My dad had a 72 imperial, 4 doors, pine green with a black vinyl top, it was perfect for our family of seven, 4 in the back, 3 in front, it was our first "luxury" car.... I'll never forget it, simply beautiful......I remember being 5yrs old and not being able to close the front door by myself because it was sooooo heavy, lol....and it was just HUGE, I also remember the turn signal indicators on the top of the front fenders...such a cool car

Yes, the Imperial was the kick ass model in 2 door. These are real cars and miss them greatly. They were big, fast, smooth riding, and surprisingly maneuverable. Wish they would go back to making them again, just the same way as they were in 72.

Maybe FCA could do a Chrysler 'Challenger' model...

Even with unibody construction Imperial LeBaron was still larger and more well-equipped than Chrysler models.

I remember my parents buying a new 1972 Newport. We took some long vacations in it. I recall the A/C could freeze you out in mid-summer Arizona heat. Always loved the taillights on that car.

My dad always ordered the front and rear A/C on the Imperials, a $612 option back then, and it would make that big four-door hardtop Le Baron a refrigerator rolling down the road in Texas summers. I always hated it when we stopped to get out, my glasses would fog over.

Our family had a 1972 Dodge Polara, when I was a kid. It was an amazing car. Had a 400 cubic inch engine....but began to develop overheating problems later in life. A larger radiator didn't fix it. Eventually, my brother ended up with it in Oklahoma, and because of some dumb "non-driving car" law, they were forced to have it sent to the junkyard. A decision my brother always regretted, but they didn't have the ability or money to get it up and running.
I miss that car too. Green with black vinyl roof.

IMPERIAL for 72 was the ultimate Luxury Vehicle. The 440 CID would push the over 5000 lb car over 120 MPH.
I know i drove one. And the 440 4 barrel went over 120 mph. The Chrysler power engine was simply amazing.

I'll take the Town & Country and I am hoping it is available with that plaid upholstery. On the way home from the dealership I can stop by at a lumber yard and fill it up with all the plywood necessary to build the garage extension needed to accommodate it.

Last year for high performance 440 4bbl carb. Very good high speed torsion bar handling.

I wish they still made them - perhaps with modern rust proofing but otherwise as they were. So much better than today’s solid plastic EV SUV’s.

I have a 72' Fury. Pretty bare bones model. It is a Fury III but no a/c and strange enough, no power brakes. Sunfire Yellow (which I hate) and green interior which is in very good condition and I love the interior. It's only a 318 but I added true duals, a 4bbl carb and converted it to electronic ignition. I increased mileage and power. It rides and drives great and gets lots of respect.

Dad had Mom and his first six of his kids ( the seventh came later), in our gold 72' 2 door Imperial when the motor quit at the top of a huge hill that was also one long curve! I remember Dad with his bigassed arms, cranking that huge steering wheel and jamming his foot into the brake pedal!! that is the only time I've ever seen my Dad afraid of anything!! NO power steering and NO power brakes!! I still remember the FEAR!! Dad looked pissed off in the extreme the whole time but his eyes!!..big as dinner plates!! we made it to the bottom and the first business down there was a fix it shop! right at the bottom! Dad bought a coil I think, swapped it, and we were back on the road to the Poconos! :) lol
that car was sweet, but not worth a SHIT without power steering and brakes!! it was like a huge shiny gold locomotive on white letter tires!!

Five tires (yes five!) that match each other. Back then you got a real spare tire instead of the “donut” they give you today for a spare tire.

Read about how impressed young kids were with giant size of car - were texting each other - one kid in front seat, and one in rear seat!

The narrator keeps saying "440 engine that runs on regular gas".. NOT TRUE! I owned '72 New Yorker from 1977 through 1982 and if I ever DARED to put regular gas in that monster, it would shut down immediately! It was premium leaded gas or nothing in that damn thing!

I had a 1971 Newport 2 door 383 V8. Beat the devil out of it and it always came back for more. I would have had it longer if it didn't get stolen.
