    Ok'd absolute true believer. 4 handicap at 66. 225 top drive prior to following you. Gradually increasing now 240 -----but only when I make the right shift and rotate. Some times I shift too much or shift to little. Any drills to get the "slight" shift and proper rotation of hips... Thanks for all the help. Shooting age in site.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 роки тому

      Very good. I love hearing it. It is a turn and shift. All you need to do is watch your ball. Too much shift = push/push fade/duck hook (if you roll it too much). Too little shift = pull/pull hook/pull slice/push slice (if the face is way open). At a 4 hdcp you got this. So simple.

    As someone who has been watching the likes of Marcus Bell and Paul for some time now, I can safely say that this ‘allowance’ of lifting the left heel has made the single biggest impact on my swing. For years i had it drilled into me that lifting the left heel was a big ‘No No’ but when I started doing it two things happened, firstly significantly more distance but secondly it allows me to push the heel back down and transfer weight. Add in all the relaxed arms and hey presto, you are hitting relaxed long drives 250yds+.....great work Paul

    Paul, This video is extremely helpful for coiling. Do you have to manually move your head or does it move on its own during the coil?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 роки тому

      As you coil, your head should be moving but some people don't allow this to happen so I need them to move it but it's not a sideways move. You are coiling allowing it to move. This might help:

    Hi Paul, when you feel your left shoulder initiating the back swing, are your arms relaxed enough that they don’t move the exact same time back as your left shoulder or is the Y unit all moving at the same time? Trying to understand if the arms should be as relaxed as in the downswing. Thank you!

    • @paulwilsongolf

    Great video. So when I go for the back swing with all my clubs it is circular motion. Right.
    And downswing is also circular not a sea saw. Please advice.
    Thanks all the clubs including pitching wedge.

      Absolutely. All clubs. There is lateral going between the 2 axis but if you threw a ball you would shift and turn. You would not just shift. So throw some balls and you will get the feeling in the downswing.

    Should I rotate my hips at the top of the swing or at waist parallel....I just an instructor that teaches that...because he said the hands can never catch up?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 роки тому

      Not sure what you are asking. Rotate the hips to start the downswing? You would start doing this as soon as you come down. It is a turn and a shift. Clarify if I am not understanding you.

    • @ko9306
      @ko9306 4 роки тому

      Paul Wilson Golf....I watched an instructor teaching a student on utube that...the hips do not fully rotate until the club is about parallel to the ground on the downswing....otherwise the arms and hands will not catch up to the impact zone and you will block the shot? I have always worked on starting my rotation before my club and hands reach the full backswing...it just seems like he is discussing a gray area at that point in the downswing?

      I could fix that person in 3 mins. There is timing between the release and the body. Turn the body faster and of course they are going to push it. Need to hook a few first then first the body faster. How do people not see this stuff.

    I still think that I am hitting the ball 250 or so yards even without perfect movement of my body, uncoiling my hips as Mr. Wilson shows. Perhaps I can hit closer to 270 years with complete and appropriate hip movement. Contact with ball now is excellent, but not enough power released for greater distance. Also practice 3 and 4 irons regularly. Generally excellent hitting, but occasional mistakes. Iron swing better than driver swing. 3 wood not correct yet.

    Hi Paul, thanks for the videos. I have a question about the club's face angle when at the top of your back swing. I know you want people to have loose wrists when they take their swing, but I have found that in order to have loose wrists I need to keep my wrists at a comfortable and neutral angle. A consequence of this is that the face angle of my club stays facing along the horizon at the top of my swing. Other teachers out there say this creates a very open face and leads to slicing. Many of these teachers recommend a slight rotational bend in the wrists at the top of your back swing so the face of the club is pointing towards the sky. Basically twist your wrists so the velcro of your golf glove points towards the sky. This supposedly leads to a more square club face at the point of impact. I have tried incorporating this wrist rotation while practicing your loose wrist technique, and the two just don't jive very well. My wrists get locked up when I twist them at the top of my swing.
    So my question is, when using your loose wrist technique, should I not care about the face angle my club has at the top of the back swing? Is this a concern people should have with your swing technique? And secondly, if I still struggle with the ball either fading or just being pushed towards the right while using your loose wrist technique, what recommendations to do you suggest for getting the club face a bit more square at impact? I am currently using a "strong" left hand grip (showing 2 knuckles) with a neutral and soft right hand grip, like you teach.
    Thanks for your help,
    Tom

    This is excellent and very timely. I have been following all of your other tips and this was almost a missing link. I had concluded that I needed to start the swing with my shoulders (in order to keep my arms out of it) but I wasn’t rotating them to anything like that degree.
    This combined with another point in a previous video where you said that you think about starting the hips firing even before you reach the top of the backswing has been an almost eureka moment for me. I became aware that once I started the backswing I wasn’t consciously thinking of anything and this helped my arms to take back control.
    There is a nugget to take away from every one of your videos even if that nugget is simply reinforcing a point that didn’t hit home sufficiently the first time.
    You are making me enjoy the driving range for the first time as I at last have a purpose for it and am seeing incremental improvements. Yet to take these onto the course if I am honest but I don’t really care about that at the moment because I am retraining my brain to disengage my arms and they resist like crazy when on the course.

    Question to Paul - I bought your swing machine golf dvd a few years back - just wanted to check: is the bodyswing dvd basically the same instruction? I assume it will be the same philosophy (ie effortless swing, powerless arms etc) but are the teachings/drills the same as well?

    • @paulwilsongolf

      Similar but with added things people mentioned in the tens of thousands of questions I have answered over the years. The compliment each other. It is more simple as I figured out how to get it to 4 positions instead of six plus other stuff too. How to get distance, how to fix your own swing but I would never change what I do. It works.

    • @paulwilsongolf

      Glad you like them. Yes, you may be over rotating the lower. The over the top is coming from you hitting. When you hit you lean forward. Lean forward and you swing over the top. Watch: ua-cam.com/video/sbE-hzTXgNo/v-deo.html just work on that then get firing the lower to make it happen. Listen carefully to what I say in the tip.

      Glad you like the tips. The arms pulling down will cause many issues. Chuck, slice, pull, pull hook, topping, heeling, shank push slice if the face is way open. Push, push fade, duck hook, toeing, thin are too much sideways or body. You get the speed from the hinge and rehinge. Turn your body for more power. Never hit.

      You need to pick out a spot in front of the ball and trust that is the spot. So do your practice strokes first. From behind the ball pick your intermediate target. Stay focused on that as you approach the ball and make your stroke to that target. Not sure how you can go wrong doing it this way.
