    Thanks again, Kevin.
Tithing is a heart issue. God has blessed my family so much since we really locked in and started honoring Him with our finances. First tenth is the Lord, EVERY increase, without budging, then offerings besides. The fellowship God has allowed me to be a part of has reached the world for Jesus in such a major way, being all about outreach and evengalism, and this move of God wouldn't be nearly as impactful without our leadership preaching on the importance of the tithe. God is not the author of confusion, and Malachi 3:10 in combination with verses like Matthew 23:23 say it all. Tithing is vital to the Body of Christ, but of course, tithing to a bad church preaching false doctrine is a different story. God help us to discern whether or not the finances are being used to help advance the Kingdom of God. We gotta test the spirits. Huge thanks to both of you for this discussion. Kevin, you're a blessing. Much love🙏

      Hope all is well brother!
I appreciate your zeal for the Lord and your story on how impactful tithing has been in your life. However, I believe that tithing is not essential to the Christian walk. When we look for the word tithing (not tithe) in the New Testament we find it in two verses. The one you pointed out (Matthew 23:23) and Luke 11:42. Both of these being the same scene but from two gospels. The passage is titled “Seven woes to the Scribes and Pharisees”. In this passage we can note Jesus comparing something like tithing to a gnat (Matthew 23:24). It’s a smaller detail that should have been kept while under the old covenant, while not overlooking things of greater importance.
We are now under a new covenant, where the book of Hebrews expresses the old covenant is now obsolete (Hebrews 8:13). Under this new covenant we are instructed on how and why we should give in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.
It states: “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
I hope this helps! I’m open to discussion if the opportunity presents itself. May God bless us all.
