Don't be afraid asking locals. Carinderias or turo turo (point point) are where you'll find real local food. They're usually found at roadsides in local villages or in markets near schools, small businesses and churches.

There is a lot to explore in Intramuros that you did not go to: Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church and Casa Manila are one of the examples. Nearby to Rizal Park you missed to visit The 3 National Museums named as The National Museum of Fine Arts, Anthropology and Natural History. You can also have a food trip in Binondo, Manila especially in Chinatown; The oldest Chinatown in the World. Actually a lot of streets and corners in The City of Manila has so much history and story to tell compared to the rest of the Cities in Metro Manila.

Yall should check out Makati and BGC where the place looks like singapore or new york etc etc cause of how modern it is. yeah there's so much to see, there' history and there's the future in one place
yeah BGC is a step above Makati as it's fairly newer and developed. It used to be where the American base was but when they left, they developed it into what it is now. People say it reminds to them of manhattan, or singapore, or seoul. It also has a lot of greenery and art all over so it's pretty crazy. Ortigas is another place with a huge mall (megamall), but i'm not sure what else there is there, but a lot of construction for new buildings. saw some dude on youtube visiting and showed some buildings with green plants all over it, which was interesting, and a must for environment. cheers!@@gabbyandreece

guys, glad to see your first Philippine vlog, I am sorry to hear that you were scammed, the fare for calesa is just 250 pesos up to 500, so sorry you experienced that, although you can inform the authorities that you were scammed, anyhow, I'll check on my friends in Manila, and will ask to take action, that shouldn't happen.
Oh that’s interesting to know! It was actually the security guard at 0:45 that suggested the calesa and said it would be around 1000 pesos, so I’m guessing they were involved in the scam. Thanks for the info! 😎

Wow I’m impressed! You’ve covered a lot of places in one video 💙 The kalesa ride (horse) and tuktuk could get very expensive. The jeepney rides is cheap that’s why the locals prefer them 😂 Definitely the traffic is madness! There’s not much road rules and regulations except certain areas in Makati and BGC. It’s hard to get used to coming from a western country like myself. Did you mix mix the halo halo 😂? Anyways have fun in the 🇵🇭.
For a first introduction into filipino food for a foreigner, I think "manam" is a good start. It has very good filipino food. You can find it at the most spots you would go, like the Mall of Asia or BGC for example. For other cities, for example for trying original Lechon in Cebu, "House of Lechon" is a good place.

try to visit the National Museum nearby near the Manila City Hall n the Rizal park....and for a glimpse of Spanish colonial Manila visit Las Casas de Acuzar along Roosevelt Ave., in Quezon City...you can take a Grab taxi to go there....reminder if u are to buy anything try to haggle at least half the price or bit more of the product
There are always some Filipinos trying to scam foreigners and it's sad but thanks for being patient and understanding. Consider it as a charity but I recommend always negotiating the amount first. You can also ask around if it's the right price.
it is indeed a tuktuk, BUT it's more widely known as a **tricycle** in the Philippines, just to prevent confusion when you're talking to a tricycle driver. also Halo-halo (translates to Mix-mix) only tastes good when mixed 😂 Happy Travels!

Its more fun if you interact with the friendly locals. Visit the modest carenderia to find the better priced local foods. What you have visited were high end restauranrts with exorbitant prices.
don't be afraid to argue with those scammers and stands to what you had dealt with them specially the ride price. if the arguments escalates go to the nearest police station and file a your concern about the incident. we don't tolerate those kinds of demeanors towards any potential visitors, or any foreign expats who might encounter these kinds of random oppurtunists. just take care and proactively aware of those scammer wherever and whenever you go here in the Philippines. In addition next time prior when you guys trying or planning roaming outdoors do a little research of the place info, route, mode of transport these to save much of your time and money. and pls don't just pay up quickly as they told you if you think your bill is way overpriced stand and make a bargain. tell them that you knew what the appropriate fair or even the right price to whatever you tend to purchase.
Absolutely! I think if we had better planned ahead of time we could have avoided the situation and would have never ended up paying that amount. Lesson learnt though, thanks for your feedback! 🙏

Don't be afraid asking locals. Carinderias or turo turo (point point) are where you'll find real local food. They're usually found at roadsides in local villages or in markets near schools, small businesses and churches.
Thanks for the info! We’ll definitely check out the Carinderias & turo turo points 🙏
also choose presentable carinderia so you wont upset your stomach as you guys are not used to with the food. Enjoy your stay.

Yall should check out Makati and BGC where the place looks like singapore or new york etc etc cause of how modern it is. yeah there's so much to see, there' history and there's the future in one place
Amazing! We drove through Makati and it looked incredible! We’ll check out BGC - thanks for the suggestions 😊
yeah BGC is a step above Makati as it's fairly newer and developed.

Welcome to the Philippines! Have fun and enjoy. Take care.
Thank you 🙏
guys, glad to see your first Philippine vlog, I am sorry to hear that you were scammed, the fare for calesa is just 250 pesos up to 500, so sorry you experienced that, although you can inform the authorities that you were scammed, anyhow, I'll check on my friends in Manila, and will ask to take action, that shouldn't happen.
Oh that’s interesting to know! It was actually the security guard at 0:45 that suggested the calesa and said it would be around 1000 pesos, so I’m guessing they were involved in the scam. Thanks for the info! 😎
So lovely to meet you and your wife! Thank you for letting us know!! We will try more of the Filipino food in our next few videos 😀
@@gabbyandreece darn it, (sorry for that) we owe you both, I will inform the Department of Tourism, they should have treated you fairly.
@@quadmedia Thank you for that, we really appreciate it 🙏
@@gabbyandreece can I CC you with the email to the Department of Tourism, this needs to escalate, others might be doing to them, and that shouldn't be.
Warm welcome to the Philippines.
Thank you, thank you! 🙏
Hey! Thanks for your kind words, really appreciated ❤️ Nope, we didn’t mix the halo halo but that makes a lot of sense now 😂😂
yeah the driver dude should have explained that halo halo means Mix Mix 🤣🤣@@gabbyandreece
Actually I fit right in, and I am from a western country
You will boost your subscribers visiting Philippines cause Filipinos support foreign bloggers

Food to try that’s authentic Filipino food:
• sinigang (pork belly)
• pork adobo
• kare kare (tripe and oxtail)
• Lechon (roast pork)
• diniguan
If you are in a mall, there is a Filipino cuisine restaurant called Manam. Every mall or anywhere near it, there is Manam.
More authentic experience would be to it in a Carinderia.
try to visit the National Museum nearby near the Manila City Hall n the Rizal park....and for a glimpse of Spanish colonial Manila visit Las Casas de Acuzar along Roosevelt Ave., in Quezon City...you can take a Grab taxi to go there....reminder if u are to buy anything try to haggle at least half the price or bit more of the product

Haha, yeah we didn’t realise about the halo-halo but makes perfect sense now 😂😂

Its more fun if you interact with the friendly locals. Visit the modest carenderia to find the better priced local foods. What you have visited were high end restauranrts with exorbitant prices.
Visit BGC and Salcedo Makati market on Saturday to see a difference side of Manila.
😅❤😮
don't be afraid to argue with those scammers and stands to what you had dealt with them specially the ride price. if the arguments escalates go to the nearest police station and file a your concern about the incident. we don't tolerate those kinds of demeanors towards any potential visitors, or any foreign expats who might encounter these kinds of random oppurtunists. just take care and proactively aware of those scammer wherever and whenever you go here in the Philippines.
