Corgi Juniors Mercedes C111 (018)

- On the bench today is a 1:64 scale Corgi Juniors Mercedes CIII. Cool looking car. I thought it was a Lotus Europa at first glance - as they have a similar look. I’m not familiar with this Mercedes, or this Corgi model. As always, I did a UA-cam search to see what other restorers are doing to theirs, and I couldn’t find one. Not one. Maybe I’m breaking new ground here.
At any rate, I did the regular break down and cleaning. On this project I swapped out the wheels. The interior has been painted and the engine chromed. And I tried a bold experiment. During these COVID-19 lockdown days, I can’t get to the stores to buy supplies and I had run out of clear coat. Having seen this done elsewhere on UA-cam by a couple of my restorer heroes, I tried brushing on the floor polish that’s normally used to revitalize the windshields. It goes on clear. It’s self levelling. And, ultimately it gives the shine and protection I wanted. A success, in my opinion, at least as a stop-gap solution. Leave your comments below if you wish to weigh in.
Enjoy the restoration. If you like the video, please give it a thumbs up, subscribe to my channel and hit the notification bell for regularly updated content. Your comments are always welcome. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

A very pretty casting. I've never seen it before. It came out beautiful. Floor polish can work for a while, but nothing like clear coat 👍
Hi Hugo, thanks for the comments. I appreciate the positive feedback. The floor polish is an experiment on this model, out of necessity. We're locked down in Switzerland for several more weeks, and I can't get to my post office box in Germany where all my Amazon-ordered supplies are waiting for pickup. So for now it'll have to do. Clear coat again when I'm restocked!
Sweet job my friend that turned out a lot better than new!
Thanks, Opa. You just made my day.
@@MapleLeafCustoms you're welcome my friend! While I'm thinking about it keep your eyes open for a corgi's junior passenger door bar a Mercedes 300sl if you would please!
I have one as well and was thinking to do it too. Excellent job
Thanks for the positive feedback. I hope you'll post a video of your restoration too when you do it. I couldn't find one on UA-cam...
I subscribed because you're Canadian. :-) On another note, nice work on the Mercedes. Glad you painted that cheap-looking base. Looks much better now, including those spiffy wheels. Cheers!
Greetings from a transplanted Canuck now in Switzerland. Thanks for sub! Stay safe. Stay healthy. And come on back.
I'm impress
Thanks, buddy. Have a great day!
