This cover introduced me to The Amity Affliction. Everyone hating on it is probably sheltered, and doesn't understand that TONS of artists do covers as a show of respect and appreciation for the works of the previous artists.

Punk is not about getting blind on coke, sorry but the whole punk goes pop thing is the worst thing for this community, most pop songs these days are all trash, they just talk about a bunch of bullshit like drugs and sex or some stupid breakup, its a shame that people actually don't realize that punk, metal, hardcore, is about coming together as a community and acceptance, its about supporting a cause that is bigger than us, but every time i go to a show most the people there are judgmental douchebags, listeners of pop music seem to be such narrow minded thinkers and that is why a lot of people are disliking this video, cause a lot of people don't want that narrow minded bullshit to seep into our music any more than it already has

Holy crap some of you guys are so closed minded. The original song isn’t “garbage”, get out of your bubble that only genres you enjoy are good. TAA just doesn’t fit the song, it’s not as if the song itself ruined this. Something bouncy and fun like this would’ve worked really well with a band like Dance Gavin Dance.
You are one of the only people that understand. The song itself isn't bad but trying to get a band like Amity to do a cover of it was always going to be challenging. I don't think they chose the song, it doesn't suit them at all. This song maybe would suited Dance Gavin Dance like you said or even Crown The Empire. I still like the cover though.

I get the hate. They didn't add enough TAA "special" sound to the cover (e.x. Born To Die, DAMN that cover tho). BUT GODDAMNIT this is great, it's a light hearted, kinda happy-vibed cover. and it fits well for fucks sake. So yeah, i get the hate, but just try to see it from a different point of view ;)

I'm sorry but I didn't wait 2 hours for it to get unblocked by UMG for this. Don't get me wrong, I love Amity Affliction and they have some of my all time favorite songs, but this cover really didn't live up to my personal expectations. I was expecting something like their "Born To Die" cover from the Chasing Ghosts Special Edition where it was much faster and intense, but this is just a recreation. If they had done something like "Born To Die" that was heavier and faster with Joel and Ahren alternating vocals rather then it being slow and cleaner with Ahren singing the whole thing with Joel hopping in at random times, I probably would've been more satisfied. As for the video, I was kinda bored watching it and nothing was really going on. To be honest I didn't even like the song to begin with and I kinda wish they chose a different one. Either way, Amity is still one of my all time favorite bands, but this cover could have been a lot better.

from what I understand there is a list of a bunch of songs and all the bands pick what song they want to cover. perhaps they really wanted to cover the weeknd but this was the only song by him on the list.

Tommy Hoover I agree with you that most pop sucks, but I enjoy The Weeknd. He is talented and writes lyrics powerful lyrics in a lot of his songs. Though i agree the original version of this song is repetitive and it isn't the best of The Weeknd, the lyrics are about someone who struggles with an addiction to cocaine and realizes how bad it is but can't stop.

Nubajev it's a hard song to cover especially for a band like Amity. I enjoy it but that's just my own opinion. Amity have been great for the past decade and their music shows that. I'll agree that OLN did a better cover only because it suits them and they were able to make it their own. These types of songs don't suite Amity at all and covering them would be hard especially since they are a more darker and heavier band than OLN.
