Hi, this is our kid’s 2nd season snowboarding. He us 5 and he could do toe side well but not heel side. We tried your drill and after just few practice, he was able to connect the turns! Thank you for this tutorial, will share with friends.

That is awesome! Always love to hear on young shredders. Surprised he got the toe turns first- those are always harder and especially tricky for kids but great he got the turns linked. So now you just ride along and enjoy watching the progress… soon you won’t be able to catch up 🤣

Hey! Nice and helpful Video. Thanks fot that! What size is your daughter and what size is her board?

Cool! Happy you found it helpful. When my daughter started she was just under 4 (4.5) at the time of this video- size 11 boots and 90 cm snowboard. We’re just upgrading soon to a longer board. Better to not give them a board too long which will make it more difficult to turn. Hope that helps!

@@ALLaBOARDvideos That helped a lot. Thank you very much. My son has just the same stats. So we will go with a 90cm board as well. Cheers!

@@KaiNeumann Yep! I see so many people that want their kids to progress and keep on getting them new, bigger boards. but in fact, kids will do better on smaller boards. "growing into it" is not a great thing in boards. especially not in the beginning as their muscles are still developing, they don't quite have the weight for that bigger board. Have fun! and let me know if you have any questions along the way.

how come we make them use both legs when we guide them? is it better than guiding them to turn to stay on a dominant leg?

I’m not sure I’m clear on the question, if you don’t mind emplaning.
Do you mean why we do side to side (falling leaf) in heel and toe edges? Once we start J turns I recommend picking regular or goofy- if they show a tendency by then either on the snowboard or scooter and such. So when we start turning they will normally have already the position and same front food forward.
      did I completely misunderstand?

Hi, so after having your kid get used to the feeling of gliding on a snowboard, for example with the riglet, the next step is to get them to go down a slope, either toe-side or heel-side? I was wondering if they would be afraid of 'the hill'... since the gliding was on a bunny hill or flat part of the slope. I am thinking to just walk up a small slope and then have him come down as shown in this video, is that ok? it's because I know that the first ski--lift on the slope where we will start is an 'anker'-lift. I think it would be a bit too soon to try and get him up that ski-lift. Although... I do think there is also a conveyer-belt where they can simply stand on the belt and move up a small hill. I will check that again.

Ok- so you pulled him with the riglet. Then you move to very short sections of bunny hill. Check out Step 1 video. Totally- a little slope is ok - that could be a step that you’ll spend a day doing or 20 min. Totally depends on you and your kid.
You let go and let him ride down and catch him. Joke around and Make it fun- that’s the key.
And then yes. Start doing basically falling leaf side to side on either edges as shown in Step 2. Make you’re YOU are facing up hill. Bunny hills will not be scary and when you move side to side on either edge you can go fairly slow. Some sections might even be too slow and you’ll see that a little bit of speed is your friend.
Belt would be your best bet in this case 100%
