I mix worship on an M32r and also have an MR18 that I've used for live gigs. We're using the powered Turbosound wedges with the coaxial speakers. They also take ultranet. But that is not my point. Usually the backup singers just want to hear themselves as they get plenty of the vox and instruments in the ambient sound on stage. They just need to hear their own voice for pitch and tone production. So using the ultranet you could send the input channel directly out to the singer to hear themselves. Level would just have to happen at the wedge, which could be a problem.
That's quite neat. I've used the FX send on smaller analogue desks to run monitor feeds (but they were post fader unfortunately), but never thought to use the FX sends on the XR18 for extra monitors. As I plan on using 2 of the 6 Aux buses for a stereo "Livestream" feed, that leaves me with only 4 possible monitor feeds, and since I only use 2 of the FX sends for "Instrument Reverb" and "Vocal Reverb" I can then make use of the remaining 2 FX sends for monitor sends. Btw, I'm also using an Audix T-50 K Inline impedance converter so that I can plug my talkback microphone into inputs 17/18, so that I don't use up any of the precious 16 channels.
So what are you actually gaining if you use effects channels for bus mixes? You lose all effects. Who mixes without effects? Can you explain additional purposes of this device? Thanks
I would love to have a DN4816-O either to use as a split-snake, but you could also use it as a matrix. Using the FX buses for monitors is a great idea too. I'm glad that there are more purposes built into ultranet than one could appreciate at first impressions.

Recently i bought a behringer p16 for monitoring (obviously). Butttt..... in don't want all the drums on my p16, i want just 2 channels for al the drums. How can i do that? I think a great idea with this mixer would be to connect the mr18 mixer to a computer create 14 mono/7 stereo mix buses and 2 routed to the computer for a 2 bus mix from the mixer with backing tracks etc routed to each bus and then return back to the ultranet with those buses. for each musician. supply the musicians with a behringer microMon ma400 so that they can control their instrument volume and the bus mix volume and send the instrument to the mixer.

For that reason I bought the DN4816-0. There is only one problem. My drummer is using the P16-M Headphone Mixer/Monitor. When the DN4816-0 is pluged into the MR18's Ultranet out, I can't connect the Output from the DN4816-0 to his P16-M. If I want to have the connection, I need to go into the P16-M first, and then use the "Trough" connector into the DN4816-0's Ultranet input. I would have loved the possibility to plug the MR18's Ultranet out into the DN4816-0, have the 16 XLR outs for the FoH-desk, and use the second cat-connector for daisy chaining into the P16-M. The only way , If I want to prevent to put a cat-cable into the P16-M first and then replug the Ultranet-Trough with the DN4816-0 is the Klark Teknik DN4816-U converter or use an Ultranet-splitter. Would have been great, if the cat-output of the DN4816-0 would support the Ultranet format.
Hmm that's weird. It is ultranet and you can daisy chain multiple of these units. It's strange that it doesn't talk to the p16 mixer. I'll take your word for it because i don't have this unit in my country to try it out but maybe they would fix this with a firmware update in the future

You would send the channels to an fx bus Let's say you put the stereo delay effect on that bus Turn the mix all the way down on that effect so that you're only getting the dry signal You'll receive that signal on the effect return channel You have to turn off the main stereo button so that it doesn't go to your main mix Then in the ultranet page you assign ultranet 1 to FX 1L and ultranet 2 to FX 1R for example And that effect return channel would be your "bus master"
Can we perharps just use long cat5 cable (30 meters length in example) and then put the DN4816 beside the FOH mixers instead of put the DN4816 in the same rack with XR? I mean to make xlr requirement shorter for connectiing the analog out to the FOH Mixers. I hope u understand my words. Pardon for my bad english.

No the condenser microphone is powered by the phantom power of the preamp that it's directly plugged into Don't use phantom power on anything else because it may damage your equipment

Still a missing piece in this puzzle, how to get 6 stereo pairs out for in ear monitor mixes, currently you are limited to mono monitor mixes fine for stage wedges, but the in ear people are now demanding stereo in ear mixes.
well.. 6 mono sends..or 3 stereo sends.. I use in ears in stereo. Bus 5/6 linked (aux outs 5/6 to in ear mixer..)...so technically with this hack above, you could get 5 stereo sends.

When I go to the routing page for the ultranet outputs I set each output to "input" on the iPad. I did see on the PC mixer that there is option for "analog" and was wondering if that might be the solution
There's no way to mix the signal when you have multiple signals on a particular Ultranet buss. It's all the same signal strength - no way to get a custom monitor mic with this. The only way this will work on an MR18 is for 16 descrete channels going to FOH - it's basically a splitter snake.
If you sacrifice fx returns channels you can change the input of these to usb 1-2, usb 3-4, usb 5-6... So you can have an extra 4 stereo inputs coming from your computer But you cannot add analog inputs
The only simple option for adding more imputs to the xr16 other than upgrading is adding a sub mixer, its not ideal but works. You feed the main outs from your sub mixer to a pair of imputs on the xr16 as the main mixer, you should try to group items (eg drum mics) on the sub mixer since they arent seperate but get fed in to your main as a stereo mix but depending on your setup its workable, and can be cheaper if you already have another small mixer knocking about rather than upgrading the whole mixer to a larger one with more inputs.

behringer made an ultranet/stageconnect adapter, they could make an ultranet/aes-50, so the mr18 becomes a stagebox for the m32

the best part, is that if you route the return of the effect to the ultranet, you now get 4 outputs in stereo, that is, 8 additional outputs.
and if somehow it were possible to pan the send for the effect, it would be possible to use these 8 auxiliary outputs in mono.

Make a stereo bus and send all the drums to it then in the ultranet page assign 2 of the ultranet channels to that stereo bus

get a P16D then, so you can have multiple outs and you can skip power supply for drummer P16M

No. the eq you do is on the bus. You can't eq an output

Unfortunately no. But you can use the headphones output and assign 2 different busses tl it if you're not doing that already

Do you know why when I mute a channel on the xr18 it also mutes the channel on the DN4816? I switched the outputs to "input" instead of "input+mute"

You could always get an xr12 and run out of that into a channel on the 18. You would just need a tablet for each.
