Honestly, I'm surprised you dont use Brick Commander as a reference, that dude made most of the Battlemechs back in the day.
Once you start getting into those late CI designs and more you can see the IS was willing to throw anything against the wall.
In this case, it kinda works.

After having a wonderful game with it, I nominate the Lancelot for a "Why do we Love ...". It is pretty sturdy and nimble for a mech of it's size despite the XL engine. It also has a couple interesting variants among the design.

The B1 confuses me. Counter insurgency, but it's armed to fight mechs and AFVs which really aren't something true insurgents would be able to support. After an invasion you might have a few mechs that go guerilla and maybe it's my OCD, but only until something breaks. But the B3 means someone learned the lesson, if you want to win against insurgents, you liquif- I mean liquidate them. And the squirt gun because the difference between anti-riot and COIN is that the peasants have gone from revolting to rebelling. And I just sounded like a Capellan... dang it...
I can understand forgetting about this mech as many people don't play with rules involving the Active Probe (Beagle, Clan, or Bloodhound), especially at conventions.
I have to say I am surprised at your restraint in not using a Plasma Cannon in place of the ATM-3s for anti-insurgency. Kudos on you for exercising self control.

Wait,does spaying a mech with water help with cooling? If so might be nice to stick next to long range mechs that run very very hot. Also now I'm wondering if there is a firefighting industrial mech design, water cannon and mounted foam launcher with maybe claws ment for debris removal as hands?
As a Mech designed for Counter Insurgency (Coin), this thing screams for a Machine Gun array. Drop a couple of heat sinks(or a small laser), and it's an easy upgrade to make it better for its intended use.
Replace the flamers on the B3 with machine guns and it can act as riot control. Because you definitely loaded the rubber bullets and put water in the fluid tank, right?
With 4 flamers, plus 2 tons of napalm (that is 2,350 liters or 621 gallons) of flaming death. Did someone mention war crimes? This thing is an arsonists dream, and a city protection force's / fire brigade's worst nightmare.
I honestly never used the fluid guns before, much less this mech. But this gives me a reason to look into both. Personally I think "Fire Bug" would be a more appropriate name for this build of this mech.
I like the MF variant, though I think I would find better use for the tonnage dedicated to the emotional support lasers, and I would combine the active probe and ECM into a single watchdog unit. Perhaps install a laser AMS or some such nonsense. And a partial wing is screaming at me as well.
Or you could control the spread with two tons of fire fighting foam.
Kill the meat, save the metal after all. Or the luxury cottages.
If you don’t want to bother with Search and Rescue, you could use Water Ammo to hose down ejected pilots and vehicle crews: it adds -2 to the Wounded Check, so they’re more likely to survive.

This is crazy I just saw this model for the first time this weekend and realized how goofy it looks off the page.
I'd never heard of this one before. I like it, I'm a FWL fan and this one somehow slipped through the cracks, it is sort of like an actually good Cicada. Even visually it is pretty neat, sort of looks like a Marauder-style chassis on humanoid legs.
Was expecting a plasma cannon in that side pod, but this is still good.
What a great hidden gem, not sure who this mysterious member was but they have good taste in mech's.
This really does seem to be a pretty solid mech, I could see it operating as a recon and infantry support unit... but *man* is that a design only a mother could love. It practically looks like a dog doing a handstand
ngl, i want the b3 now entirely because you mentioned putting non weaponized fluids in there. can you imagine it at a party, with booze in the tank instead of corrosive liquids?

A sensible design properly tailored to its intended role. Too bad it lacks jumpjets; would definitely aid in its pursuit missions over rough terrain or in cramped urban settings.

Have a B2-HND in a Campaign i play and it performs quite well. Good Damage, sufficient Armor ( has not been breached yet) and enough speed to be an unappetizing Target. Reliably dashes any Hope our Gamemaster has of bringing his C3-equipped wobbies to bear. A real lifesaver.

The 2 tons of water are useful though. Cooling off a buddy, limiting the spreading collateral damage in places you want to use, and being able to say it was the other people who escalated after getting too uppity to be dispersed by hose.

My B1-ISM Bloodhound is rather minimally armed, mounting only a pair of Medium re-engineered lasers, one to each arm. It has a Clan chassis, a Clan XL engine, 12 Clan DHS, a Clan Watchdog CEWS. The reason is to add a Clan partial wing, 7 jump jets, and both a Null-Sig and CLP system to it.
And even then it only costs a bit over 13mil in C-bills.

my Bloodhound 2 is similar but differnt. i upgraded the ERML and the active probe and ecm to clan spec, swapped out the streak and the ERSL for 2 x MML 3 and 2 x SPL. and the remaining half ton upgraded the CASE to CASE II.
Seems like a solid mech for the job it's intended for, which is hunting lighter units. It won't likely win fights at its weight bracket, but that's not the point of this mech.

Nice little mech, sounds like it would work well with 2 or 3 Adders and Puma as a command mech on a war crim....I mean spec op star.
The Bloodhound is one of the few mechs that looks VERY weird and yet somehow manages to make it look cool.
Personally i like the base design, but i would drop the small laser and one DHS for 3 jump jets, the increase in mobility is worth more than the miniscule firepower from the small laser.
Yes, that means i might have to not fire one of the lasers for one turn, but the pros outweight the cons in my opinion.
Try a partial wing if you do this as a Clan refit. You get both increased jump and cooling as a result.

Hey, this is one I didn't really know about. Honestly, I've looked at this machine a few times, and generally end up comparing it to a P-hawk ... and taking the P-hawk. The lack of jump capability really hurt it IMHO. Your MF variant is quite interesting, however. I might not go that far, but I have built an ilClan era unit with support that has ties to Clan Sea Fox merchants. So ... maybe a refit chassis is in order. Hmm... And I totally agree, this one is in DIRE need of a CGL facelift. 🙂
I love the overall look of the Bloodhound. The loadout of the MF version looks like something I would do as a Mod in my games. I have so many mechs with a MF version identifier, I wonder why that is...hmmmm

Why not go with a Watchdog System instead of a ECM and Active Probe? Feels like it would have fit well into the theme of the bloodhound.

My Bloodhound got CT destroyed by a Hunchback IIC that refused to die in some tunnels. I couldn’t recover it. Makes me sad.

A mech designed for one of the role of counter insurgency/guerillia warfare, wich is one of the duties most mechwarriors do not want themselves to find in (unless youre from the draconis combine in wich case: civilians.. insurgents? God will sort em out!)
While the wiki says that the mech is light on firepower i tend to disagree, this fast little 45 tonner has 3 ER med lasers and a srm 6.. more then enough to deal with threats of its own size or lighter, and lets be honest: that is all it should be dealing with. Thanks to its beagle probe it also makes a great scout though the lack of jumpjets means it has to be carefull when faced with difficult terrain.
The mech has no known quirks, so no benefits or flaws to be found on it. As a merc commander the mech is a solid enough pick. Its parts are at the time of its introduction readily available, and its flexible enough that it can be used as part of a light to medium scout lance or as a light bodyguard. It also makes for a good interceptor for convoy protection or as a pursuit mech.
The one role it doesnt really shine in incidently is what it was initially designed for: counter insurgency. Seeing that it lacks any machineguns or flamers to deal with infantry formations in its original configuration, or jumpjets to maneuvre in urban enviroments. The intend behind the design seems to be that its supposed to deal with any light armor assets the insurgents might field and leave infantry formations to other more capable mechs, wich leaves it vulnerable to dug in infantry ambushes wich can be devastating at that weight class.
Oh and.. what the hell where the designers of that mech smoking to come up with that look? XD
In the galactic feudal future of humanity, the Bloodhound's fluid gun tanks are filled by Glock. Yes, that same company started by Gaston Glock. iykyk...

I often use "Just look at it!" as a reason to use a mech, see the Dola, but it works both ways.
This is good, but oh is it ugly. It gets used in spite of how it looks. Also the fluid gun is stupid and I love it.
Very strange looking mech. It reminds me of a Kazoo on legs, or of Fred Blassie's song Pencil-neck geek.

Ah, the Bloodhound. Basically an upgraded Phoenix Hawk, with a twist.
I am not really a 'fan' of the basic Bloodhound Mech. But I think your reworking of it has merit.
I am not sure that putting a missile weapon into such a Mech is warranted, when that tonage could be allocated to more beam weapons and more double strength heat sinks.
The Clan Active Probe and ECM Suite are both good systems, and worth the expense.
I do not see the B-Pods in your variant. I would use some of the 'saved' tonnage to put those back onto the Mech. And, since the Mech is mostly Clan Tech, why not use Clan DSHS as well?
By my estimate, there should be enough room left in the Mech for the addition of Triple Strength Myomers.
A nine-point punch and eighteen-point kick are not to be underestimated when dealing with Enemy Light Mechs, and even the lighter of the various Medium Mechs.
This, of course, presupposes the use of the rule that individual heat sinks can be turned on and off, so as to maintain that critical median temp needed for the TSM to work efficiently.
Wait did I miss some subtle sarcasm here? Can you actually USE the giant squirt gun to cool off ally Mechs if you load it up with water?
Liquid Oxygen tanker trucks already exist for that purpose in game, called coolant trucks. So why not do that with this mech?
Personally I see it more as a napalm delivery system, 3,250 liters or 621 gallons, plus the 4 flamers and you have a city fighters worst nightmare.

Add Disco Lasers
And a repurposed Capellan Propaganda Broadcast system for music and you have the Party mech.
Had an Urbie we changed to Kegger name.
All free spaces were made to hold fluid tanks.
Was made for water theft (pumps work both ways) under the guise of being a firefighter.
It actually had arms added full with hands.
First raid it found a brewery and distillery.
9.5 tons of booze-beer siphoned.

Plus highly concentrated alcohol _does_ burn, so I wouldn't exactly call that load not a weapon. Though there must also be a bunch of nerds somewhere using it for coffee delivery when that overnighter deathmarch absolutely cannot be avoided, no matter the cost.
The engineers seem to have understood the assignment for this one. Well except for that extra heat sink, maybe they got tired of mechwarriors always complaining about how hot mech cockpits are.
Could be it was designed on a planet with an above normal temperature as well. People seem to forget that there is a range of planets, not all are Earth-like in temperatures or even inhabitable due to heat or cold.
And let's not forget that incendiaries are a distinct probability when facing insurgents with foreign backing in Battletech.

I think standard SRM6 and SPL would have been better for the original intended profile. Better anti infantry capability.

There's one thing that irks me about the Bloodhound... The legs being in front of the arms, along with the low, forward head/cockpit... It just looks not-right.

There's only a single piece of official art for the Bloodhound. I edited the black and white line drawing to add color and camo patterns. Sorry. I don't make enough from these videos to commission custom art pieces for each variant.
