Nice footage of the underwater action that takes place while waiting for a bite. Very interesting to see the bottom baits do well compared to the pop up. Also turtles are a menace lol

This footage teaches a lot about what is going on around our packbait. It confirms my experience that carp most often ignore pop-up baits that are off the bottom. I do much better with my hook bait on the bottom... Thanks!

This is the most interesting, non-action movie that I have watched for months.

Great video Tom! Thanks for taking the time to create this educational video…I always learn through observation when viewing this type of video. It kind of verifies my feelings about the usefulness of pop-ups! I’ve personally not had much success with them and I note in this video a number of rejections!!
    Keep up the great work!!

Yep, the carp didn't care for the floaty baits at this place. Thanks Art!

Very interesting, Tom, to watch the baits dissolve and to see what is attracted to them. I especially enjoyed the painted turtles. Great footage and a new channel neche for you to pursue. Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting video Tom. Amazing how much they can be around the hook and never get caught. None of the catfish , turtles, or carp look like they are line, weight , or hook sly. Was a good eye opener for me. When the carp come around need to play the theme song from Jaws. Thanks for the video.

Ha, that jaws music would be funny, good idea. I'm sure it's copyrighted, but maybe I could find something similar. Thanks David!

I know you like your Tiger nuts but you should try a pop up presentation, maybe a couple pieces of pop up corn on top of the tiger nut? Good video! 👍🏼

Tom, I know that you love your homemade pack bait weights, but how often do you think your bait i.e. fake corn gets stuck under the weight versus freely available to feed on - vs using a weighted pack lead that would typically rest bait side up?

    • @OutsidewithTom

I don't tuck the hook bait into the pack bait, so the way the pack bait lands on the bottom is irrelevant. The hook bait is always exposed. Feel free to check out this video where I explain how my rig works in detail. ua-cam.com/video/36KSNKLIoss/v-deo.html

@@OutsidewithTom A short rig being key for you. Interesting debate between those that tuck vs those that don’t tuck. Likely not a ton of difference in the methods for our typical fishing in Iowa.

Hi Tom :) We watch your videos and think they are very interesting and informative. In Europe, we don't use such weights for bait (the rig).
You can't buy them in Europe, but we don't know if they will work here, because we don't have fish like you (sazan).
We like the idea of a sweet potato from another movie. Can you send one such bait sinker for testing?
We also invite you to our channel :) Best regards Kate & Gerard

Amazing to see how carp will eat from the pile yet just ignore or be repelled with the hook bait that just , somehow, looks unappealing.

It seemed like the fish were wary of the floating boilies. Is your catch rate lower on those have you noticed?

I have better luck with bottom baits.

This is why you need to feather the weight down to the bottom. That way the hook link pushes away from the lead.
