To describe this in one word; Perfect! Perfect vocals, perfect instrumentals, perfect video. Huey Lewis and the News were huge hit makers in the 80's, with their clean, joyful, harmonious sound. Great reaction and glad you really appreciate their sound.
In interviews Huey Lewis credits the harmonies and arrangements from Mutt Lange, who wrote this song. Huey Lewis and members of the News were in Clover 🍀, a Bay Area 🌁 band before it became Huey Lewis and the News. Mutt wrote and produced their final album.
This song is pop perfection, Huey Lewis & The News best song and in my humble opinion one of the best songs of all time. Love this song my favourite from the group, it just makes you feel so good when you hear this track.
Yes! I have always loved Huey Lewis and The News! Theirs is a great rabbit hole to go down. If This Is It, Stuck With You, Heart of Rock And Roll, Doing It All For My Baby and many more!!
I’d forgotten about Doing It All For My Baby, what a great song! I always hold a light for a song from their 1991 album Hard At Play called We Should Be Making Love. It keeps the formula of their best 80’s songwriting alive into the 90’s but the band were losing popularity then so it isn’t as well known as it should be
Back when MTV was new and actually played music Huey Lewis and the News just released SPORTS. They made videos for just about every song and they all got played a LOT on MTV so the popularity of both grew together.
Supposedly the band did *not* like this video, and after this point they insisted on taking creative control of their videos away from the record company. Seemed to work out OK for them!
Y'all are one of the only reaction channels that actually react the Huey Lewis and the News so I thank y'all for that. They are one of my favorite bands from the 80's. Huey is easily one of my favorite voices
Fun fact: during that break, each time a band member comes into frame, their instrument is highlighted in the song! Guitar, sax, drums, keyboard, and bass.
J & Amber, you will LOVE their "Heart And Soul", "If This Is It" and "Working For A Living" !!! I used to play their first album cuts on the radio station!
My first concert was in the early 80s when I saw Heart on their "Private Auditions" tour. Huey Lewis and the News opened for them. Nobody knew who they were and at first the crowd even booed them. Then their guitar player started shredding and the horns started wailing. By the time their set ended, the crowd gave them a standing ovation. The rest for Huey Lewis and the News was rock history. There are a slew of hits from this group. I would take a listen to "Heart of Rock N Roll" too.
@ NavyVet First & foremost I thank you for your service. God Bless. Now to the music I too saw both Huey & Heart but not on the same ticket. But sweet Jesus Heart blew me away!!!! Those ladies were amazing!!! Cheers to keeping rock alive 🎼🎸🥁🎹🎤🎼
I happened to see a music video that Huey Lewis and The News put out from their first album in 1980. I was impressed and thought they were so, so close to having a great formula figured out. I thought I'd better keep an eye on them. Then their second album came out and everybody knew who they were. I'm not very good about spotting future stars but I nailed it that time.
I saw the group in 1987. One of the songs they did (I can’t remember which, sadly) was sung completely a cappella, with the exception of a drum machine, and the harmonies were as tight as they could be. I was very impressed.
I was going to say the same thing about seeing them singing a cappella in concert. I saw them more than once and one concert they had the Tower of Power brass section with them.
Offhand, I can think of two a capella tracks from Huey Lewis and the News albums: Naturally and It's Alright. Wondering if it might've been one of those?
Loved these gentlemen singing the National Anthem... beautiful Check out I WANT A NEW DRUG next... lotsa good quality music from Huey Lewis and The News.
Oh yes! The first hit from them, and probably still my favorite. Was lucky to see them live early on, and meet them backstage as well -- Huey and the boys are awesome.
Huey and the boys were big fans of 50s and 60s music which is where a lot of their harmonies come from. The even did a whole album of nothing but covers of 50s and 60s songs.
I gave Chris (the guitar player) their “Picture This” album on vinyl to autograph. He laughed and said “Wow, we don’t even own copies of this anymore! “ Didn’t think he was going to give it back! Lol. The whole band was so sweet and cool.
You have got to listen to " It's Alright" or "Bad Is Bad" by Huey. The harmonies are off the hook. "It's Alright," has a 60's street corner vibe and is sung acapella. "Bad Is Bad," has a bluesy jazz vibe, but the vocals are tight, and the music is almost secondary. They really sound great.
Glad you did this one - it was actually their first hit single, and it showcases their more laid-back side. They were definitely one of the biggest groups of the 80s! If you want something more up tempo for your next one, you can do "Workin' For a Livin'", "Heart and Soul", "Hip to be Square" or "I Want a New Drug". If you want to stay in the laid-back lane, you can do "If This Is It" or "Stuck With You".
J & Amber, the REASON music from the 60's 70's and 80's sounds so good is because these were artists that had to compete for a record contract based upon their voices, artistry, musical talent and a mass appeal. The record companies controlled the industry and they selected artists and groups based upon TALENT. There WERE some groups that were just pushed out there because of some gimmick, but the vast majority of the music was being made by the cream of the crop. Now days, ANYONE can release music on the web and it shows in the multitude of so-so music and talent.
This is my favorite song by them. All Huey Lewis And The News videos were so much fun. The tunes without the videos is like peanut butter without jelly....you just know something is missing. ;)
I was so head over heels for this band back in the day. Saw them in concert twice and had the biggest crush on Huey, what a hottie! Anyway SO many great songs from them, you guys gotta check out Workin for a Living (banger), If This Is It, Walking on a Thin Line and my all time fav Heart and Soul.
Huey Lewis and the News are one of the most under appreciated & disrespected bands of all time. The fact that they’re not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yet is a disgrace. I know there are other musicians that deserve it more and likewise haven’t been inducted either, but considering some of the musicians that are in there now, Huey Lewis and the News deserve to be in there as well.
Great group from the 80's-90's. They had a lot of great hits such as "Do You Believe In Love", "Workin' For A Livin'", "Heart & Soul", "The Power Of Love", "I Want A New Drug," "The Heart Of Rock & Roll," "If This Is It", "Stuck With You", "Jacob's Ladder," "Hip to Be Square" etc.
Love Huey Lewis what an amazing Singer their Most poplar signature hit We all know is "Power of Love" From Back to the Future which earned them their First U.S. Billboard 100 #1 thats the Song that Made them who they are They then went on to make other Smash hits like Stuck With you and more 👌👌
Love me some Huey! I've seen them in concert 5x. Never disappointed! They have some great acapella songs. Since you love those harmonies. They also used to sing the National Anthem for the 49ers quite often. I was there once and they do an amazing job!!
Love IT! Realize you younger folk, WE had BOTH Huey Lewis AND Hall and Oates at the SAME time! H&O more cutting edge, and Huey Harmony, often with a more basic Love & Fun approach to their songs! Couldn't beat it THEN, and can't beat it NOW, so thanks for the selection! :) And I'm sure everyone saw you swoon, Amber, when the SAX fired up! :) GUYS, once in a while, even though your channel is a 'New Reaction' one, you can slip in something you liked back in the day too. At least that's my opinion. :)
I love Huey Lewis and the News!! Other real good, catchy songs are "Heart and Soul", " Stuck with You", "Working for a Livin", "I Want a new Drug", "Doing it all for my Baby", "If This is It", "Back in Time", "Hip to be Square"!!
The news is your next reaction to Huey Lewis and the news should be Bad is Bad. I agree with you Jay. This song does make you smile from beginning to end! Big hugs and love to all of the Robsquad family! 🤗
Their song "Naturally" and their performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" are some of their best harmonies. So many great hits from them for you to catch up on.
Huey Lewis and the News were my musical nemesis in the 80s... They were so popular, and I couldn't figure out why. Then I saw a live video of them, and oh my god they were so awesomely good live. On the radio, hit after hit after hit. Who knew that it was all tongue-in-cheek?
I bought their album Sports when I was 13. Songs hit different when you’re 52. “Walking on a Thin Line” in particular. 10 years in the Army will do that.
Great harmonies, and love the reaction. Another song from them that has great harmonies is "If This Is It", it would be great if you reacted to that one too.
I love that you’re listening to pre-Sports songs. 😊👍🏼 Their two earliest albums were like that. They are like one of those early doo-wop groups you’d hear on the corner, singing for anybody that passed by back in those days. After Sports, they got a bit more slick. They really are just a group of fun guys Edit: If you’re looking for something a little darker, deeper by them, react to “The Only One”. It’s a look at how we see our childhood heroes when they’re at the top….and when they fall from that perch.
Was a teenager throughout the 80's such a different world than today. Society was the polar opposite of today. Love your reactions and the genuine smiles say it all. These are my generations oldies, love to see younger people appreciate the older stuff. 55 now where does the time go 😮. Peace to you both......
I still say " I Want A New Drug" and "Bad Is Bad" and "Stuck With You" are the top 3 singles by these guys. Of course this is opinion. I have no idea the sales for all their many hit singles
I love this song and Huey Lewis and the News! I forget if you’ve done “Power of Love” yet or nor but that’s one of their most famous from their Back to the Future album. A couple of my favorites I love are “If This is It” and “Stuck With You”….gotta do them! Thanks for the reaction!
Wow that takes me back I was 19 back in 82 when the song came out can't believe it's been 40 years but the song Still sounds as fresh as it did all those years ago
This was our very first exposure to a great band!!! I was in the 4th grade. They copied a vocal idea from ELO's "Sweet Talkin' Woman," but no one really cared. The song is so amazing!
Haha !!! ALL of their videos are fun. So were their concerts! They were so awesome. Their a capella was not famous, but they put some out there. Soooooooooo good !!!!!!!
It wouldnt had been the 80s without Huey Lewis and The News. They have tons of good songs
Loved their song "Sometimes Bad Is Bad".
Huey Lewis isn't a bad actor either
These guys were a hit factory. Next stops: "If This is It," "I Want a New Drug," "Stuck with You."
All great songs classics
Don't forget about "The Power of Love" that's in "Back To The Future", along with Huey Lewis.
@@RayfordRaySiegel They did that song. If I was to pick any song to sum up the 80s that would be it.
Love Hip To Be Square as well.
@@reesebn38,
Oh, yeah. I remember, now.
I absolutely love Huey Lewis. They have so many fantastic songs. ✌️
The power of love is a pretty good one!
Absolutely!
To describe this in one word; Perfect!
Perfect vocals, perfect instrumentals, perfect video. Huey Lewis and the News were huge hit makers in the 80's, with their clean, joyful, harmonious sound.

This song is pop perfection, Huey Lewis & The News best song and in my humble opinion one of the best songs of all time. Love this song my favourite from the group, it just makes you feel so good when you hear this track.
Love this comment. Everything they were brilliant at is in this song, melodies, harmonies, great playing, great song structure.
Huey Lewis and the News ruled the 80's. One of my sll time favorites.
And Eddie Money
if ya didn't have SPORTS album or cassette..in the 80's...you weren't in the 80's..lol
For a couple of years in the 80s Lewis and the News dominated the air waves. Their albums went platinum as fast as they came out.
So many car trips to the beach with the windows down and this song blasting.
You still need to hit "Hip to be Square." It's an oldie but goodie from Huey Lewis and the News
Love that song!!
Yes! I have always loved Huey Lewis and The News! Theirs is a great rabbit hole to go down. If This Is It, Stuck With You, Heart of Rock And Roll, Doing It All For My Baby and many more!!
They covered Heart of Rock And Roll.
I’d forgotten about Doing It All For My Baby, what a great song! I always hold a light for a song from their 1991 album Hard At Play called We Should Be Making Love. Love Huey Lewis..."Perfect World" and "I Want A New Drug" are other hits that were 80 classics.
And of course Heart of Rock and Roll.
And Heart and Soul

I didn't know anyone in the 80s who didn't own a copy of Sports.
Huey Lewis and the News are so much fun!!
"Walking On A Thin Line"
"Heart and Soul"
"I Want A New Drug"
"Jacob's Ladder"
"It Hit Me Like A Hammer"
Jacob's Ladder - good call. I forget about that one.
Walking on a thin line is a really good song that doesn't get mentioned a whole lot.
And he don't know.
Walking on a Thin Line, for what it means. My father and uncle served in Vietnam came back. They were disrespected.
Those are some jams
Y'all are one of the only reaction channels that actually react the Huey Lewis and the News so I thank y'all for that. They are one of my favorite bands from the 80's. Huey is easily one of my favorite voices
Agreed!!

J & Amber, you will LOVE their "Heart And Soul", "If This Is It" and "Working For A Living" !!! I used to play their first album cuts on the radio station!
This kind of song exemplifies the 80's for me. For me it was the positive, hopeful decade, and much of the music was too.
My first concert was in the early 80s when I saw Heart on their "Private Auditions" tour. Huey Lewis and the News opened for them. Nobody knew who they were and at first the crowd even booed them. They've already reacted to the Heart of Rock and Roll. A great song nonetheless.
@spydude38 one of the first concerts I saw where I danced from beginning to end.Huey is a amazing front man and funny too.
Been so long since y'all reacted to them that you didn't recognize Huey in y'all's second time around with We Are the World reaction, lol
Huey Lewis is awesome!!!
I saw the group in 1987. One of the songs they did (I can’t remember which, sadly) was sung completely a cappella, with the exception of a drum machine, and the harmonies were as tight as they could be. I was very impressed.
It's Alright is that songs name. I agree with you and hope Amber and J will follow our advice and try that track.

Offhand, I can think of two a capella tracks from Huey Lewis and the News albums: Naturally and It's Alright. Wondering if it might've been one of those?
Actually, It's Alright was a much later song (2006), but Naturally was off their 1986 album Fore! so my money's on that one.
The song with the drum machine is called Bad is Bad😉
Loved these gentlemen singing the National Anthem... beautiful
Check out I WANT A NEW DRUG next... lotsa good quality music from Huey Lewis and The News.
Saw them as the warm-up band for Pat Benatar in the late 70's!
Oh yes! The first hit from them, and probably still my favorite. Was lucky to see them live early on, and meet them backstage as well -- Huey and the boys are awesome.
Funny thing is that I heard the retro American Top 40 with Casey Kasem yesterday morning from April of 82 and this was in the top 5 today in 82
Not only a great, great band...their videos were hilarious for the early days of MTV. :) Could tell they didn't take themselves too seriously!
Pop music from each decade is just pure fun. Never need to apologize for loving pop music.
One of my favorite Huey Luis songs
Reminds me of my dad

I vote for “This Is It”
I’m Just a young mexican stoner tryna make it out the hood👀it’s all negativity & sliding on opps..
You'll love Hip To Be Square, makes you want to dance, and has more sax in that one!
Huey Lewis "Heart and Soul".
Wonderful band I remember them when I was a child.
It’s alright. Acapella. Awesome harmonies
My faves are " Heart and Soul" and "Jacobs Ladder" I love them. They are a good vibe band.
Great band loved them growing up.
Huey Lewis is one of my favorite bands outside of ACDC you guy's should check out "I want a new drug "
The entire "Sports" album is an 80s classic.👍👍😄😄😄😄😄
You can see why we all loved Huey Lewis and the News. Really fun guys with great uplifting tunes. Thanks Jordan and Amber, see you soon.
Huey Lewis and the news are great!!!

LOL how does she just lay there without cracking up I'd be dying laughing
A great song. Glad you picked it. Another great song by Huey is "If This Is It" 👌 👏
Huey Lewis & The News, Are The Best 💯 Period
Their best for me was ‘I want a new drug’. But all their 80s hits were fun! Good to see u enjoy!
This is my favorite song by them. All Huey Lewis And The News videos were so much fun. The tunes without the videos is like peanut butter without jelly....you just know something is missing. ;)
This is, by far, my favorite Huey Lewis and The News song.
So glad you got to Huey Lewis and the News and my favourite song of theirs!
Finally! 😱😱😱
Love it!
"HEART AND SOUL" IF you haven't
❤ you guys!
Their 1st album was a banger, start to finish. I still have a copy of it on vinyl. Keep up the great work.
got it on vinyl also. such a great band!
Same!
Might even still have the cassette I made from the vinyl for the car.
You couldn't turn on a radio in 83 or 84 without hearing them. Huge song.
80s music cant be beat for a good upbeat feel good time...so many great hits

You will love their song Naturally. It’s a bit of a throwback to Doo-Wop.
Yes, Huey Lewis...Great, Great, Great, group...Big time 80's!!!
This was their first hit. I remember when Mtv debuted this song.
There is a great song from the movie "Duets" featuring Heuy Lewis and actress/ singer Gwenth Paltrow. The song is a cover of the song "Cruisin"
They have so many great songs. The message is always great.
Love song by Huey and gang. Most underrated song in their resume.
Huey Lewis and the News are great, super 80's rock n roll...easy on the ears and good for feet tap'n.
Love me some Huey! I've seen them in concert 5x. Never disappointed! They have some great acapella songs. Since you love those harmonies. They also used to sing the National Anthem for the 49ers quite often. I was there once and they do an amazing job!!

This is one of those songs you don't think about for years but when you hear it again you remember how much you loved it.
The 80s would have been really missing a lot without Huey Lewis and the News.
This is one of my favorite songs by them
Many many more hits to go for this band. They were solid throughout the 80s.
I have seen countless top bands from the 80s/90s, in their primes, and Huey Lewis & The News was the best live band I have ever seen.
I love Huey Lewis and the News!! Other real good, catchy songs are "Heart and Soul", " Stuck with You", "Working for a Livin", "I Want a new Drug", "Doing it all for my Baby", "If This is It", "Back in Time", "Hip to be Square"!!
Huey Lewis and the News were one of the greatest band in the '80's.One of the best voices in rock.
80s hit machine. Check out: If This Is It, I Know What I Like, The Power of Love, Back in Time, Hip to be Square, Jacob's Ladder - all stellar tunes.
The news is your next reaction to Huey Lewis and the news should be Bad is Bad. I agree with you Jay. This song does make you smile from beginning to end! Big hugs and love to all of the Robsquad family! 🤗

They were playing wineries here in Cali for years till Huey's hearing got all f'd up. Best part of Back to the future is their soundtrack! Classic
"Workin' for a Livin'" is another pre-Sports Huey Lewis tune with lots of infectious energy. Worth checking out if you loved this one.
He had so many great hits.
Great harmonies, and love the reaction. Another song from them that has great harmonies is "If This Is It", it would be great if you reacted to that one too.
It's nice to see younger generations appreciate music like these
I love that you’re listening to pre-Sports songs. 😊👍🏼

Nearly 40 years later and I remember every single lyric. What a great memory. Great song.
Written by Mutt Lange, who is better known as a producer, working with artists like Def Leppard and AC/DC.
The song was a US Top 10 hit in 1982.
I think the song was offered to AC/DC before the News got it
@@mikegarcia6935 Wow, I can't even imagine AC/DC doing this song! LOL!
He was also married to Shania Twain and produced most of her albums. A pop genius, not such a great husband.
You can tell Mutt assembled the harmonies, cause its similar to Def Leppards Photograph!
#MikeGarcia Originally recorded by British band Supercharge
Just a fun song! Great guitar, harmonies, sax...
They sound just as good in concert... amazing group
Too many people dis Huey Lewis & The News. IMHO they’re a great band.

Huey Lewis singing with Gwyneth Paltrow ..singing "Crusin"..
Yes..Gwyneth Paltrow can sing...
one of the quite underrated bands in the 80s.....such a gem
