I have never paid one dollar for servicing in over 40,000 km because this machine is as basic as they can and any competent home mechanic can do the work
You are right I demo rode one and didn’t even want a new bike but I rode it and the guy told me to take it back out so I rode it for 4-5 hours went home laid on my back kicking and screaming to my wife I want this FTR so bad, well she surprised me and went out and bought it for me , man I didn’t even think she liked me anymore, but now I can’t stop riding it, I have 13 bikes of all kind dirt bikes street bikes touring bikes but the FTR is the only one I ride , took it Coast to Coast last year and had a blast , the stock seat sucks but I bought an airhawk seat pad for the long rides, what a great bike, thanks honey
This is what I waited for, what my biggest thought since I fell in love with the bike was looking for videos and information on it was how will it run in the Nordics? It is fine seeing it crusing around in Florida in a bunch of vlogs but it is another thing in Nordics. We have good summer weather for like 2 months? So thanks for that input, it is worth a ton and it is also why I watch you as the regional/Nordic part is so super and needed.
The 22 exhaust change from my understanding was to meet the new Euro spec which makes it harder to remove environmental protection functions. Great review! I have a similar story. I owned a Scout and went to a Saturday test ride event with no intention buying. They allowed a time limited free travel ride not a group. I ended up trying all 4 they had there just because I was enjoying myself so much, I couldn’t force myself to get off of it. Ended up with one 2 days later.
Fantastic 😅😍 Sound legit with the environmental protection, but I keep thinking of the collab they have with Akrapovic, maybe they have pulled some strings? 🤔
for me this is the most beautiful motorbike on the planet right now. As a 34 year old beginner I'd just hope that they make a 900 Version, that is a bit more approachable for a newbie
Engine braking ? It’s got a slipper clutch , drop it down early on the gears would cause the clutch slip and prevent a rear wheel lock up ,but also reduce engine braking.
Agree, worst thing i did, was to testride the FTR in 2020. Out of all the 40+ bikes that I owned, this is probably in the top 2 bikes. Since that ride i know i will sell my HD FXD. Even thou that Harley did cost me an arm and a leg for Stage IV bigbore and stroker kit and all the stainless stuff. (HD is not in the top 2 but still fun in its own) (I have to say that the FTR1200 had some simularities with my BMW HP2 Enduro outfitted with supermoto wheels.)
I had a ‘19 base and got rid of it. Got a big cruiser and rode some other bikes and just missed the FTR too much, so I’m back on the FTR train with a ‘23 carbon r 😂
1 thing for future owners i would have mentioned is the difference between 2019 and 2022 FTR's ;) the tires make a huge difference in handling, tirechoice and ride feeling. some love the 19 and hate the 22's handling (and in less extend look of the lowered bike) i am so happy they made the 22 more road oriented and more agile nakedbike style. cold start issues are mainly fixed with a tune (i got Lloydz secret sauce) but a huge part of it is the crappy stock battery too it seems, it died on me a couple of weeks ago. the Lloydz Tune is a must have for FTR riders in my opinion and for me it was only 1.5 hour ride to the dealer in the Netherlands that could do the remote secret sauce tune :)
I don't understand people who buy an FTR with 17-inchers. There are simply much better bikes with that wheel size. The 19s made it unique, there was and is no competition.
Great bike! The cold start problem mostly goes after a few thousand miles it seems… and of course a tune can make it go away immediately. The refueling issue is a definite down side… as is the frequency with which you have to experience it… also the bike sits high… so if you are short of inseam that might be an issue… but otherwise… this is a fantastic bike… oh and one other small niggle… no helmet hook much less lock… seems that should be standard on every bike.
Definitely agree with all these points. Height shouldn't be an issue though. I have a 2019 and I'm 5' 6" at 135lbs. Not a big guy but I just 1 leg it. Not a problem after a few rides on it.
I have the 2023 rally and it has a hard time starting. The battery is always dead but its charging to 14 volts. I keep taking it back and they give me a new battery and say it all tests good. A day later its dead and im stranded. If it happens one more time I'm going to get my money back with the lemon law.
The cold running issues and the welded on cat are all big brother EU, WEF style bs , thank goodness I got the earlier model and with a pv3 I can choose 😀. The bike is excellent in all ways apart from touring, panniers are a problem and this hot summer the rear cylinder cooked my arse/ leg like a ham 🐷, not a regular issue in uk 😀. Servicing/parts are Ducati level, £100 for a brake lever ( cold cut out)! Forum is great but don't ask about scottoilers!! BTW don't test ride if you don't want! I had an internet test ride offer and afterwards I had monkey brain telling me to buy it for a year, then I rode the 17" wheel version and monkey made the choice of the ' 19 base model, liked the feel more and hated the wide-screen TV dash, base has an analog speedo and I got the mode button switches, tail tidy and S&S end can, don't go deaf on a run but still a good sound
Tak for review! Overvejer virkelig at købe en selv. Men er i tvivl om størrelsen - fysisk. Må jeg spørge hvor høj du er og hvor godt du sidder på den? 🤘🏻
I would like to ask you something. The exhaust you have now (jakel and hiper) is legal ?. I live in Spain and I would like to be able to enjoy the escape without legal problems. Thanks and greetings from Spain.
The Jekyll & Hyde exhaust setup is 100% street legal - CE Approved 🤘 But when that said, you will get the best result with removing the catalyst and by using a link pipe 👌
@@MOTOMARVELOUS Thanks!!! but removing the catalyst and using a link pipe is still legit? Thank you again PD: if it's legal, I'll put it on. I need to hear the beast rule.
Well, you don't have to look cool when riding a motorcycle but... you have to look cool when riding a motorcycle hahahaha Enjoyed the video and the passion you have for this bike. It's one I'd buy in a blink of an eye
Hi man, im in that situation that I've done a wheel swap from the 2022 model. So i run a 17" Bridgestone S22 rear and a 19" Bridgestone t32 in front :)
That’s crazy what you have to pay for that bike over there, assuming I heard that correctly. I’ll load up 50 of them and personally sail them over to you. Haha

Great story, great bike, great wife!! 🧡
You should think about keeping that woman around
didn't even think she liked me anymore 😂😂
I will get mad at you if you ever make her mad at you!
"you're still in lööv with the machine" 👌🏻😂
Thanks for your review about the FTR. I just bought the brand new FTR 1200 (2022) and I loved.

You are right about the test ride. I tried it and now it’s all I want. Thanks for making the cool videos!
Exactly 😅
just ordered powervision tuner and link pipe to my s&s slip on!cant wait to get them delivered!

this is my dream bike and watching this is like living the dream!! loved it bro
I hope you’ll be able to buy one some day 🤘
Hey. Thanks for the great video and review.
How do you compare it to your Kawasaki Z900? As far as performance, top speed and agility?
I just got my ftr base model. Do you experience the throttle surging when trying to just cruise?
I thought 14k was bad. 35k WHAT!!!!! Im glad i live in boston, mass

183, og sidder fantastisk! Det er en relativ høj cykel, men kender masser af knapt så høje mennesker, som sagtens kan få det til at virke :)

love the paint job

Is there anything in the fwd fake fuel tank?

Great video, yeah I’m as hot for my FTR as you for yours. 👍 and for many of the same reasons.
They put the gas tank there not on.y for looks, it also lowers the centre of gravity.
