My Gran said it was downright awkward, for example, to watch her guest-star on TV shows, being so obviously ill, in the late ‘60s. She said people of her generation found it tough to grasp how someone who had been so lovely, so successful, with so much talent, could just implode in front of everyone’s eyes. She made people feel ill-at-ease, I gather. But they made it clear that, in her prime, she was adored by all: “Everyone loved Judy. What kind of person *couldn’t* love that beautiful, gifted girl?”
If you want to see the soon to be dead Judy watch the famous 1960 movie "Judgement at Nuremberg ", not the later mini series with Alex " I didn't shoot anyone " Baldwin. The latter is a pathetically childish production.
Absolutely one of the best musical sequences ever put on film. Everyone involved was at the top of their games - the Gershwins, Garland, Rooney and Taurog.

I have this movie in a Mickey and Judy 4 pack. I'm within one Andy Hardy movie of having all 7 Mickey and Judy movies. I love Judy Garland so much I rewatched The Pirate last night, and I have introduced a friend to her movies recently. He's in his late 40s, close to 50, but he didn't know about all the great stars of the past. He never even watched a John Wayne movie until he met me. I'm introducing him to all the greats.
Love this song and Girl Crazy I was 27 when I first saw this movie in 1983 ! Its a favorite movie of mine but my all time favorite was A Star Is Born and The Wizard of Oz and Meet Me IN St LOuis !
