I’m 26, been a fan since I was 14. I’ve come across other millennials and younger who are fans as well. What stood out to me is the structural innovation in The Beatles’ music. Each song has a unique identity. It wasn’t cut and paste the way modern music is now. The Beatles’ psychedelic era and experimentation was also very bold, and led me to early Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett, and other artists of the era.
The song is perfect. It cannot be improved. Few of us have any legacy apart from our (wonderful) children but I cannot imagine a time when people are not delighted by this song.

Perhaps the most beautiful song ever. There are definitely more complex instrumentals, more technical guitar playing, more impressive vocals, but there isn't a single song that is more beautiful than this one. The amount of happiness that you get from listening to this song is insane. It's more addictive than any drug known to man. There will never be another band like the Beatles, ever!!!
I consider myself quite mellow and somber, and I'm generally repelled by a lot of super 'positive' and 'feel good' music. However this song literally just makes you feel good. My fondest memory of This masterpiece was in 1979 on a tour bus traveling through Spain's gorgeous countryside! I was 15 years old on a Spanish class trip for 2 weeks which included visits to Casablanca and Tangiers Morocco. Whenever I hear this, it takes me right back to Spain.❤ The song filled me with a joy I hadn't felt since my mom passed away the previous year.
@@zdvxr "Norwegian Wood" is credited to Lennon/McCartney, not George. "Something" is mawkishly sentimental and no great shakes melodically. George has much better Beatles songs than that: "Here Comes the Sun", "I Want to Tell You", "I Need You", "If I needed Someone", "Long, Long, Long", or "Taxman". He also has several great tunes from his solo career.
I got into The Beatles because of my dad. I didn’t grow up listening to tracks my dad put on around the house, he wasn’t the type. Rather, I helped my dad re-discover them by downloading their songs on his iPod so he could play them while driving. It was this exchange-young technology meeting old music-that managed to bring us closer to The Beatles and to each other. My dad passed last year but during his wake I made sure to play a lot of Beatles and Bob Marley-only happier tracks, including this one. When I listen to this now, I feel a bit sad but in a warm way. It makes me miss him but also makes me hope that wherever he is, he can hear this song and know that everyone is alright.
Respect man...here in the Uk i witnessed a beautiful sunrise on the M1 motorway this morning and a glorious sunset when i got home and walked my Husky...
Here in Durban, South Africa i live along the coast. When the sun rises its magic and when it sets thats the Africa sun everyone talks about. I respect your work you must see so much.....Go Usa an Uk.
I'm 60 years old and a lover of most all genres. The Beatles continues to reign as the best band across the board. Such a profound impact, for good reason.
I first heard this song as a little boy during the 70s when I was cooped up in the house. I wanted to go out and play, but it was raining. The rain stopped; the sun came out and this song was playing on the radio. Still my favorite song after 45 years.
Giles Martin's remix really allows the song to fully blossom. In particular, George's vocal is rightfully in the center, and the stereo spread on the background vocals is glorious.
@@fretbuzz59 Unless done with intent it would be hard to get a bad mix of this song. Remember when this song was first released people were listening to it on a single small crappy dashboard speaker in a car via AM mono... and were still blown away. That said, I had commented some time ago that the production on this version of the song is the best I ever heard. Not sure of why, but my ear doesn't lie.
By Abbey Road I was more then convinced George had reached or dare I say possibly exceeded Lennon/McCartney quality... not quantity, but at least subjectively quality.
One of the things that makes the Beatles a cut above the rest is that on their best work (quite a bit of it!) every part is great. No filler or padding out the sound for the sake of it.
My daddy died August 13, 2020. Out of his three kids, I am the youngest at 40. I would sit in his room and he would play The Beatles on records. He had every single album and all their books, etc. He taught me about The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and all the other greats before my time and all from a record player in his bedroom. Thank you, Daddy. :)
My grandmother used to sing this to me whenever I was down and felt alone as a child. It makes cry everytime I hear it. This really was life changing for me. Whenever I go to the cemetery to visit her, I sing it right back. Miss you Granny*
Hay una hermosa esperanza que muy pronto se hará realidad: Podrás ver nuevamente a tu abuelita y recibirla con un abrazo, gritos y lágrimas de alegría. Es una promesa de Dios. (Juan 5:28, 29)
My grandmother died and this was one of her favorite songs. When I hear it makes me think of her all the time. She was the sun; she made everyone’s life better and she was just a wonderful person.
Aven well It wasn’t SUPPOSED to be depressing. What I meant was it could’ve been, but basically George wrote this song right after his mom was diagnosed with cancer and the big freeze in the uk. I’m sorry for being a bit misleading
It is much too easy to say it is a song of hope. While general feeling of hope is a byproduct as it goes deeper as George was very spiritual. I hear the song and it is more about acceptance. Some religions like Hare Krishna think we should only 'hope' to be with god not to desire material things. Everything thing else will fall into place. Acceptance of our place and things that come based on our good actions and that everything will be alright.
I think this is one of the best songs in this world. I’ve always thought John was the heart of the Beatles. Paul was the brain. George was the spirit. And Ringo was the muscle that made the songs move. 4 powerful components of one incredible band.
My grandmother and grandfather passed away a few years ago. I was very deep in my depression, I took medication and cried all the time. When The Beatles gave us this beautiful video, I felt a warmth in my heart. And I felt at home again, with them singing this song in the mornings. Thank you for this beautiful memory of my grandparents. Wherever you are, I hope you continue to embrace each other, feeling your love for each other and the love we give you on this plane in your memory. RIP Eugenia Hernández & José Salazar 💖
It's incredible to think that the "Quiet Beatle" ended up writing not only The Beatles' most popular song, but one of the greatest songs to ever exist in this world.
I'm pushing 70 and have been listening to the Beatles since Love Me Do and yet they never bore me, I still get those goose pimples every time I hear their music.
I tear up when I listen to their beautiful creations. The songs remind me of when I was a young teen and I had my whole life ahead of me. I will always love the Beatles!
THIS is George's best song . . . and by a long shot. His output was always low. In Geoff Emerick's (Chief engineer from Revolver to Abbey Road) memoir, he says something like that. John and Paul had material to put out (if they wanted so) solo albums --full of hits, every 4 months or so! I lived through that period and I remember the hits arrived like a landslide. The radio was an "insufficient" means to play properly the amount of great tunes they released at times almost every week! "Let it be" (the album) shows it quite well. George's contribution seems "forced" and poor. While he played simple, basic blues-based tunes (For you Blue, I me Mine) Paul had ready: Junk, Tomorrow, Goodbye, etc. and a host of hit songs that he would release in his solo albums in the following year. And to top it off, he "threw in" for that album: Let it be, The Long and Winding Road, Two of us, I've got a Feeling, and Get Back. Small fries!
@@trane5270 I agree. Paul is a pop songwriter. George was magical. John's songs speak to me. Even though I'm female, much of John's writing has a big impact on me. He's my favorite.
Granted very few songs can, some just do. That is your entire being telling you this is something special and extraordinary and touching.. and timeless. It's a connection on another level. On occasion certain songs will cause me to tear up. Quite a few of those are Beatles songs. The song is simply attacking me on an emotional level.
When Paul said the Stones are an R&B cover band, even Mick and Keith had to kind of bite their tongues. They know, and so did The Beach Boys who went on the record and said Rubber Soul was genius that the conversation begins and ends with The Beatles, and I say that as someone who was born after they broke up.
NO artist in history has captured the sun coming out so beautifully. It is exquisite. Give the moment to Picasso, da Vinci or Monet and they couldn’t paint the moment at 2:05

This has been remixed so it is sounding fresher. The strings came through which iI had never heard properly before. But you're right - an evergreen piece of music.
Even the other Beatles said this was one of their best songs. At least from that album. Regardless.,. no small feat. It was too easy for both Ringo and George Harrison to get overshadowed by the Lennon/McCartney machine but they both managed to shine in their own right and that is a huge part of the magic that is/was The Beatles.

I was 15 years old on a Spanish class trip for 2 weeks which included visits to Casablanca and Tangiers Morocco. Whenever I hear this, it takes me right back to Spain.❤ The song filled me with a joy I hadn't felt since my mom passed away the previous year.
George’s songwriting is so underrated. The man needs more credit
It's not. It's just that he didn't write as many and as many great songs as Paul and John. He was a late bloomer.
Here comes the sun, Something, While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Norwegian Woods, etc. such beautiful songs he made awesome
@@deanronson6331 he was shy at first
@@zdvxr "Norwegian Wood" is credited to Lennon/McCartney, not George.
@@deanronson6331 I guess that's why Sinatra called Something the best love song ever. You absolute muppet.
When my Pop passed, I was holding his hand and this song was playing. He always loved it.

The same happened with me
I’m sorry to hear that.
Awe..it's a great song ❤

I first heard this song as a little boy during the 70s when I was cooped up in the house. I wanted to go out and play, but it was raining. The rain stopped; the sun came out and this song was playing on the radio. Still my favorite song after 45 years.
great memory Angelo ...thanks for sharing ...
This song still sounds fresh 54 years after it was recorded. Brilliant.
I say that to myself every time I hear it... Which I have been for quite some time.

Ringo deserves extra credit for making the drums sing along to the song.
this mix really does great justice putting drums forward
He's already Ringo. How much more credit could he get..
I think George needs more credit
Agreed, but how about the bass line and background vocals? The perfect song on all levels
One of the things that makes the Beatles a cut above the rest is that on their best work (quite a bit of it!) every part is great. No filler or padding out the sound for the sake of it.
I love how the creators of this video flashed a clip of George at the very end. It's adorable. 🥺💛

Until it gets to hot, and then you start singing Christmas songs.
This makes me think about Hiroshima
@@ricric9521 the holy spirit is with us right this second
I think this is one of the best songs in this world. I’ve always thought John was the heart of the Beatles. Paul was the brain. George was the spirit. And Ringo was the muscle that made the songs move. 4 powerful components of one incredible band.

I tear up when I listen to their beautiful creations. The songs remind me of when I was a young teen and I had my whole life ahead of me. I will always love the Beatles!
I´m 80! Ditto

It's hard not to get emotional when this wonderful song is playing. The Beatles will never be bettered or or equalled.
What about abba or queen but I do agree it is an amazing song
Beach boys are better
I guess
When Paul said the Stones are an R&B cover band, even Mick and Keith had to kind of bite their tongues. They know, and so did The Beach Boys who went on the record and said Rubber Soul was genius that the conversation begins and ends with The Beatles, and I say that as someone who was born after they broke up.
