- The formula of a pizza (“sauce, dough and cheese”) is sacred to old-school Brooklyn pizzaiolos like Lucali owner Mark Iacono. But renowned pizza enthusiast Scott Weiner believes that the beauty of the slice comes from it’s creative customizability; whether it’s a pizza made topped with tacos, gold, or re-constructed entirely from a bowl of ramen noodles. So with these franken-pizzas emerging fast onto the classic NYC scene, it’s Scott’s mission to deliver Mark a novel slice that will challenge his notions and spark the debate: what REALLY makes, or breaks, the definition of a “pizza”?
The Cheeseburger Pizza makes a grand entrance with fried eggs, burger patties, french fries and burger buns -- all atop a cheese pie! This mega meal may be more than Scott can handle, but he leaves Queens certain that under the extravagant toppings, it’s still a pizza at heart. 100% agreed. Cheesy hamburger on a pizza with bacon and chipotle mayo sounds amazing. Just get rid of the buns.
Solution: use a nice potato bread that's been crushed flat.
I got a better and dumber solution. Put a thin crust on top of the pizza :D, so it’s an actual burger. Then more stuff on top.

Yeah, no top bun. It's already too much dough, but the guy is onto something. It visually looks appealing but also cartoonish, but I know it'd be too much dough and kind of silly. The bacon, even a couple fries, make sense. Just too much dough happening.

Pepperoni pizza in Italy is "pizza alla diavola", pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and salamino piccante (spicy salami). Of course it's not classic Neapolitan pizza. But we have lots of toppings for pizza.

If you look up at the sky and see 20 ducks all flying together you would call that a flock. Now, is that flock itself (the entire group of 20 ducks) a duck? Or is it something different?
Or you could look at a forest consisting of thousands of trees, bushes, animals, streams etc. Would you look at that forest and say that it is a tree? Or would you acknowledge that, although it consists of many individual trees, the thing we are referring to is not a tree. It has its own unique and distinct identity.
The question is whether this "cheeseburger pizza" is a true pizza or not. It's not about whether there is a pizza in there somewhere. It could have a pizza in its constituent parts and yet fail to be a pizza itself. I mean, the country of Italy contains a pizza. Does that mean that Italy is a pizza?

I've tried various interpretations of a burger pizza, the best one being with lettuce and patties, but no egg or extra bun on top. perfect.
It's a bit too light, they should have added macaroni cheese and royal couscous.
Then call it the "the gluten intolerant (and gourmet) killer".

i worked at a chanticlear pizza while in highschool. They made a kick ass thin crust cheese burger pizza. American cheese, hamburger, pickles, fried onions. They've made that pizza since 1964!!

We do make peperoni pizza but peperoni actually means peppers(not spicy ones just normal ones) while I believe this means spicy sausage slices in American-Pizza-Lingo, we do have an equivalent which is called "diavola"(female devil) because it's spicy. Btw pizza expert guy said we eat pizza with hot dogs and potatoes in Italy and I can confirm, although it's mostly considered a child's pizza choice.

Without the bun and the french fries, we could try to negociate if it's a a pizza or not. But the line is crossed way too far with bun and french fries. But the good points it's that we reach the top of unhealthy eating with that !

I've tried multiple versions of cheeseburger pizza in my life. One from a store, which I cooked myself. It had small meatballs made from beefburgers, used burger cheese, pickles on it, ketchup as the sauce, tomatoes and a bit of mustard squirted around. Honestly tasted pretty good, considering what it was. But it's not a pizza I'd usually eat.
I've also had a burger pizza that was more burger than pizza. It used pizza as the buns, and pieces of a burger inside, with hamburgers inside, coated in cheese.
This is neither a pizza nor a cheeseburger. I would say this is closer to a murtabak/mutabbak/matabbak/mutabbaq or a roti john!

Here in my hometown were it's mainly Hispanic, there is a pizzaria that makes a taco pizza where it's salsa verde as a base, white Oaxaca cheese sirlion with taco seasoning white onion and cilantro and yes it taste like tacos, and they have a hot Cheetos pizza where it's nacho cheese , ground beef topped with hot Cheetos and drizzled with more nacho cheese and pickled jalapenos. Will your stomach hurt? Yes, will you poop blood ? Yes will you eat it again ? Yes.

There's a place here that makes cheeseburger pizza. They use thousand island for the sauce, mozzarella/American cheese, lettuce, onions, and seasoned ground beef. It's fucking delicious!

Rose City pizza out in Rosemead California has a bunch of unique tasty pizzas, one with "elote" which is Mexican corn with mayo, Chile powder, etc.. another with pastrami and mustard, pickles... That place might be a good stop for this show!
i have a place near me that makes a big mac pizza it taste exactly like a big mac. it beef, lettuce, onions, pickles, cheese, and special sauce. taste exactly like a big mac and doesn't need the buns added.
while I think Mark needs to chill it with what defines a pizza, there is a bit too much going on with that pizza. Too much bread to be frank. If they just made it the meatballs and so on like that Reuben pizza, then it would be fine
