Indeed Vinny needs to get a grip!!! You'd think by now he'd have figured out how to hold up a salmon. That fish was gone before he even knew it! This release will be unforgettable.

LMAO. So if 2022 is a wrap for salmon fishing, what's next? Can't wait to get back out there, and missing the Kenai River.. considering a trip in mid-late October. Do you fish around that time, and what could I expect in Soldotna around that time?

Soldotna fishing for trout on the lakes or in the river is possible until freeze up. Homer can be good for Kings thru October if you can get on the salt to troll around. I personally will be spending most of my daylight preparing for Winter and finishing up some other projects.

the real difficulty with being there later october is the services yo'u'll have access to across the state. Many towns wind down tourism support businesses and literally close up their doors. It's not that you can't fish, but you will be on your own for many things, and your options will be limited for some activities and services.

Catch and release is good too.

Yes, this is the silver lining approach that I had Vinny make peace with after his unexpected loss!

You catch that recently? Is it still silver season?

Its been over a week now since I've seen a salmon. I'd say 2022 is a wrap... The seagulls have flown out and the salmon have spawned. Now we wait for the next generation to return home.

@@alaskasmallcraftadventures thanks for the information. Been a good year either way, finally caught a a silver this year after years of trying. Coming up from oklahoma it’s been a steep learning curve for salmon fishing.

Hey man, I'm from Austria and am planning a trip to Alaska next may. Would love it if we could fish together! If you use any other social media or have any contact info for me, that would be great 👍

Right on! Alaska’s Summer and fishing season starts up the end of May on Memorial Day weekend. The smaller rivers on the Kenai Peninsula open up for King Salmon and the weather starts to warm up. Fishing the salt water for salmon and halibut will bring you the most action that time of year. If you make it, give me a shout out on this channel and check back in with me!
