Based on the 5 videos I've seen so far, it looks as if someone from RTE just rounded up random people on the street and said "you have an hour to come up with a business idea and go on tv and pitch it".
I mean I've painted before, and his solution does make sense...but before I paid 7 euros for this shit I'd go grab a plastic bag from my storage of plastic bags. Like its a good idea, but its not a business. THe only way I could see this working is if a paint maker was like "hey thats a good idea we'll refine it a bit, and sell it as a side item for $1 or $2 for extra revenue.
Steve from the Australian version would have said "no, no, no, Im asking where you woke up this morning". A more fitting response would be, la la land, if he thinks this will sell
You can get 5 plastic liner trays for €3. Those are thicker plastic and won't stick to the roller as much as this thin plastic. And you can reuse them. Do they not have this in Ireland?
Oh. I invented a bag for my cat liter to. You just stick a bin liner in the cat liter put the sand on top wait for the cat to poop and then you simply remove the bag and dispose off. How is this any different than a bin liner with rubber band ? Ridonkeylous and has no absolute value in it ! Even a sealable sandwich bag can do that.
Was confused for a moment why everyone had been replaced with 4 Duncan’s and an android with glasses. Always tricky when they use the same series name and just put the name of a different country behind it
The price of the bag is as much as a disposable paint tray.... You can get 20 cat-tray liners for the same price so I think he just didn't drill down & find a good supplier.
105K for a bunch of shower caps and other strange plastic bags. Almost no production cost and if you take a swim, you can find them in the sea everywhere, especially in the Bermuda Triangle.
His dad invented nothing. Every painter knows and uses bags for rollers. The "tray liner" just wont work. Try rolling a roller with paint on a flimsy plastic bag and see what happens. Ok I just realized this is obviously a parody.
A decent sized ziplock bag will work for a paint roller or brush & can be washed & reused. & food platter coverings look exactly the same as his tray covers & I'm pretty sure are a lot cheaper.
Had his Dad have brought this idea to market when he thought about it, it would have been a good idea indeed... This is a shower cap and shower bag; plastic!!!!! Bless him at least he has tried... and that evaluation or request he is clearly making up for lost time from when his Dad had come up with the idea :o)
He really reminds me of the old time vacuum cleaner/encyclopedia door-to-door salesman when he is trying to shove this 'new' idea on to people. Duh, we either line tray with cling wrap, plastic bag, or clean it with soap/paint thinner or varsol right away. What I have done for years is store the roller or paint brush in a plastic bag and put in the freezer overnight and dispose of the bag over the tray. Roller or brush that is wrapped snugly actually does not freeze and is fine to use the next day.
I'm decorating right now, I'm chucking everything in plastic bags as it is. So a good idea, but would I spend 5 pounds for that when black bags for under a pound. I came up with this idea before seeing this. But I could see it for professionals
Why do I imagine the bag sticking to the roller and sliding around like crazy, creating an even bigger problem? There’s a reason why tray liners are rigid. Or, you could just wash it...

That's what I was thinking. If I was doing a small DIY painting project I would just buy disposable trays, or just dip it in the can and not use a tray at all

This isn't a new idea. When painting, we have put a bag on the paint tray. The only issue is, sometimes it smears the paint around a bit and it's harder to roll onto the roller. Also, the roller tends to pull the bag with it, so over time it's counter productive. The only thing he's done, is put an elastic ring around the bag so it hugs the tray a little. It's just not worth 5 bucks extra when you have bags I'll wager, in a bunch, somewhere in your home from shopping.
