    Hello friends!
This easy homemade applesauce is sure to be a hit for any season! No sugar added, naturally sweetened with nothing more than the apples themselves & a dash of apple juice. You can enjoy this treat guilt free! With only five simple ingredients, & a few minutes of your time, you're on your way to the best, easiest, homemade applesauce.
(I've added Amazon links below to the REUSABLE "tattler lids" for canning that I just bought & also my SUPER awesome kitchenAid compatible attachment for PEELING apples that I talk about in this video, check them out below!)
With this canning lid shortage, we need to be smart & ensure that we still have a way to preserve the harvest. This spiraling, peeling, core & slice attachment? You guys, it makes peeling a gazillion apples a breeze! For real...
Applesauce is a favorite in our house. My lil guy Parker especially loves it. I have to regulate how many jars he can have in a day! If not, there won't be much left for anyone else. I guess there could be worse snacks that he could go after though, am I right?
I try my best to focus on recipes that don't include a lot of processed sugar. I absolutely love that this applesauce does not call for any added sugar. The sweetness comes from the apples themselves & a dash of apple juice. Have you seen the amount of sugar in store bought applesauce lately? Yikes! It's like 2 days worth of what your daily sugar intake should be. No thanks. I'll stick with creating something beautiful in my own kitchen that I can feel good about my family eating.
    Tools you will need:
    1. Stock pot
    2. Kitchen blender (optional)
    3. Kitchen aid peeler attachment (optional)
    4. Knife & kitchen spoon
    5. Potato masher (optional)
    6. Something to store your applesauce in once its done
    Ingredients you will need:
    1. 7 lbs of apples. Today I'm using honey crisp apples, but you can use whatever apple you prefer.
    2. 1 1/2 cups of apple juice.
    3. 1 TBS cinnamon
    4. 1 tsp nutmeg.
    5. 1 tsp ginger.
    How to make it:
    1. Peel & core your apples. Then dice them into about 1" cubes.
    2. Add them to the stock pot with the rest of your ingredients; apple juice, nutmeg, cinnamon & ginger.
    3. Give a good stir to coat the apples well with the ingredients, bring to a boil & then reduce heat to low-medium & simmer for about 15 minutes allowing the apples to break down. Continue to stir so your apples do not scorch to the bottom of your pan!
    4. After simmering, decide if you like chunky applesauce or smooth. If you like smooth applesauce like us, add your apple mixture to your blender & blend it up! If you like chunky, you can just use a potato masher until you get the consistency you like :)
    5. Now you can either add your DELICIOUS applesauce to a container and put it in the fridge for up to 5 days OR you can freeze it. I like to put some in the fridge for the week & then water bath can the rest so they're shelf stable and can be stored in the pantry, since my fridge space is limited.
