    This game could very easily have been a preview of Super Bowl XXII. Of this I'm certain: if the Browns had not choked in the AFC championship game, SB XXII would have been much more competitive regardless of who they played. Instead we got to watch the Broncos get completely destroyed and humiliated in one quarter of play.

    This was the game I thought the 49ers were the best team in the NFL that year. Still shocked the Vikings beat them in the playoffs that year.
    1987 49ers, 2011 Packers, 2019 Ravens, 2010 Patriots, 1996 Broncos and other teams that got upset in the NFL Playoffs thru the years.

      Montana had some problems off the field and the Bears roughed him up in the MNF game in Dec just before the playoffs.

      1burnman I mean it looks like he's conducting a symphony out there more than playing football he looks so smooth it's ridiculous and on top of that if you notice he's throwing receivers open the receivers aren't getting open for him that's the difference between this era and the eighties the defenses were allowed to pretty much be themselves and write you down the field as much as they wanted so your passes had to be pinpoint accurate nowadays because of the rule changes receivers are just running freely and you don't have to be as careful with the football that's why you're seeing all these ginormous yard totals I mean we got a season will be had five guys passed for 5000 yards LOL 6 guys passing for over 30 touchdowns yards per play like eight yards or more LOL backwood Dan Marino through for 5,000 in 83 he basically did out of a 2 receiver offense which means they were using mostly Max protection by keeping tight ends running backs and fullbacks in because you're had to if you're going to go down the field that much and that often the cornerbacks and safeties we're just better man-to-man Defenders than because they were allowed to be you had to have the time to be able to throw those kind of Deep routes. I'm not taking anything away from Brady I think he's great but let's not get carried away Joe Montana was playing today he would be virtually Unstoppable you just look at Aaron Rodgers he basically has almost the same skill set but I would argue that might Montana is more athletic and has better footwork

    • @1burnman
      @1burnman 7 років тому +6

      Dan Marino would have thrown 417 18000 yards today at least I hear what you mean

    • @REXX399
      @REXX399 7 років тому +7

      Well I don't know about that much LOL but Marino I seriously believe in this era could have thrown for 7000 yards I really do believe it and around 80 touchdowns I'm serious

      Marino truly special w/that amazing '84 soph season. If only Shula built that O line. SB already sent message to AFC Miami couldn't stop intense D & later years showed. Football really changed in just twelve years. NFL saw fans really wanted scoring & did all it could to promote it. Protecting the QB & being tight on DBs would unleash scoring. Kilmer & Namath led NFL then w/19 TDs. Game has evolved.

      Compared to whom?
      Meridith?
      Simpson?
      Dennis Miller?
      ABC could have sent more than a few of their MNF broadcasters back to class, or in Miller's case, the Catskills.

    • @michaeldubin8220
      @michaeldubin8220 7 років тому +3

      You're right...It's hard to say whether Montana or Brady was better, because they played in different times. Perhaps Brady can't make that play, but he's still a damn good QB. Brady didn't have the talent around him Montana had for most of his career, but he also played against much weaker competition. The Pats never had to contend with the Cowboys, Bears, Giants, Redskins, Saints, and even Rams. The league is just so mediocre now...If you put the 80s Browns, Broncos or 90s Bills in the NFL today, they would dominate.

    • @REXX399
      @REXX399 7 років тому +1

      Michael Dubin Montana has better fundamentals it's the same thing with LeBron James and Michael Jordan Michael Jordan has better fundamentals than LeBron James so just on that alone Montana and Jordan are better than their counterparts if they're being compared to but we live in a result-based society that doesn't take a consideration of people skills and display of skills while they're on their Journey for instance Chris Carter has never played in a Superbowl but Wes Welker has played in three based on today's logic Wes Welker would be considered to be the better player strictly because of the results of the team that he was on not the display of his personal skills people that they don't even understand with fundamentals are it's kind of like the way people are towards boxing people go to see a boxing fight maybe once out of a decade and they can't tell a left hook from a straight cross and the only way they think who is the better fighter is the one who emerges the victor but that's not always the case the end result does not display an individuals total skill and abilities in totality don't believe me go watch any Rocky Marciano fight he was clearly under skilled in virtually every fight he won but yet he was Victorious great as he was you wouldn't ever put him in the same class as Joe Louis or ezzard Charles guys he beat. The average sports fan is just not able not able to recognize the intricacies of the game after watching because it takes time so it's easy for the media to spin who they want the public-at-large to believe who is the best, that's the problem with the average sports fan these days .I get tired of having to have ridiculous debates with people and I bring up Sports verbatim that's common to anyone that studies the game but to the average person time I will be speaking Russian . For instance I was having a discussion with a friend about the NBA and the over-saturation of 3-point shots and how it allows a team like Golden State to be dominant because if you're taking quick shots not to mention quick low-percentage shots and they're taking quick low-percentage shots it comes down to a situation of big Bank take little Bank there's no real control of the game it's just left up to long distance shooting there's no control of pace time or score, basically I was telling him that and no error of basketball has a long-distance shot been a more viable option than a dunk live for free through he couldn't understand it and at that point I just gave up. It's the same thing when try to talk about montanas footwork and how it separated him from guys like Johnny Unitas and other pocket passers similar to his style like Tom Brady and nobody understands it all they think about our yards. But yet and still the quick to say Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback even though he displays virtually the same skill-set that Joe Montana did ridiculous SMH
