Olympic Games doing a large piece puzzle and also participate in the Gold round completing 1000 piece puzzles.
Thank you so much for this. I might just participate.
@@IzebellePuzzleDiaries You're welcome.
Hi, I just have a question about the time. Im' in Europe, so can I do the puzzle, anytime during the month or do I have to do it only during the east coast time? ta for your answer
You will need to complete the puzzle based on the schedule set out and the dates within that schedule. And yes, starting and ending times will need to be calculated based on Eastern Time Zone. You can use a world clock on your phone or laptop to help with that. If you have any further questions, let me know.
Is there a pairs category for parent & child ? 🌍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🌍
There is no pairs category but perhaps your child could join the Junior Olympics.
Ooh. Sounds a bit too complicated to me.
It can be overwhelming at first but then you get use to the process.
